Wave Flasher v3 Released

greg | February 12, 2007

With the slew of custom XMB waves floating around, you may find yourself asking… “What tool should I use to flash this thing?” Well, Wave Flasher would be an appropriate answer. And it just so happens Slasher of Team Duck has released v3 of his handy homebrew app.

Wave Flasher v3 permits you to store several “customized waves” on your memory stick and select between them. Conveniently it allows you to preview them before flashing too.

Wave Flasher v3 Screen shot

As of V3, you can now also include a screenshot of that particular system_plugin_bg.rco. Just make sure the screenshot is a PNG or JPG, and is named the same as its corresponding system_plugin_bg.rco.

eg) superwave.rco & superwave.png/superwave.jpg
I’ve also included a few examples for the morons out there :)

Once you have all your custom .rco’s in the system_plugin_bg folder, just simply run the program and you can select from them and easily install whichever one you want.

This is for just about any custom firmware version, including 3.03 OE-C, AND 3.10 OE-A. I’ve heard reports of this bricking 1.5’s, so I wouldn’t risk it if I were you.

made this mostly for my own leisure to test out the seemingly hundreds of custom xmb waves coming out lately.

Just rename your system_plugin_bg.rco to whatever you want and stick it in the system_plugin_bg folder provided which should be in the ROOT of your memorystick.

As of V3, you can now also include a screenshot of that particular system_plugin_bg.rco. Just make sure the screenshot is a PNG or JPG, and is named the same as its corresponding system_plugin_bg.rco.

its safe, just maybe if your rco file is bad, it will screw up.. as in you wont be able to access the main menu.. just before you do nething.. copy the resource folder in your flash0 drive to the computer and if it screws up.. just go recovery mode and then flash0 and just put your resource backup folder and replace the new one and it should work after wards

How Useless!

You can open the connection to flash0 with Recovery Mode, and drag and drop the .rco in the correct folder, WAAAAY easier than this pointless App..

Sorry bud, but if you honestly can’t discover the usefulness of this program, you need to go back and do a little more digging.

This program can save you countless amoutns of time from having to connect your PSP to your PC, go through USB, yadda, yadda.
This program just directly flashes the system_plugin_bg.rco and you can even choose from multiple ones, without the need of having to connect your PSP.

I’ve found my program to be extremely useful, and it really has saved me lots of wasted time. I switch my wave every now and then whenever I feel like it.

Regards

Im using 3.10 OE-A2 and I still can. Just hold the R trigger as the PSP boots and go into the Recovery Menu, then enable USB flash0.

i am using the same firmware but when i do it, the new wave works but the background stays the same and it gives the illusion the new wave is in the background

ive heard of alot of bricking using custom icons on OE 3.03A and up. is this safe??? does this overcome the bricking issues with previous custom icon tools for any OE 3.03A and up??? I dont want to brick my PSP.

Would this work for ta-082 mobos?

Comment by nicko01
2007-02-15 13:48:24

Yes, all flashing programs work for all mobos
the only issue was the rejection of 1.50 eboot.
If you have the mobo, and you downgraded, you made your mobo work just like all the other ones that work with this. I am sure it will work, just make sure you know how to use it so you dont brick.
I can’t wait to use this. My psp should be back after getting UP installed in a few more days (:
:)
I am going to mod my firmware in every way possible. Custom icons, background, wave, font, gameboot, intro, et cetera. this will be fun.
Thanks to all of you awesome programmers who actually know what your doing unlike me :)
