NJ’s CPS1PSP / CPS2PSP / MVSPSP / NCDZPSP v2.0 Released
greg | February 14, 2007
NJ is bidding farewell to the PSP homebrew scene, and as a departing gift he has left us with v2.0 of his sought-after emulators. Now, I’m well aware we have never posted any of NJ’s emulators in the past, and to be honest I have no reasonable explanation as to why… But, what better time to show respect to the highly skilled homebrew developer.
Featured in the archive:
- CPS1PSP — CAPCOM CPS1
- CPS2PSP — CAPCOM CPS2
- MVSPSP — Neo Geo
- NCDZPSP — Neo Geo CDZ
All 4 emulators come as v2.0 with multiplayer support via Ad Hoc WiFi. The source code is also included. Awesome job NJ, take care.
Download: CPS1PSP/CPS2PSP/MVSPSP/NCDZPSP v2.0
Thanks tigerfan297.

Cool. See Ya
his website is funny…
Thanks a lot dude. Take care!
uummm… what exactly are the emus for?
Those are for Capcom and Neogeo Arcade games
Man its a shame to see ya leave…
Thanks NJ for your contribution. Take care.
yea what are they
wikipedia has good information on them if you’re interested…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPS-1
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPS-2
and well you get the idea, simply search for the rest…
Whoo-hoo, Multiplayer FTW!!!
Wow wifi MAME… GOTTA get some roms & check out the frame rates :O
I’ve been playing all of NJs CPS1 CPS2 MVS emulators for the past 5 months. I really hate to see him go because, in my opinion, he produced the best arcade emulators for PSP. Thanks to his method of using the rom converter (which is included in the download) all games run at full speed without frameskip. CPS2 is my favorite because of Marvel Vs Capcom, Super Street Fighter Turbo, The entire Street Fighter Alpha (Zero) series just to name a few. DAMNIT DON’T GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cps1 v2.0 has no bootlegs support for the champion editions…,would be nice bootlegs and adhoc DAMIT!!!!! the bootlegs are awesome bring back great memories.
mmmmhhh!, noob question?
How do i convert the roms, speciffically how do you use the rom converter, I see it has an Eboot.pbp, does it convert them on the psp?
i think i got it,
Sorry I was trying to figure it out without unzipping
thanks, appreciate your help to psp-hacks.
noup, i did’nt
filename: mslug.zip
cache folder name: cache/mslug_cache
checking rom file… (mslug)
Could not open file (GFX3)
ERROR: could not load sprite from (c rom)
Press any key to exit
someone knows what am I doing wrong?
how do you put this on your psp?
you might still have to download the neogeo rom…i know you need it to run on mame….dunno if that is your problem, but its my thoughts
Holy shit, it runs perfectly with no frameskip! Amazing! Now if only there was a SNES emulator that ran games this well…
Oh my god! thats totaly great,
For all ya noobz
First off this (as of yet ) wont run on any official firmware over 3.03 (Get the HEN Eloader or a downgrader)
Neo Geo= You will need an neo geo bios file which will be zipped (easy to find) this has to be copied where ever your roms are located. Most games have to be ran through the converter (found under the MVSPSP) befor they will run, you copy your roms to the rom folder and your converter out put files to the cache folder (leave roms and cache unzipped) Copy the Folders MVSPSP and MVSPSP% to GAME (if 1.50) and GAME150 (if Custom Firmware)
I’ve never tried the others
I have an 1.50 but I can’t find the MVSPSP% (or cp…%) folders, and without them, I can’t run it. help, please?
Ok, but how to play games in ad-hoc mode???
Can anyone give me a link to where it gives instructions of how to install these emulators, thanks.
yea dude – these zips arn’t very user friendly – I also agree with nash – The SNES Emu’s are not up to par… 10 of the top games are unplayable because the emu isn’t fast enough to support the full framerate.
Feel sad he left us but tat’s life. totolly okay. my greatest respect to him n all the best to his future endeavor, family n good health.
Oh Flex – dun b a jerk. it’s free after all. wat more do u wan?
Too bad – cps2, neo geo cd n mvspsp need BIOS to emu.
oops – cps2 no need bios
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=31448
instructions for people that haven’t figure it out yet.
this is ALL i’ve been waiting for!!! NJ is THE MASTER.
i bet the J in NJ stands for “Jesus”!
ok…i kno homebrew wont run on 3.03 but someone said it runs on 3.03 does it really run on 3.03 official firmware?
Thanks dude, great effords! Pitty u have to leave us, not that you’re reading this, but hey, someone has to try! You’re website stinks by the way ;-).
lol, i can’t figure out how to play in wifi mode. then again i don’t have any other psps to test with.
press the square button when you load/choose the rom to load– it’ll switch into adhoc mode! cool!
Hooray! I got mentioned on the homepage!!!
seriously, it’s sad to see NJ call it quits…i really like the CPS emulators….Marvel vs. Capcom on CPS2 pwns!
can someone tell me a good website to get marvel vs capcom roms…when i search it on google porn pops up lol
A good site for CPS2 roms are romhustler.com or .net and coolrom.com
For anyone who is having problems with the rom converter this is what you do:
1)Unzip rom converter folder onto your computer ( I prefer the desktop)
2)Execute the rom converter from your computer. The rom converter will ask you which directory your roms are stored. Select the rom you want to convert.
3) After the rom is converted look in the cache folder that’s within the rom converter folder. That’s where the converted cache folder is located. Copy the cache
4) Go to your psp\game\mvs(or CPS2)\cache directory and paste the cache.
5) Enjoy your game. Some Neo Geo games don’t need cache conversion. Check every game first before you convert it because conversion uses extra memory. Some game cache files can be compressed and still work without a problem other games with bigger files like Marvel Vs Capcom and SVC Snk Vs Capcom will run with slow framerate is the cache is .rar zipped. If you need the extra space zip the cache and adjust the frameskip. I hope this helps
This will work on 3.03 or 3.10 but you need to go to recovery mode and change the gamebrew folder to 1.5.
there seems to be some problems with the chech converter i can’t get it to convert Samutai Showdown V
dammit….i hate it when developers leave the scene. especially good ones like that. the Capcom emu I already have by him rocks, I can only imagine this new version is kick ass too.
dont go, take a hiatus or something, but dont leave us :-(
guys how do u get the mutiplayer things working???
can someone post a video or something because i dont understand where the cacsh file is at???i want mvc please help
does double dragon the original one wotk with the neo geo emulator now cos last time i tried it didnt
the cache file should appear in the romcnv folder once you convert the rom you which to select, give me a couple hours and i’ll write a whole faq explaining it for CPS1&CPS2
ok
i converted it but i dont see it anywhere???or is it supposed to be a US one cause i used euro
I can’t get Mark of the Wolves, Samurai Showdown 5 or SNK vs Capcom to work properly in this version – they all boot up but half the graphics are missing. I’m converting the same roms that I used for previous versions. Anyone else having the same problem?
Still a fantastic achiement by NJ – easily the greatest emulation on the PSP. Thank you NJ.
ight imma write my CPS2PSP guide it also works with CPS1PSP since there the same in a way but anyways here i go.
1 Installation Download the latest version of the ‘Capcom Play System 2 Emulator for the Sony PlayStation Portable’ from http://www.psp-hacks.com/2007/02/14/njs-cps1psp-cps2psp-mvspsp-ncdzpsp-v20-released/
Obviously and make sure you download them onyou’re desktop screen, ok next you’re gonna right click on CPS2PSP_2.0 winar zip file, were gonna extract CPS2PSP_2.0 here on our desktop screen and you’ll will get a folders thats called just CPS2PSP, romcnv and other files but there not important so just delete them if you want but you must keep CPS2PSP and romcnv.
Ok now were gonna download an extra file from here http://dl.qj.net/CPS2PSP-v1.51-Capcom-Play-System-2-PSP-Emulators/pg/12/fid/11699/catid/502
alright extract that file to you’re desktop screen and you should get a few files, now delete all those files accept for folder 1.5 and open it and drag out CPS2PSP% on you’re desktop screen then delete the others, this folder contains a EBOOT which you need. also if you wanna find the 1.5 CPS1PSP% download it from here http://dl.qj.net/CPS1PSP-1.30-%2812-05-bugfix%29-PSP-Emulators/pg/12/fid/11632/catid/485 and follow the same advice above what i stated so now next you should have 2 folders called CPS2PSP and CPS2PSP%
2. Now create two folders; one named “ROMS” and the other named “CACHE”, and place them inside the “\CPS2PSP” folder. You should now have the following folder structer
Firmware 1.5
1.5\ CPS2PSP\
1.5\ CPS2PSP\ROMS\
1.5\ CPS2PSP\CACHE\ and the other 3 files in CPS2PSP.
3. Now connect your ‘Sony PlayStation Portable’ to your computer, and set it to ‘USB Mode’ by going to ‘Settings’ in the PlayStation Portable and select ‘USB Connection’.
4. Navigate your way to ‘X:\PSP\GAME150\’ and insert the “\CPS2PSP & CPS2PSP%” folder(s) inside the “GAME150” folder.
5. ROM Conversion
In order for ‘MOST’ Capcom Play System 2 ROMs to work with this emulator they must be passed through the converter in order to get their ‘*_cache.zip’!
(*=ROM zip name)
6. Open the folder named “romcnvr” and run the program ‘ROMCNV_CPS2.EXE’
[NOTE: WHEN YOU EXECUTE THIS PROGRAM, YOU WILL BE TOLD WHICH VERSION YOU HAVE RIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE COMMAND PROMPT WINDOW, it should say version 2.0
ok next A ‘Command Prompt’ window should have loaded saying “Please Select ROM file.” and a navigation window saying “Select zipped ROM file.” Locate your zipped ROM file in this window and click open.
A good website to download CPS2PSP roms is romhustler.com
now back to the next step, once you find you're rom and select it, the black window should say Please wait while the converter creates the ‘*.cache’ file for your ROM.
(This should take about less than 1 minute or so depending on ROM size.)
[NOTE: Use a complete ROM set, or the converter will give you an error.]
Once the conversion process is complete press ‘Enter’ to exit. Your ‘*.cache’ file should now be in a folder named “CACHE” which is located inside the “romcnv” folder.
7. ROM Installation
Now navigate yourself to your ‘Sony PlayStation Portable, and then to the “X:\PSP\GAME150\CPS2PSP” folder.
In the “X:\PSP\GAME150\CPS2PSP” folder you will see the two folders you created: “ROMS” & “CACHE”. Place your ROM file you download from romhustler.com inside the “ROMS” folder thats in CPS2PSP.
Now in the “CACHE’ folder you will drag the file named ‘*.cache’ that the ROM Converter has given you and is located in the ‘CACHE’ folder inside the ‘romcnv’ folder into the CACHE folder on your Memory Stick. This should now give you nearly flawless perfect speed.
and boom there you go, should work 100%.
noob give me you’re email and i’ll send you my guide i made and if any wants it also just give me you’re email and i’ll send it to you’ll all the CPS2psp & CPS1psp guide.
conradpnss@yahoo.com
Thanks Renegade – I am indeed a noob! But I don’t have a problem getting the thing up and running it’s just these 3 specific roms which are now behaving weirdly in this version of the emu. I was just wondering if anyone had tried these games and was having the same problem? Thanks again.
alright check you’re email
Dam…. such a great loss, many thx for allowing us all to play many a great classic game on the move, all the best dood!!
I’m having problems running the emu. I’ve installed as told in the instrusctions but I get the “The game could not be started. (80020001)” every time. Oh… I have the roms and cache files properly placed and FW1.5. Could somebody give me a hand? Thanks.
try puting the files in GAME150 instead of GAME, if that doesn’t works then give me you’re email and i’ll send you my guide i made
I’d like to receive your guide. My e-mail: erico_hgb@hotmail.com
Thanks a lot, renagade
