Now that we’re back in business we can share another ZX-81 classic with y’all! ZX-81, last night — during our outage, released an update to his ported ColecoVision emulator, PSPColem.

PSPColem v1.0.8 changes:
I wonder what we’ll see next… In the meantime, enjoy the classics you’ve grown to love! ;)
Kudos ZX-81.

Comments (21)Sorry for the recent downtime you may have experienced. We were in the middle of migrating our servers to a new data facility. You still may encounter the odd bump until everything is completely settled, which hopefully shouldn’t be too long. Again, my apologizes.
Comments (24)Been wanting to write a new PSP application or game, but lacked the motive to? Want to to have the chance to win free stuff? Want to see a bunch of new homebrew applications? Then this contest is for you!
PSP-Hacks is having their first competition of 2007, and I’m hoping for a good turn-out!
Rules:
1) Must be your own homebrew. No improving or updating other people’s homebrew.
2) Must start from scratch. Must not be something that you made awhile back. If it was posted somewhere else already, it doesn’t count.
3) No copying other people’s work. Your source must be included with your work to verify/see if it is a modified work of someone else’s. (You don’t have to include your source code until the end of the competition.) (This rule will likely be changed.)
4) You may post your Homebrew for feedback and you can continue to improve your work up until April 29, 2007 when the competition ends
5) Can be either a game or application that runs on the PSP.
6) If you are creating an application for the PSP, the application must be in eboot form in order for it to be entered in the competition.
7) No LUA!
8) Must not enter your homebrew in another competition while entering in this competition. If you enter your homebrew in this competition, then it must not be entered in another site’s competition.
9) Must implement one of these splash screens (can be found in forums) created by …SHAD0W… into your homebrew entry.
And now, for the part that everyone wants to see… the prizes!
1) Modded PS2 with the DMS4 pro mod chip and a 80 gig hard drive inside plus an internet adapter added on the back of the PS2. More info on the DMS4 pro mod chip here.
2) Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder
3) Non-modded PS2
4) New DMS4 pro modchip for the PS2 versions 1-10
5) PS2 game Star Wars Battlefront II
6) PS2 game Battlestar Galactica
7) PS2 game Front Mission 4
8) Free month of Premium Rapidshare account. (Donated by Calo)
Check out the full contest details, and submit your applications in our forums, here.
Comments (77)Hooray! Another great homebrew game released, coming from Zora_182 and Usif.
The “PSP-Downgrades Homebrew Game” was exclusive to the PSP-Downgrades site (hence the homebrew name), but the two homebrew devs decided to release it to the whole PSP community, thanks guys!
“So, what is this?”
Well, the PSP-Downgrades Arcade Homebrew Game is an arcade homebrew containing 3 different games. The homebrew games included are:
On the Shoot Out game, the goal is for you to shoot the smileys. This game requires a lot of skill as the smilies are super fast! You must beat the current top score for the score to be saved onto the memory stick.
Moving onto the second game, Chase. The aim of the game is to downgrade your PSP, without getting caught by the two Sony brickers that are lurking throughout the game!
And finally, SMB PSPlatformer Demo. Many of you may have played the full version of this game before, the full version can be found here. The demo includes the first level of the v0.03 of the game. Try to avoid the evil killer blocks and finish the level in order to complete the game.
Interested?

Comments (15)We thought the January release of version 1.0.4 would be the last, but why not make it an Atari triple-whammy by adding the new graphics engine to PSP7800! That’s just what ZX-81 has done today with his ported Atari 7800 emulator for the PSP.

PSP7800 v1.0.5 changes:
There you have it folks — that makes PSP2600 (Atari 2600), PSPAtari (Atari 800/130/5200), and now PSP7800 (Atari 7800)! Well done, ZX-81.

Comments (31)Something new for the PSP from developer KangKengKingKong. What is it you ask? PSP IR Frotz!
“Frotz” is a PSP port of dumb Frotz. Frotz, huh, whatchu talkin’ ’bout GregCube? Frotz allows you to play classic Infocom adventure games — those which have surfaced many moons ago… These old titles are entirely text-based. And with that said, prior to the arrival of TyDoPad, text entry was quite tedious; however, that’s been addressed and PSP IR Frotz is now playable!
This homebrew lets you play all those good ole Infocom games from years ago. I wrote this so that I could play HHGTTG on my PSP. Input was way too painful on the PSP until TyDoPad showed up.
Since it is a port of dumb Frotz, it will probably work up to Z5 games only.
PSP IR Frotz supports both the Palm and Targus Universal IR wireless keyboards.
As with most homebrew, the remaining details are in “readme.txt”. Enjoy!

Comments (9)Stream tunes in style over Shoutcast-enabled servers with the latest release of Raf’s PSPRadio. And if you’re not within range of a wireless spot, you can listen to mp3s & ogg tracks from the memory stick.
PSPRadio 1.15.1283 is fully compatible with OE custom firmwares. Depending on your OE configuration you will need to copy the binaries to their respective directory… i.e.) if 3.xx OE is configured to run 1.50 homebrew from the “GAME” folder, then place PSPRadio in “GAME303″ or “GAME310.” Otherwise, copy to “GAME” if 1.50 kernel required apps/games are running from “GAME150.” Get it? This is configurable through the Recovery Console.

Comments (19)I’m beginning to wonder how ZX-81 has any time to actually play & enjoy these emulators with his regular flow of enhancements. I’m having a hard time keeping up myself. Earlier today we saw PSPMSX v1.0.7 and a couple hours later, who would’ve known, PSPCAP32 v1.1.5 — with the new graphics engine!

PSPCAP32 v1.1.5 changes:
Sound familiar? ;)
Much thanks, ZX-81!

Comments (23)Following suit from PSP2600, ZX-81 has implemented his new graphical engine to PSPMSX — the MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ 8 bit home computer emulator. PSPMSX is ported from the famous fMSX emulator written by Marat Fayzullin.

Comments (11)Smoother than a baby’s bottom is PSP2600 v1.0.4. The smooth cat himself, ZX-81, has introduced a new graphical engine which renders those sweet Atari 2600 visuals using the PSP GU. You should see River Raid!
