Easy Upgrade & Downgrade Packages

After much praise from the fine IRC’ers in #psp-hacks, Team Reign has released what they call the “Complete AIO Upgrading & Downgrading Package.” Complete AIO (All-in-one) is a collection of packages to assist noobs with downgrading any PSP — from firmware 1.51 through to 3.03.
All 5 installers are packaged using ADePSP’s PSP Installer.
If you’re running any FW below 2.80 (1.51, 2.71, etc…), you’ll want to upgrade first using “280EasyUp” and then downgrade back to 1.50 using “280EasyDown.” You could also go straight to 3.03 — see below.
If you’re running a firmware version between 2.80 and 3.03 (2.81, 3.01, etc…) you’ll want to use “303EasyUp” and back to 1.50 with “303EasyDown.” — You get the idea. And yes, the unpatched Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories UMD is still required.
After you’re staring in awe at your new 1.50 PSP… Why not upgrade it to Dark_AleX’s 3.03 OE-C with “303OEC_EASY.”
Although the installers include everything and copy everything to the correct location on your memory stick, I still recommend reading through the included text files for guidance and any potential gotchas.
As with any downgrader: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Eh i really don’t trust this bad boy. Although if you decompile GTA: LCS than yes it’d be possible to downgrade. But i don’t see how you’d decompile a UMD considering the file type.
Second off i’m sure they have a good encryption method for that UMD although if it was really all that great, Downgrading wouldn’t be possible now would it?
Third of off i think you’d need the source in order to even consider trying to make a non GTA: LCS downgrade! Yes and we all know that Rockstart is DEFINATELY going to give out the source to anybody that asked! (sarcasm)
So i’m pretty sure that a non GTA:LCS downgrade will not be possible which sux cuz i can’t get my hands on that game for the life of me!
Last it’s pissing me off that i can’t get Devhook 5.2 to run on 3.03 or i’d use and ISO for GTA:LCS

ok i ran into a problem. i came across step 9 my psp was saying the corrupt data. I followed the steps. and my screen went black. If I leave it for a while it shows the menu again. But what ever I do it goes back to the black screen. after like a half hour I checked the system info, and it says 1.5. Any suggestions?
i have a problem downgrading my 3.03 i have GTA-Unpatched i know that because i used to do the 2.60 downgrader with it and when i use the easy 3.03 downgrader with gta it gets stuck in the loading bar i keep trying and trying and never passese from where it gets stuck so i need help can someone tell me.
just do it manually it is really really easy. if your affraid and just want to click one button though maybe u need to wait a little longerl i noticed when i did a to82 board it takes about 5min longer.
so that means that if i am doing it to a ta-082 i will have to wait like 5min for the screen to turn blue??? so after that i can continue with the downgrader right?

The benefits of the latest custom firmware are that you have access to most/all of the features of the corresponding official firmware, in addition to added or enhanced capabilities, in addition to being able to run homebrew and access to a recovery console. Have a look at the release info here for 3.03 OE-C for more info on the latest custom firmware. You will be pleased to know that the upgrade is quick and easily reversed if necessary or desired. ^_^

what you should do is to have 3.03oe-c running in your psp and after having it you could access the recovery menu by holding the R triggerwhen turning on your psp from a hard reset and just go to configuration and set the 1.5 kernel mode and you are going to be able to play homebrew and all the new psp games as well as psx games also if you want your psp to be 1.5 again by any means you can do a recovery using the recovery folder and running it from the recovery menu not the xmb like when you run the games.
yes go to 3.03 oec with this you don’t need to run devhook or anything its all built into the firmware!
I have a TA-082 PSP with 2.71, and wondering are these downgraders and upgraders for people without the TA-082 or they work on both?
i don’t know to be safe i would do it manually. the manual downgrade works ive done it on two ta-082 psps no prob. just read carfully
It works on TA-082 to TA-086 PSP
If you have an unpatched TA-082 or higher motherboard, you will be
prompted to allow the downgrader to patch your motherboard so it
can be safely downgraded. The downgrader will not let you proceed
without patching, if your motherboard requires it.
YOU SHOULD GO UP CUSTOM FIRMWARE IS THE WAY TO GO.
These downgraders are for people with the unpatched GTA. There is a seperate easy downgrader available for your firmware- just do a quick search through the files and forums.

Just a bit of advice never trust an easy installer no offense to the creator great job but i would still double check the files are where they should be on the stick otherwise you might end up with a paper weight lol
Yes, easy installers get a bad rap. I myself went from 3.03oe-c to 1.50 to 2.80 to 1.50 to 3.03oe-c JUST to test these installers. While I understand people’s want to ‘not do it the easy way’, or other worries about such things, I can assure you these were tested to a VERY extensive level.
Want more proof of testing? These easy installers have been used in PSP-HACKS irc channel for a period of time before they made it here, and had no issues. That means, not just one ‘test’ but released AFTER testing, and have proven themselves to be effective to make the job easy repeatedly.
To those that have errors with the installer: format your memstick with your PSP before getting started. Should fix the issue for most people out there.
To each their own…. to those complaining about there not be a non GTA method of downgrading firmware 2.81+ – Note the exploit is ON the unpatched GTA. So, untill another expoit is found, keep waiting, for go find yourself a unpatched GTA. To those saying ‘easy installers bah!’ just move on.
Team Reign hopes these easy installers make people’s PSP’s upgrading and downgrading experience’s more simple.

it measn that when you are in the menu or home in your psp you will see the 2.0 update from your GTA if the GTA shows a higher version then the game is patch and it wont work.

You look at the update on the disk… If it is 2.60, then it is patched.

Hi, had a 2.81 with ta 082, use to 3.03 easy upgrade with sucess but when load the 3.03 easy downgrade with GTA 2.0, every thing goes well till press X to reset, I had a blue screen with lots of wording and press O to continue, my system reset back to new confi but there after each time i press a button, the screen will turn black for like 2min before any thing come out and as soon as i press any button it goes black again, any ideas, Pls help, thanks.

Hey I have a TA-082 PSP the firmware version dose not matter cause I can up grade if needed. But I just wanted to make sure that this will work on that motherboard before I try this. I have the unpatched version of the GTA. Just looking for a little hand holding if you know what I mean. I have already downgraded 6 non TA-082 MB PSP’s with full success. Well this site is the best. Used 280easy up then down then straight to 303OEC, it all installed ok but would not play any homebrew..used 303eeasyDown with gta which then semi BRICKED the PSP… Put the 1.50 recovery eboot in game folder & brought it back 2 life….THANK THE LORD…followed 303 easy steps & now plays homebrew..

Yea, My ex gf has the GTA game but, how do you tell if it’s unpatched, and btw I have trouble doing it, because my psp decided to be gay and read disk when ever the heck it wants. So I been waiting for the downgrade now’s the chance, and look i cant do it unless my psp works right, Cause since I cant really play games, I wanted to get homebrew and play some snes games and stuff or something to entertain me.

I have successfully downgraded a 2.71/TA-082 PSP to 1.50, and then using this 303Easy installer, gotten it to 3.03 OE-C. The question is: now that I have done so….can i COMPLETELY format my Memory Stick? Or are there files that must reside on the Memory Stick for me to be able to use ISOs, homebrews, etc?
once i finished installing 3.03OEC i formated the Memory Stick & all worked fine..
workin on 2 psp”s at the same time, just tried 2 play an iso after formating Memory Stick & it just freezes.. so dont 4mat files are missin on the memory stick…so unless u”v made a backup on ur pc..dont 4mat..
format the stick after you see that the firmware is working.

Theres always the chance they find an exploit for another game, but since they have this one working fine, I doubt theyll waste time researching another way when they have one, available to them already

I can confirm these easy installers work OK.I have used both methods to downgrade to 1.5 and upgrade to 303 oe-c.Use easy installer if your not sure what to do.
Can someone help. I have gone from 2.01 to 2.6 and downgraded to 1.5 where i have been for a while, running Devhook 0.46 and all has been well. I upgraded to 3.02 but didnt get the recovery loaded correct and it wouldnt work. I started again and coldnt get 3.02 to load and have stuck with Devhook 0.46 on 1.5 since. Do you think it would be ok for me to simply reset to 1.5 and use 303OEC Easy from a formatted memory card? I am worried that there may be issues with flash etc from what i have previously done.

Can somebody help me!, just ran easyup package with no problems. Running easydown my PSP just turns off when trying to install Hen in the photo tab, i have tried to slideshow it too, it freezes and turns off, i know it says be patient in the notes but i have tried it dozens of times and still no luck. any suggestions please anyone??!, has anyone else had this trouble too, i always get shiiiiiteeee luck anything like this. ;-( poor me. ha ha
try to remove bat first, did it 5 times before i was able to go to hen. downgraded my son’s 2 2.8 psps to 1.5. worked perfect!!

Hi 88. I’ve experienced the tragedy before. It’s depends on ur luck, just keep trying ON & OFF ur
PSP until the psp turn on to a blue screen. Then you must connect ur psp using usb cable to comp then trying if the psp are detected by ur computer. If YES(it’s mean u r lucky like me) delete all the files on ur psp memory stick then install back with psp eboot( I’m using the 2.71 jap firm b4 with 1.5 jap) and all the nessary files or if u had ur friend psp just copy his files to ur psp root . That’s all

I use 2 mem sticks on my psp if i get the 1.5 and custom firmwares and whatnot its on the system its self, correct? its not on the stick and it wont screw up when i put the second one in….
(ps: I haven’t downgraded yet so i cant just take the stick out)

i have my custom firmware 3.02oe it works well then when i accidentally reformat my memory stick i can’t return to 1.5 firmware. is there any possible can i return to 1.5?
1. What are the neccessary files & folders needed on the memory stick for 3.03 OE-C? I was able to load NES emulator, Simpsons Wrestling game but not anymore since I deleted a bunch of folders to clear up space on my memory stick.
2. Please share names of good CSO & DAX converters with links. Do we need to convert them to CSOs or ISOs in the ISO folder are good enough? Tried MGS Portable Ops CSO at compression level 9 but after loading PSP screen I get a blackout & the PSP freezes.

Just try ON & OFF your psp console until the psp on and appear in plain blue screen>.. there r nothing u can see thereaccpet the blue screen or what colour it may turn on ur psp. If u got d blue screen connect the psp with ur computer. Then try reinstall the all psp files with firmware that u have b4, but in standard setting>>>>ORGINAL setting in any firmware. BUT, most of all the blue screen will appear if u r lucky….
The reason that Im giving this tips is b’cos I’ve experienced same with ur problem b4 and not b’cos of your GTA. Pls don give high hope on this tips coz I’m cannot guarantee it. My psp breakdown for 3 day with black screen. So frustrated that time until it appear in the bloue screen

hey 88, their is a exe called brick fixer that will automatically install the correct files onto the psp so recovery will be a breeze, just search psp-hacks or google for brickfixer.exe (this wont unbrick a psp, it only installs correct files for a recovery to 1.5 so u can start over if something goes wrong. if u cant find i can find a way to send it to u.

Hello there! I just got the 303 easy down. Installed it then ran GTA Liberty. The screen turn black. But it never reseted. I turnd the psp on. the memory card light flashes quikly but the screen stays black. Can somebody help me on what can I do?

if u can run the recovery menu then ur psp isnt bricked, try the brightness thing again, when ur psp is on and u press left or right does it make noise, if not then ur prolly gonna have to recover back to 1.5 the up back to 3.03 oe, if all else fails just read the forums on how to recover a semi-bricked psp. if u have a recovery menu then all hope isnt lost. good luck.

i have a custom firmware a 3.02oe-a everything’s work well. My brother borrow my psp and then he accidentally reformat my psp. so now i can’t go back to 1.5 so now im stuck with 3.02oe-a i can’t upgrade or downgrade because all the files was erase. The only things is working right now in my psp is the iso games the homebrew doesn’t work. So is there a chance to go back to 1.5? by d way i have a gta:LCS unpatched

try to remove battery first, then try again. tried 5 times before i got 2.8 hen. was able to downgrade my son’s 2 psps with the 2.8 easy down.
I downloaded this program and it works, so kudos to all who worked on it and thanks. I’ve tried putting iR shell 2.2 on the custom 3.03 OE-C firmware and it shows up as corrupted data. First tried the regular game folder, tried the 1.50 and 3.03 kernel folders, even changed homebrew in the configurator, and iR shell still didn’t work. Any help or advice would be appreciated as I like iR shell. Thanks again.
Just tried iRshell 3.1 and that didn’t work either under 3.03 OE-C.

I’m a noob when it comes to things like this. I usually make it work but not this time (referring to 303 EasyDown). I did everything the “HOWTO” said, but still it doesn’t work (neither the troubleshooting) maybe I’ve misunderstood something? I had the firmware 3.03 so I skipped to step 6 (like it said I should do) I copied the folder MS_ROOT (I’ve tried both zipped and unzipped) to the PSP (main). After that i unzipped the 1.50 update to a temporary folder, renamed it to UPDATE.PBP and copied it to PSP/GAME/UPDATE. I launched GTA: LCS and it loaded just normally. What’s the problem? (I tried the troubleshooting for this problem, but it didn’t work)
Can anyone help me on this? Please answer as soon as possible=)

load ur gta lcs umd and look at d update version of d umd. version 2.0>>> it’s unpatced. 2.0 or higher that’s is patch version>>>> cannot dwgrade using this versions of umd.

my version its 2.60 and i couldnt update it, i installed it. it successfully finished later, and i went to psp games, memory stick. psp TM update ver 2.80 right. so i pressed it, then the update cannot be started the data is corrupted (ukn90000001) yeah i got that error message can anyone help me?

I have firmware 2.81 with a TA-082 motherboard and wana try this. I really don’t wana break my psp coz if i do my girlfriend will break me!!(she bought me it for Christmas ‘06)
Can anyone who got this or even the manual version working with similar firmware and motherboard let me know how they got on. The chances are that i will try it anyway, i just want to know if i should hand her the knife to chop my balls off with if it doesn’t work!?
P.S. would also be good to know what things don’t work on 1.5 compared to 2.81 if any (flash stuff etc)
