PSP-DEVOLUTION — A New PSP Modchip?!

I received note that a new modchip is in production, PSP-DEVOLUTION. Although, at the moment, there’s not much information regarding the chip except the speculated features:
- Flash your PSP using the internal USB Port
- no additional USB Port required
- latest ACTEL ProASIC 3 technology
- low power consumption
- works on all available PSP versions incl. TA-082 and TA-086
- custom BIOS with a lot of cool additional features
- easy to install
- just a bit of soldering skills required, no hardcore installation
Something to keep our eyes on anyway.

I have a question… ive bought a psp memory card from ebay.. a 4gb.. but its fake cuz it only uses about 1gb of space.. but that 1gb works perfectly.. do you think if i use that memory card to downgrade.. it may result in a brick ?.. ive got 2.80 psp.. so just thats all i need to know. also, can i downgrade using a 4 GB memory card.. since they say that only firmwares over 2.80 are able to use 4 gb memory cards

why not use the 32mb card you got with it? I use it solely for firmware (and alike) use. and format it everytime before use. never had any probs.

o0o kool. but i too have some questons. im not all tht familiar with mod chips. i want tht one coming out but will it work on 3.03? some jack ass updated mine. and also i would think tht it depends on how much it is. and i dont wanna have a mistake on installing it because i dont wanna break the inseide on the psp or anything. some one pleaease awnser me baq on this…..!
Use the 3.03 downgrader that just came out today!
@ BOB, I think you should be able to, but I’m not 100% sure.
I’ve used my 4 Gig perfectly on 1.5 all the way up to both 3.03 and 3.03 OE-C.
Looks nice, I’m not going to be getting it though, if my PSP bricks from the 3.03 downgrader that’s coming out, I can just send it back to Sony.
You can send it to Sony but they won’t give you a new one. This happens, you see, Sony has a utility that re-flashes the flash, well, something like that. All you need to know is it unbricks the PSP. Once it unbricks, they’ll see that a downgrader was running and in the manual it states that if you try to change your system software to a lower version they will not send you a new one. You can try to send your PSP and hopefully they won’t notice the downgrader. I’m not completely sure if what I said about them knowing about the downgrader makes sense.

hmm… I wonder wat the extra features in the BIOS are it sounds interesting I might get it.
Trust me you don’t want a modchip in your system, the truth is eventually the system will break. Low power consumption, means the chips still puts stress on the system, electrical stress kills the circuitry slowly but surely.
Simply put, circuit are design to run on the edge (that’s to keep the cost down, it’s concept of why pay 10 dollars for something that can be accomplish with 1 dollar?).
Now I am interested if they simply develop a passive “unbricking” device, let say maybe method to flash flash1 through USB? PSP is unlike any other system, the flash onboard is “FLASHABLE” (writable), this pretty much makes active modchips pointless, cause everything can be done through software. Not sure exactly what this modchips is looking to do, but soldering is baadd idea.

I dunno, guys. Think of this: What if the mod chip has 64 or *gasp* 128 mb of NAND flash? The PSP only has 32; which is exactly why some features were removed from 3.03OE to make room for cusotmizations. The features were useless, but the concept of a limited flash is still there. Imagine being able to flash 3.03OE-C with all of the stupid shit that was removed, a 5 minute gameboot if you wanted it, the ability to tunnel out your PSP’s onboard NAND and use it to store files (mp3s etc.)
Or, hell, I know it would never happen, but imagine a od chip with a 1.5gb NAND flash, so you could hold an ISO inside the PSP’s hardware… *drool*
I say, a bigger NAND is the only thing a mod chip could possibly bring to the table that this scene can’t. Here’s to wishful thinking; in the mean time, I’ll enjoy my PSP, having never had a non custom firmware higher than 2.01 for more than 24 hours z)
Aside from un bricking, I mean. Does anyone else remember the whole thing about possibly using the PSP’s controller port as a serial interface to fuq with the flash?

But i see your point for those customization guys who has to have the “coolest” PSP out there, and not having to remove other functions from the flash to do so..

That statment it totally untrue and it’s obivous that you have not idea what you are talking about.
This modchip can increase the memory size for developers. It can unbrick machines. Still run homebrew with future updates. And many more features that you woun’t know how to use. How do you think DA’s SE software and downgraders was written. The modchips opened the doors further. I would say it NOT for public use but more for developers and repair engineers.

It’s great to see a new modchip. I have a UP and it is working fine… it is damn hard to install thow. Modchips are useful for unbricking and testing stuff. U brick it u fix it and u go on. I just hope that with this one we won’t see another epsilon bios fiasco when it comest to software. Also… soldering, if done properly it doesn’t damigde your psp or the circuits. Looking further to hearing about this modchips ;)
Depending on the cost, I might actualy get one of these if I brick my PSP. Well, unless they figure out how to write files to the flash when you have a brick. Come on, BOOSTER and Dark_AleX, you know you guys can make an unbricker.
Where to get it? I accidently brick my TA-82 PSP!!
