XMB Wave Hack Tutorial

I was just browsing through the PSP Hacks forums and came across sepreath’s thread.
sepreath’s XMB Wave tutorial details step-by-step instructions for hex editing the PSP’s wave effect. You can actually manipulate it in various ways — colours, shape, size, etc… Below are two samples:
The supplied xmbWave Packager, by vb_master & DarkStone, includes instructions for re-packaging the appropriate file in preparation for flashing it to your PSP. Aside from this tool you’ll require a hex editor — nothing a simple Google search can’t do.

2.Go to offset decimal 530 through 716.
3. Mix the characters between those lines. (keep them seperated by 00 (look like .’s)

im confused to, i heard bout this hack days ago but im not sure which no.s to edit in the hex editor

WRONG!
works on ALL OE’s and SE’s
peoples, it is VERY simple to do this. Unless of course you want to make your own waves.
But if you look around in forums (not just this sites) you’ll see that thousands of peoples already have pre-made and AWSOME waves ready for you to just copy over your old one.

I have 3.10-oe-a’ myslef and are running custom waves and boot waves… I also had em on me previous 3.10oe-a so there. no more questions about what can/can’t this run on.
I know it works on 3.10 OE-A/A’, here’s a screenshot to prove it. To bad the topmenu.rco or w/e doesn’t work yet…

Check out my Halo font and Gears of War background, lol. With my Sega Gameboot and DAX FW, the only thing that’s actually Sony is the PSP and the battery, my 4 gig memory stick is Sandisk. :P
Could you edit this to do other things then… instead of a wave, could you edit it to show an image moving around?
pacman moving left-right eating dots?
mario running/ jumping into coin box/ running off screen and repeating?
I hope this hack evolves into that.

It’s difficult enough as it is eiting the waves and these are just simple lines. What you huys are suggesting is a totally new mod. If it is possible, I seriously don’t think it’s going to be anytime soon for those kind of ideas. Not with this mod anyway.

can anyone do or does anybody have the PS3 wave design yet?
there’s a risk of bricking your PSP when you do this because it involves flashing the PSP.
is there a hack that lets you change the background that the waves move on … like the monthly themes … pspersonalize only works for FW 1.50 and i havent seen anyone make one for 3.10OE or above. ??? any sudgestions
