PSXMC2PSP Beta 1 Released
greg | January 29, 2007
Here’s a new [useful] tool from developer weltall. The utility is designed to work in conjunction with a “homebrew compatible” PS2 and PSP with CWCheat. By directly connecting your PSP (via USB) to a homebrew-enabled PS2, you’re able to move/copy PSX saves from the virtual CWCheat PSP memory card (mc) to the PS2’s, and vice versa.
So, to answer your next question, what does this do? It’s ideally used for portability between PSX saved games on both your PS2 and PSP. i.e.) You’re playing Tekken 2 (for PSX) on the PS2 and decide to call it quits on stage 8. You proceed with saving your game and everything is hunky-dory. From that point, with PSXMC2PSP, you’re able to transfer this save from the memory card to the PSP (with CWCheat for POPs) and continue where you left off. Pretty nifty, huh? You can also do the reverse — copy from the PSP to PS2.
Details on how to use it can be round in “README_PSXMC2PSP.txt.”
Important notes:
- this is a beta so it’s still missing some functions i want to add and also it could contain some bugs so if you find any please tell me
- the generated mc aren’t still perfect (they miss one header and some reserved things) but still they work fine with the psp emulator (at least with wild arms 2)
- it’s still missing multi block saves support so if you have one of these you wont be able to use this to copy your mc
- The generated mc aren’t raw dumps but generated starting from the file system. this means that you wont be able to undelete saves from your mcs with this like you would do with a dexdrive the data is just missing
- as this CAN format your psx memory card be really careful with the start button (which is the command doing the formatting process)
- if errors happens they wont be reported. so if you can’t get this to work altough it seems all went fine means you did something wrong.

thanks for the heads up weltall, if you’re reading this. I can’t respond to your email address at consoleworld.org. :(
yes it seems that email has a problem i must contact the admin i think he deleted all emails adresses and forgot to make mine again (i can’t even access it :S)
can this be used to transport ps2 games from one ps2 to another? just wonderin though i dnt have a ps2 :)
this is only to copy memory cards from to psx memory cards. well you can use it to move save games from two ps2 but it’s better putting the two mc in one ps2 and using the browser you know :P
lol thanks – ahwell i don’t care, just thought it could help my friends out, well thanks
so is this going to make it possible to play the second disc in metal gear solid on psp? =)
this has been possible already for more than a month
nice
so anyway to use this on PS3 yet? maybe via SD card?
ps3 doesn’t support ps2 homebrew
Is this app similar to…Dexdrive then?
yes but doesn’t require to buy it :P but requires a ps2 and it’s easier to use with a psp with cwcheat as it automatically put the right name and the file in the correct folders
I suppose you need a modded ps2 to use this. Any other known way to transfer saves from psx memory card to psp memory stick? Ironically I’ve been playing Xenogears for the first time and “Weltall” here has come up with exactly what I was looking for, now if only I had a modded ps2 >
you don’t exactly need a mooded ps2 but just a way to load homebrew. on the ps2 there are various way exploit, armax, swap magic, hdloader and so on if we exclude the mod
Can you burn that Elf file to a cd and use Swapmagic to load it? As I do have swapmagic, but not a modded PS2.
yes just like any other ps2 homebrew
this is what I have been waiting for since you could first play psx on the psp! thanks weltall!
nice i got my data transfered yay i got Digimon World data!
