POPs Loader Plugin Released
greg | February 11, 2007
Aside from minor POP (PSX emulation) changes, there isn’t much difference between Sony’s 3.10 and 3.11 firmware updates. Due to this simple fact, Dark_AleX has decided not to release 3.11 OE. So, what’s the next best thing instead of a custom firmware revision? A PRX plugin solution that corrects any issues from 3.00 POPs to 3.11. You shouldn’t experience any incompatibilities now!
Instructions:
- Copy seplugins to the root of your memory stick.
- Using the latest psardumper mod from team c+d, extract the firmware you desire using the “Decrypt all” function (press square) (this is important, because of changes of keys, previous firmwares modules may not work encrypted).
- Locate these modules in the FO/kd folder: meaudio.prx, pops.prx and popsman.prx (Note: in 3.10 and higher, meaudio.prx doesn’t exist, so you don’t need to locate it).
- Copy the prx’s to the directory /seplugins/popsloader with the following names:
- 3.00: meaudio300.prx, popsman300.prx, pops300.prx
- 3.01: meaudio301.prx, popsman301.prx, pops301.prx
- 3.11: popsman311.prx, pops311.prx
- Enter in recovery menu, and enable popsloader.prx plugin.
- The first time you run a game with the plugin enabled, it will ask you which pops to use. After that, it will save the configuration so the next times that game is loaded, it will use the same pops. If anytime you want to change the configuration, press R while booting the game, during the warning screen.
Hats off to Dark_AleX for another one!
Impatient folks, who are itching to get their PSX games running immediately, will be pleased to know Team Reign has released an easy installer — no messing with firmware dumps, renaming and copying files; this does it all for you! View release thread.

nice cant wait to see if resident evil 2 works now
hey, i had probz with resident evil 3, it loaded but wouldn’t go past the menu. Same with spider-man 2 enter electro. is tht what happened with you and resident evil 2?
im staying on 3.03 oe-c
but well done :P
I am sticking with Stick with 3.1 oe-a
any way nice JOB!
hell yes.
lets see if ff7 battle vave works
FF8 used to freeze near the end of disc one before. Ima see if that it fixed.
looks good, but I wont need to switch since Legend of dragoon/ Marvel vs Capcom and Jedi power battles are work perfect.
Well I can tell you using the 311 prx freezes the FF7’s menu’s. When going to a shop the Buy Sell Quit Screen freezes and sends out an error sound. You can only restart the game to to get out of it.
311 Update SUX
OR is it the
311 prx file SUX
Either or.
dis is the shit!
has anyone got pased the RPD station in resident evil 2? thats my favorite game of all time and i cant play it passed there anyone that can let me know thanks
can someone post the working files with everything setup. i’m too lazy to do it myself. thanks in advance!
well since your clearly “so lazy” you go fuck your lazy ass self, had you been smart and at least pretended it as a question someone might take the time do you a favor…
3.11 prxs files:
Sadly It Still Has a Black Screen entering the RRD station T_T
well, I can say that Chrono Cross freezes after naming korcha… although, it could be just me, can someone else confirm this?
Yes, it freezes for me when I get Korcha, but it doesn’t really matter until a 2-disc in one EBOOT comes out because Chrono Cross does not ask you to save while changing the disc, quite depressing.
Just installed 3.10OEa as soon as this plug-in came out…now my PSX games aren’t working (yes I’m running GAME from the 3.10OE-a kernel).
Any ideas? Should I go up to OE-b to see if that fixes it?
Thanks,
^Doody
Try other folders for the Game. game, game150, game303
Dear Everybody,
I solved my own problem – I had to activate the plug-in TWICE. I’m not joking. I activated it from the recovery menu after I’d installed it, and then went back and activated it again…weird.
Thanks,
^Doody.
Hmmm – NICE GRAPHICAL CORRUPTION.
Jesus Christ.
^Doody
Okay,
Well it seems like it would be a good idea if this plug-in could be updated in order to allow the POPS versions to be changed once they’ve been selected. Given that I’ve been running NTSC versions of my PAL games (given the lack of support so far), I’m never sure what the POPS version was – I usually pick 3.02, but seemingly that isn’t working quite so well.
Ho-hum,
^Doody
I think you’re forgetting that you can hold R while booting a game to change the pops version
As I said below – thanks! Just didn’t know that at all. It’s working absolutely fine now, so thank-you again, and apologies.
^Doody
I wonder if disabling the plug-in and then enabling it again will allow a change. Let’s see…
No, it doesn’t.
Disappointing. A strange thing also happens when you disable the plug-in, as the game now works without it, although the screen is in a strange position (whenever it wouldn’t work at all before, saying the file was “corrupted”).
Not terribly happy.
^Doody
REALLY?
Thanks!
A few further problems actually – “Destruction Derby 2″ and “Metal Slug X” are not working, although “Resident Evil” is. It is saying the data is corrupted…
^Doody
don’t bother with the update. FF7/FF8, RE2, and Chrono Chross all freeze up still. In fact the only game I’ve been able to play through without hiccups is Castlevania: SOTN (great game but I’m done with it now)
“A few further problems actually – “Destruction Derby 2″ and “Metal Slug X” are not working, although “Resident Evil” is. It is saying the data is corrupted…”
i got that too, im going to look into it.
Just reporting back a few other things – “Resident Evil” (NTSC) on 3.11 prx sends the screen way to the north, so stick on 3.03 for that one.
As I said before, some games are seemingly not even starting…
^Doody
okay irish what exactly is the problem you are having cause it seems you type absolute bs on here just to see your name on the posts list, if you dont actually have a specific issue with anything thren stfu, sorry but someone already took the time to help and told you to change pops prx files hold “R” while thegame is loading, stop fooking waste space and let people who actually have problems make a few posts… i.e: like me who has been trying to find a way to get PE2 to work ever since the whole “POPS” emulator ever came out. i know you are going to act like a little kid and make some stupid remark to this post so go ahead, but im sure theres at least 1 person out there that agrees with what i just said. DAX is doing something maybe a whole 1% of us will ever understand the programming to so if all your genna do is type stupid ass shit complaining about how it doesnt work… go waste useful oxygen somewhere else alright?
anyone have a report for PE2? ive given up trying seeing how i always even after using easy installers do something wrong.
i read someone talking about 3.02….that deffinatly does seem to be the most stable version out there ill go with that no problem.
Dear Paco,
With all due respect, I’m just trying to get things sorted out that have gone wrong – one was because of my own stupidity (which I admitted above), the other (the issue with two PSX games not running) seemingly not my fault. It’s pretty clear that that is a specific issue. I’m getting an error when I try and run two of my PSX games from the GAME menu (but yet not for “Resident Evil”) – all of my PSX games were running before.
I’m sure you are big enough to apologise.
^Doody
Anyone know how to reconfigure or rechoose the POPs version yet?
Lashe,
Hold R as the game starts.
^Doody
Ah you’re a hero. Thanks man.
I can not get the plugin working. I have activated the plugin with 3.10 OE-A firmware, but when I start a game I get no change to chose a particular POPS version. The game just starts. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?
Make sure after selecting the game press and hold R.
Suikoden II works with the 3.02 POPs >_>… I have creamed my panties.
Could someone help me? In order to run the DAX’s POPLoader plugin I need the files generated by the PSARDump program. This is where my problem lies. I cannot generate the files need e.g. popsman311.prx or pops311.prx, when I use the program PSARDump to dump the 3.11 FW. I pressed the square button and I get an “Error: the DATA.PSAR file not found in top folder of memory card”. I’ve placed the EBOOT.PBP file for the 3.11 FW update in every possible directory on my PSP (3.10 OE-A), but I get the same error. Do I need to put the UPDATE.PBP in one of the FLASH0/FLASH1 folders (read about them)? If so, how do I generate them?
Dude, just use the auto installer =p. It’ll be done and dusted in less than 5 mins.
worms armageddon stil wont work
Hey I actually got Worms armageddon to work with 3.10 oe-x. The problem that still lurks though is that it stays black for a litttle bit before it gets the courage to show the screen stating that it’s looking for the memory card to load options. After that it plays just fine :).
ummmm i got marvel vs capcom nts and every time i try to launch it says data corrupted and ive tried holding R while launching and its still not workin….mine is 3.10 oe’ btw….any help plz??
Same type of problem Flip – my “Resident Evil” is running, but not my “Metal Slug X” or “Destruction Derby 2″ – they were working before – now there is a data corrupted error. Glad that somebody else is having a problem and not just me.
^Doody
my metal slug x is workin tho :P jst not marvel vs capcom….lol
how do i get in to the recovery menu soz but am new to all this
Hold R as the PSP starts up.
^Doody
cheers
soz about this but no comeing up
I take it that you are holding the Right Shoulder Button from the moment of switching the PSP on?
If you are doing this, are you sure you have a custom firmware installed? I’m sure you know how to check – if not, look under Settings/System Settings/System Information. If you are downloading this particular file you should have 3.10 OE-A.
^Doody
soz mate a think a just wasted your time ma psp is on 3.11
No problem Daz – you do realise you won’t be able to run any homebrew though? Given that you are on 3.11 you have obviously updated. You’ll have to wait for a downgrader – don’t upgrade again, and perhaps in the next couple of months 3.11 will get its own downgrader. No guarantees.
Hope you are well,
^Doody
cheers mate for your help eny ways
Just wondering if it’s possible to use the GTA Cheats with any of the custom Firmwares..
Also now that I installed this new update the old CWCheatforPOPs prx just Vanished.. and I can’t seem to get it enabled at the same time as this pops prx. any remedies..?
Sorry for the double post.. I fixed the problem though.. in the pops notepad (that is read in the recovery menu for options to enable and disable) I added a line for CWCheatpops.prx and it’s reading it just fine!
Thanx everyone
Doesnt work here. Black screen after gameboot.png
Nothing else. Disable it in recovery, ps1 works fine. Enable, just sits there. With my own dumped prx’s and the auto setup. *sigh*
Did you find a fix?
I used the auto installer…:
Works good!! I had to run it twice also, to get it to work properly…?.. I haven’t noticed any emu in game improments but the new screen, volume, settings and reset options are a nice addition. The new controller port setting might be of help to those that have fallen victim to pyscomantis. ;
I don’t have any psone eboots without the keys file. Some of you may be having problems with keyless eboots because your tring to run on pops pre 3.03. Since I can’t test this I don’t know and it may be a non issue.
Also you that are have problems getting to work at all. Note: which buttons to press while extracting your prx and it suppose to be ran on 3.10 OE A or A2
I could swear my Suikoden II iso on 3.02 POPs doesn’t use Keys.bin
Sorry, double post. But for the record, it works fine
THE QUESTIN IS:
Shoul i install this one or not?
My Castlevania SOTN is not working(after i updated my firmware to 3.10 OE-A’) then i thought this update will fix my problem but stilll… it doesnt… i still have the “Corrupted File” error appearin g on my PSP… ang mind you guys, it is not even starting… can someone help me with this?
Name might be too long, shorten it.
Long names tend to corrupt it or something.
This is why I stayed at 303OEC
just installed this thing and doesnt anything think its a 310 thing coz in 303 it worked fine
can anyone give me a save file for RE2 after the police station?
great idea, but how would they get one unless they had a version that didnt crash there themselves? i’m sure if there was a way to convert the standard memory card save files into POP saves that would be an option, but I doubt something like that exists currently.
will somebody please make a n00b friendly loader for this thing? those instructions are WAY too complicated.
Can some check if Legend of Legaia still frezzes during fight with the monk at the start of the game.
