Today Dark_AleX has released custom firmware 3.03 Open Edition Revision C! Due to substantial changes in the bootstrap, you’ll be required to perform a full installation in order to get this fresh new firmware flashed & running:
- Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to /PSP/GAME150 if you are in
2.71 SE, 3.02 OE or 3.03 OE. Copy also the 1.50 and 3.03 updaters with the names 150.PBP and 303.PBP.- Execute the update maker. It will generate the dxar file.

8AA0B6C8C7A70BFF30E2770C222E28D1CBBFE- Copy 303oeflasher and 303oeflasher% to /PSP/GAME (1.50) or to /PSP/GAME150 (2.71 SE, 3.0X OE).
Copy also the dxar file inside 303oeflasher.- Execute the flasher and follow the instructions.
What’s changed in OE-C (including Popstation changes):
- AVC videos bitrate limit patched. The firmware limited the bitrate of avc videos to only 768 Kbps. OE now forces the limit to be 16384 Kbps. (Note: this doesn’t mean than the psp can handle such a high bitrate; this means than they won’t show error. I don’t know which is the real maximum bitrate than the psp can handle at full speed).
- Speed of OE boot is now ~3 seconds faster than previous versions. (without plugins).
- Cpu speed of XMB can now be changed.
- Wifi can now work at 333 Mhz.
- Added access to flashes 0 and 1 via usb in the recovery menu, based on the great idea of USBSSS by Booster. Note that writing is enabled, so this is intended only for advanced users that know what they are doing in each moment. (It is not a great idea to change anything from the kd folder). Because of this addition, the rest of flashing options were removed.
- PSP isos can now be deleted as any normal memstick games. (also the size of the iso now shows fine when you press triangle->information).
- When formatting memory stick, GAME150, GAME303 and ISO directories will be automatically created.
- Changes in internal HEN core:
- If a EBOOT.PBP with a plain DATA.PSP had a data.psar, modulemgr took as size of the executable the size of data.psp+data.psar. Fixed. (this fix enables psx games to have plain data.psp without causing a memory error).
- Added a couple of patches found by Tyranid. One allows syscalls instructions to be used in kernel mode without causing a crash. The other allows sceKernelQueryModuleInfo to work with sceInit and previous modules.
- POPs: The writing is now a bit different. This avoid “Memory stick blinking too much” bug when using the plugin to load the 3.02 pops.
- POPs: popstation now lets the use of non-encrypted DATA.PSP. If data.psp is in the same directory as the app, popstation will use that as the DATA.PSP of the eboot.pbp. Otherwise, it will use the one from BASE.PBP. A DATA.PSP that imitates the original sony one is included.
EBOOT.PBP generated with a non encrypted data.psp won’t need the file KEYS.BIN at all.
Its also been noted that these new Popstation EBOOTs will not work with prior 3.03 OE versions.

you need to put the renamed PBP files into the oeupdmaker folder.
RENAME THE FW 3.03 AND 1.50 TO 303 AND 150
DO NOT RENAME LIKE THIS 303.PBP AND 150.PBP DON’T WORK
PBP IS THE NAME OF THE FILE I HOPE THIS HELP GUYS
PBP is the file extension, not the filename. If you have windows set up to show file extensions, it will show as 303.PBP and 150.PBP If you have windows set to not show file extensions you won’t see the pbp

I have all ways have a doubt with this I Downloaded the 3.02 0E and well perfect! love it i can play the psp games with out a sweat but what about if I want to play with the emulators? isnt there a way to play with them or use afkim with this kind of programs?
Put homebrew (emulators etc.) in the GAME150 folder and they will work. Dark_Alex, keep up the good work!

You can do it right away from 1.5
some one helps me please. I AM STUCK. for some reasons I can never get this programme work no matter what method I used. I format my PSP MS I have 1.5 I did exactly what the instruction tells me to. But forever there is this message “cannot open file”
some body help me my umd disk wont work on my psp and and dont know all of this folders and downloading stuff so can sombody help me get started

dude, what’s your problem? I’d rather see him working on FW than Downgraders as it would affect more ppl with PSPs who are interested in homebrew. I’m sure some ppl are working a 2.82 downgrader(s) as we speak.

LOVE THE OE best of both worlds wrapped into one, I just wish I hadn’t updated 1 of my PSP’s to 2.81 before this had come out, otherwise both my PSP’s would be sporting 3.03 OE and someday again maybe I will if/when a Downgrader is written, but just give thanks to DA for his work and stop whining about downgraders.
im sure the will come out wit a 2.82 downgrader. it cant be anymore complex then 2.81

No you dont need to go to 3.03 OE-A then to OEB, you can update to this version straight from 1.50 if you want, its a full flash
If your on 3.02 OE-A or 3.03 OE-A just update to 3.03 OE-C

Upgraded from 3.02 OE-B to 3.02 OE-C no problem Make a GAME150 folder in PSP on your memory stick if you don’t have one already and do everything the readme tells you works like a charm.

This is a full flash according to PSP-HACKS, so NO, you will not need to update, as long as you can run the updater (so you have a Homebrew enabled PSP) you can use this app to flash straight to 3.03 OE-C

No you do not have to FLipIn. I just installed from 3.02OEB and everything looks great. The only things I have noticed is the gameboot MS0 mod and Xflash v18k do not work, but I expect that to be resolved soon.

does the location free player software work on the psp in this fw?
I’m the total newbie when it comes to this stuff….I have a 1.5FW so I’m in good shape but I’m still anxious about using this….Is there something I need to do with the real 3.03FW files before I run through this? Will I be prompted? Or can I just follow the above instructions and I’ll be good to go. Thanks. I’m a bit of nervious nelly when it comes to the PSP.

but am not sure if the recovery work from 3.03 oe-c the recovery for 3.02 oe-a work for 3.03 oe-b what to do
just flash the psp with fw 3.03 oea or 3.02 oe-a and them run the recovery i did it like this and work i hope this help

why does alot of older hombrew not work with OE’s, i can get some to work but not older stuff like snake or PSP air hokey. other wise awsome update!
have you try setting the kernal to 1.50 in the recovery mode?
If all you get is corrupt icons for your homebrew, PM me in the forums of what programs do this and I will fix them to work on 3.02/3.03 OE
At first: NO you stupid NOOBS you dont musst update to an other OE!!!! The Flash will be formated anyway! It dont have any sense.
FAnd Now I wana say that I love the new firmware, Because the function to brows the Flash0 on PC is wonderful. I Have try to copy a new Icon Set to the Flash, and it works great. You can see how many speace are free too. Thanks Dark_Alex!

The only thing that puts me off about this update is, previous PSX RBOOT’s wont work with this update.
Previous PSX EBOOTS work only those created using the new popstation will not work on the older OEs
i aint sure if i want to use this thing cos it may brick my psp and does the non-umb thing work prperly now

You can if you successfully downgraded to 1.5, the only thing you cant do on a TA-082 is update from 1.5 ~ 2.5 official sony update, this will brick a TA-082

Have any of you ran into this problem:
You are out of space on your memory stick and see this album of music you don’t listen to much anymore. You can’t delete the entire folder because it has album art in it and it says it can’t be deleted because there is other types of data in it. I would like to see that changed.
google for a software called “unlocker”it will
delete anything that your pc tells you,you cant delete! i had a folder on my desktop for years i couldn’t remove even in safe mode till i got this software : )
He means deleting the folder using the PSP, no PC involved.
format your memory stick dude that will solve your problem… it’s showing that message because there are hidden image files together with your mp3s so next time copy only the mp3 files and not entire folders.

So any old PSX eboot before this or before compressed, game save fix etc?

Just new eboots made with 3.03 OE-C will work, as the code has been changed
it doesnt work. when i try to make the daxr file it says 150.pbp cant be opened
Make sure it is in 303oeflasher folder and not 303oeflasher% folder
Make sure your eboots are in the oeupdatemaker folder, not the 303oeflasher folder. after creating the dxar, place it in 303oeflasher.

also make sure you renamed the 1.5 eboot.pbp to 150.pbp and also the 3.03 eboot as 303.pbp…..it cant read it if it doesnt exist!!
how long dose this file take 2 make as this is taking ages the other done really quikly =/
Only took me a couple minutes. You may try formatting your memstick before running the update makere.
Just had a look at my flash1 and it has a folder called: dh. Is that an old dev hook folder? If so can i delete? Thanks

WOW Great update!! PSX DOES Work…just tried one used before, and ISO’s work great. It even SAVED my network settings for WiFi connection ( Didn’t have to set anything back up)!! Great Job Alex!!

Look in the forum, there is already talk of the new update & installers
If you update - You will not have to worry about PSX working, It works great. If you don’t upgrade - PSX’s that are created with the new popstation will not work on OLDER firmware Ver. So if you don’t upgrade and someone makes a PSX with this version it wont work on your system.
there is no way im flashing my psp not untill there is 100% no way i can hurt it
Depends on what Firmware ver. you have now, & what you have to do. There is always a chance when you mess with flash…BUT it has gotten A LOT better the last few updates with the pre checks and security that Alex as put in the updates. GREAT WORK ALEX!!!
