PSP Extreme Link v1.4.1a Released

greg | January 30, 2007

Quake has informed me about his latest release of PSP Extreme Link. Continuing to simplify things even further, v1.4.1 introduces “Favorites” (or “favourites” if you’re a canuck) for both USB/NetHostFs and the PSP Explore function. Now you can navigate to your most commonly used directories with a simple mouse click; great for quickly sharing folders with USBHostFs or NetHostFs.

PSP Extreme Link v1.4.1 Screen shot

Full v1.4.1 changelog:

  • Fixed Ontop PNG Imager Control form
  • Added Count option
  • Added Last filename Saved
  • Fixed Overwrite. Now warns you on overwrite.
  • Resized the Text area
  • Fixed WordWrap
  • Fixed Removel of Next Line in WordWrap on PNG Imager.
  • Added PSP Explore Favorites. – Includes Add, Edit and Delete
  • Added USB NET Favorites. – Includes Add, Edit and Delete

And 1.4.1a fixes a bug when editing a favourite item.

If you’re new to Extreme Link –

PSP Extreme Link aims towards simplifying your day-to-day PSP management. Manage all your PSP media, keep record of your game scores, convert your PSX games to 3.03 OE (Popstation) playable format, create document.dat files for PSX emulation with DocMaker & PNG Imager, convert ISO images to CSO, and much more! It also acts as a front end for USBHostfs and NetHostfs.

Check it out!

USB Mod v4b For 3.03 OE-C For PSP
=================================
PSPSwampy’s guide to installing USB plugin on 3.03 OE-C.

WARNING:
As with any tools that FLASH your firmware – you MUST
1. know what you are doing
2. Have the AC power supply connected and have >50% battery life.
3. Be SURE you are prepared to risk breaking your PSP!

Requirements:
1 x PSP with custom firmware 3.03 OE-C
1 x USB cable
1 x Copy of USB Mod For 3.03 OE-C.
(Note: this will overwrite any existing plug-ins)

First off, I just want everyone to know that this is VERY HEAVILY based on “TheBuzzer’s” release “USB Mod v4 For SEC For PSP” In fact – it is pretty much his release, but with a slight tweak, we now need to use vshctrl.prx as well as systemctrl.prx! (I’m not stealing TheBuzzer’s thunder – just updating on his work so it will work on the latest firmware.)

Ok, so… on with the show…
This package will allow you to play games on Custom Firmware 3.03 OE-C in xmb from usb or ms (using Square to toggle)

INSTALLATION:-
1. Put the MS_ROOT files from the archive onto your PSP’s root (X:\)
2. Go into 3.03 OE-C recovery (Hold R on cold bootup)
3. Choose Plugins ->
4. Enable usbhostfs.prx in both VSH and GAME
5. Enable buzzusbvsh.prx in VSH
6. Choose Back
7. Choose Advanced ->
8. Choose ‘Toggle USB (flash0)’

*Warning – you MUST do this next be correctly, or you are likely to BREAK your PSP*
9. On your PC, copy the file ‘vshctrl.prx’ from the ‘Flash0\kn’ folder and paste it onto your PSP’s Flash0 in the folder ‘X:\kn\’. (where X:\ is FLASH0 of your PSP)
10. On your PC, copy the file ’systemctrl.prx’ from the ‘Flash0\kn’ folder and paste it onto your PSP’s Flash0 in the folder ‘X:\kn\’. (where X:\ is FLASH0 of your PSP)
****************************************
11.) Run usbhost (or usblink etc) on your PC
12.) Exit from PSP recovery
13.) On your PSP, now it has booted, you can hold square and it will switch between usb and memorystick. (To make ‘memory stick’ refresh itself, go to the save data section than go back to memory stick.)

UNINSTALLATION: -
1. Go into 3.03 OE-C recovery (Hold R on cold bootup)
2. Choose Advanced ->
3. Choose ‘Toggle USB (flash0)’
4. On your PC, copy the file ‘vshctrl.prx’ from the ‘Flash0\original’ folder and paste it onto your PSP’s Flash0 in the folder ‘X:\kn’.
5. On your PC, copy the file ’systemctrl.prx’ from the ‘Flash0\original’ folder and paste it onto your PSP’s Flash0 in the folder ‘X:\kn’.
(6. Disable the plug-ins and remove them from the seplugins folder on your PSP.)

Important Notes:
1. USB games will only show up if you are running usbhost on your PC!!!
2. If you have loads of ISO’s / CSO’s the menu may take a couple of seconds longer to populate (but it’s worth the wait!)
3. To see usb or ms games after you’ve changed mode with the square button, go to the save data section and then back to memory stick. This will make the ‘memory stick’ refresh the list of games/homebrew.
4. If you want to use USB mass storage. Disable the game usb and then use the ‘USB connection’ on the xmb as normal.

Have Fun!
PSPSwampy

Quake, I can’t thank you enough for all those things you posted. Everything is absolutely helpful! And with this great app, its everything I need for my PSP. It will not be complete without this!

by the way, is the usb mod for 3.03 OE-C applicable to 3.03 OE-B? I don’t want to go to OE-C yet because I heard its too risky. :p

Once again Quake, thank you very much!

I have yet to update myself. I’m quite content with OE-B. I would say No, Just to be on the safe side.

grab it from me here.

I have not tried this so I couldn’t tell you if it works.

You are using it at your own risk. This does require Flash0 write.

I Don’t know. I have not updated to 3.03 OE-C So i can’t use it and as for the instructions. the only thing I’m confused with is.

So, That like saying you need to flash it into your kn folder. Now how the hell do you do that.

LOL its to easy to Flash, in the RECOVERY MENU os 3.03OE-C you can open the FLASH0 and FLASH1 using USB. means you can browse or change files on FLASH0 and FLASH1.

Well, I’ve updated to the OE-C and now i see that it is only OE-C you can access the Flash0. I’ve done the whole mod thing and it does work. The only problem is. IT FREAKING DON’T PLAY ANY GAMES. The mod must be a proof of concept or something. I’ve tried games of 2.0 to 2.80 and most of them can’t even get past the Icon. Error #80020148. I’ve tried it with UMD in and out. I’ve tried it in on Mem stick in the ISO folder. All the same Error. Now im gonna try it with formatting back down to 1.5 and then fresh install of OE-C. Maybe I have corrupted files. I don’t know. It wouldn’t be the first time. The usb thing does work. but, If you get the game to run is another thing.

Side note: I’ve also noticed when putting on the USB in the XMB menu that it takes 2 times to connect now.

Does any one know how to get back down to 1.50 with 3.03 OE-C. I’ve read the readme’s on all 3 3.03 OE’s and none tell how. I see in the R Boot that ther’s a recovery thing. but when trying to put 1.50 EBOOT in there nothing happens. What do I need for getting back to 1.50?
Anyone?

Comment by Quake
2007-01-31 12:14:31

I think i found the right files. It’s in the 3.02OE zip. I’m gonna run that and see what I get.

Comment by Quake
2007-01-31 12:27:20

Yup, Now I’m styling the 1.50 firmware once again. See what I’ve noticed on updating the OE’s. I truely don’t think it does format your Flash0. I’ve had the same background on it since 3.02OE. Every time I updated it was still there. This doesn’t happen when you use an update sony puts out. You lose all that and have to reset. Mines a factory 1.52. Nothing special about it. No T 82+ Mobo’s or anything. Anyways, Gonna try a fresh install of 3.03OE-C now.

To be honest with you. I don’t think the MOD is all that great. The damn thing is still giving me errors even trying to boot a 2.0 game.

Side note: After putting 1.50 back on and updating fresh to 3.03OE-C I still had the same damn background I had when I start with 3.02OE. Recovery doesn’t format. The 3.03OE doesn’t format. I’m gonna try taking it down to 1.0 and then update to 1.50 and then back up to 3.03OE-c. If I have the same damn background then. Piss on the USB 3.03OE Mod. I’ll stick to PSx games if it doesn’t work.

I believe you use the Web plugin(IR Shell or Some other App).

Extreme Links is only a front end to USBhost and NetHost with many other uses. As for PSx games if you’r on a custom 3.0*OE then yeah. But not through Extreme Link. They have to be on your mem stick.

You can buy brand new mem sticks for 20 bucks. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0006TI9WG/ref=dp_olp_2/103-3530497-5061447 They went up since a month ago. they were $19. You read these web sites that are saying they have a sell on 1gig mem sticks for $45. What a bunch of crap. they’re probably buying it off Amazon and reselling them.

Comment by phreak61
2007-01-31 13:45:32

i already have a 2 gig stick i just like the app
if i get tired of a game i don’t have to switch umd or move onto stick just pick another game in the list
