Hello World on ALL Firmwares — up to 3.03!

Say whaaat? Just when you thought the PSP scene was dying… *BANG* — in your face Sony! The Noobz have discovered a user-mode exploit in all firmware versions — up to 3.03! What does this mean? Well they’ve stated on their site that a functioning downgrader should be ready within the week. Is that the answer you’re looking for? ;)
The vulnerability is exploited by using the original unpatched version of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (GTA:LCS). Remember that — it paved the path for the great eLoader!? The later version of GTA:LCS, the one you’ll find on shelves now, unfortunately will not work.
Moving forward; here’s how it’s used:
- Extract the files from the ZIP into the /PSP/SAVEDATA folder on your memory stick.
- Start GTA:LCS

- Do I need GTA:LCS?
Yes, this requires an original unpatched version of GTA:LCS. Once the downgrader is released, you will only need to borrow an unpatched copy of GTA:LCS briefly to perform the downgrade.
- It didn’t work!
Verify that you have an unpatched copy of GTA. Only GTA:LCS UMDs that contain a copy of the 2.00 system update will work.
- It still didn’t work!
Having other GTA savegames on your memory stick can cause problems. Make a backup of your memory stick contents, reformat the memory stick, and copy only the files from the Goofy ZIP onto it. Restart the PSP and try again.
- Do we have access to kernel mode?
It’s a bit tricky, but yes, the kernel mode hole found by Team C+D still works from the Goofy exploit. The downgrader will use this to perform its magic.
- Should I upgrade to 3.03 in anticipation?
The downgrader will require 3.03, but you might want to wait until it comes out before upgrading, just in case!
- Will the downgrader work on all PSPs?
That’s the plan.
- Does this work on custom firmware?
If you’re already running a custom firmware, congratulations, you have no need for this. But the Hello World should still run if you’d like to see it in action.

God…the stupidity of people. This is NOT a downgrader….this is a fucking “hello world!” application, that writes a simple line of text saying “hello world” to demonstrate that code can be executed. They said to EXPECT a downgrader WITHIN A WEEK! It’ll most likely downgrade to 1.5, not 2.0.
Also, how in the hell does this make way for a downgrader? It’s a USER MODE access hack. You’ve got to unlock kernel mode as well first….

everybody get ready to expect the new psp firmwire 3.50. It has been anounced 2 days ago that Sony will be releasing their new psp firmwire update. Sony said that this will have a couploe of new features.One of the features is Obviously enhanced security.Sony also said that they will be adding psp search browser on the new 3.50.this is supposedly supposed to help your psp find anything on it. ( Pictures, photo, music, and etc.)But the security on this new firmwire is said to be really strong.Sony obviously didnt mension it.The new firmwire will be released around somewhre next week.
My advice to all you homebrew loving people is DONT UPGRADE.If you really want it, just wait for it to be decrypted.

No, I didn’t make “helo world,” but I did read the fucking article. It says in plain english, that this is a user mode exploit. And I have studied PSP programming, albeit I haven’t scripted anything you guys would know. User mode basically allows access to the memory stick and the RAM for storing temp files, along with some CPU commands. Kernel mode allows full acess to the NAND flash chip, which is needed for a firmware install.
So fucking bite me.

you have to have one of the older GTA`s, to tell if its pached, go onto game sub folder on your psp then below the game startup ot will say “system update 2.0″ if it says 3.0 then its patched

Just picked up GTA:LCS at EB, for $17.99. It was the unpatched version. Got lucky. The UPC code on it is “7 10425 23696 9″. Don’t get the Greatest Hits version, that’s not it. This may help. On the back cover, on the lower left, under Rockstar Games, is says copyright 2005. Hope this helps.

it shows that a hackable exploit exists, and shows programmers how to access it id imagine
this is a breakthrough program- it itself does nothing important to you, it is important in that it shows the exploit IS there and can be used
okie i just did something that scared me.. liek last week, i went to go buy gta lcs so i bought it.. and then on the 25th i was said to hear you need the patched version.. so todai.. like 2 minutes ago i was like wtf.. ill just try it.. and it worked :|
Hey i think this is great since i bricked my last psp in the TA-082 7.21-to 1.5 and bricked now that i have traded it back to the store for another thinking i wont do it again i upgraded to 3.03 sweet that there is a downgrader well in the makin but i hope it will work for TA-082 users also i dont see sony upgrading i mean how much more crap can that psp handel i mean look at the beginging of when it cam out now the present day the psp can now remotely controll your desktop controll a car. i mean this thing is sweet!!! :)

hey there, yeah yu can know if your fta is patched by going to the game icon and going to the umd disk bik wtih the arrowz, it should say “Update to 2.0″ which means its the unpatced version…. the ones that say “Update to 2.6″ or etc, are the new patched onez and those ones do NOT work

its not a downgrader.. the downgrader hasnt been released.. you have to wait for it to be released… and yes you need a game.. the old gta lcs unpatched version..the goofy exploit is just to show that it is hackable.. it doesnt do anything as of yet
will downgraders work with fake memory card duos? because i don’t want a brick since i have bricked one b4
when it comes out.. try it out.. cuz i got a fake ms from ebay.. it was a 4 gb but it only ues 1 gb of space

Yea, the site is working for me. Maybe there redoing it for the release of the 3.03 downgrader. I’m realy happy about this. I got my PSP used from my uncle how decided at the last second to update it to 3.02 so I wouldn’t hack it, like I did to my Xbox and Dreamcast. I can’t wait to start porting some of my C++ indi games to the PSP. Should be loads of fun….
