Update — Firmware 3.10 English changes:
Game
- Support for PLAYSTATION®Network titles has been expanded.
Network
- You can now play MPEG-4 AVC format video files under [LocationFree™ Player].
* A LocationFree™ Base Station (a Sony product sold separately) with model number LF-B20 or LF-B10 is required.
* For details on the LocationFree™ Player, visit http://www.sony.net/Products/LocationFree/psp/. - [Conserve Memory] has been added as an option in [View Settings] under [Internet Browser].
Settings
- [Dynamic Normalizer] has been added as a feature under [Sound Settings].
Update: The official (real) 3.10 firmware update is now available for everyone via “Network Update” on your hand held. You may also fetch it below, from us, PSP Hacks!

After the complete devastation Sony experienced yesterday; they’re back on track and quick to release firmware 3.10 for Korean PSPs. I’d imagine the rest of us will be seeing it shortly. It’s also safe to say they’ve probably patched the recent exploits (see here too) which led to the 3.03 downgrader we saw ~ 24 hours ago (two posts down). Here’s a rough and dirty translation from Google:
PSP Firmware 3.10 (Korean):
GAME:
- It enjoyed PLAYSTATION�Network tie frames and the function for was strengthened.
NETWORK:
- From [LocationFree™ Player] it will be able to remake the video file of MPEG-4 AVC formats and LocationFree™ base stations where model life is LF-PK20 (Japan) or LF-B20 and LF-B10 (the United States) (Sony product) it is this necessity.
- The fact which is detailed against LocationFree™ Player http://www.sony.net/Products/LocationFree/psp/ To refer.

well its a good thing to if you think about it.. the more firmwares they put up.. the more features it gets.. and eventually all those firmwares will be hacked.. and then well have those features too =)
this has nothing to do with giving up, simple fact is PSP is made to have these firmware updates, because PSP really wasn’t a finish product (so to say). Sony didn’t put in a writable flash for no reason. Regardless of how much the homebrew community are advancing, they will always come out with “the next thing on their list”

The minute our community gets the upper hand, sony pulls the rug right out from under us. Its only a matter of time before the “tools” start whining about ugrading to 3.10 and want to use homebrew. I guess the Noobz team can’t ever rest.

i have a feeling that this firmware won’t be hacked or it will take a hell of a long time to be , because in this 3.10 sony must have patched lib TIFF and GTA and all other exploits .
Hacking it won’t be hard, what you meant to say Joe is making 3.10 downgradable would be tricky. But in software engineering, once the user has the keyboard (input) .. men it’s pretty damn hard to prevent them from doing whatever the f*** they want.

From what I understand, piracy runs rampant in korea and china. I’m sure thats a big reason why it was released there first.

If that’s the case, then it could apply to all commercial seventh generation video game consoles, which all have been “cracked”. Yet still these machines thrive on the market.

What crack have you been smoking this morning? More PSP’s than home consoles? Yeah, okay… Last time I checked PSPs were in the 3-5 million range… 360 hit the 10 million mark at the end of december and that’s with LESS time on the shelves. If sony not to greedy on there products this firmware battle would end just let small time developer (homebrew) a chance to use there console and compete to others we will not have a problem dont you think. Guys like D.A., noobz, etc. have a greate potential in empowering more the use of this console. SONY JUST TO GREEDY MAKING MONEY ONLY FOR THEMSELVES and OTHER BIG COMPANYS. Think small… this small people if united can bring you all down… not just for the money just for the fun of it :)

Usually, not. Normally the major updates are hidden (not declared) “security” fixes, related on downgrading or using homebrews. That´s it, on pursuing Scene like if everibody would be a “pirate” or so.
Sony should realize that the most of the people that uses homebrews, -also- -buys- -games-. And, if scene is a good reason for a person to buy a PSP, doesn´t it benefit Sony? And, if that person that already has a PSP, buys a game (even just one game) to try the console before “sceneing” it? Does Sony count that sold consoles and games as benefits or loses?

I remember getting my PSX for xmas when it came out- the big chunky game cases, raising a Gold Chocobo in FF7, the Resident Evil bad acting & zombie-dogs crashing through the windows, steadying Snake’s heartbeat when sniping in Metal Gear Solid… it really is cool playing them on the PSP again
