BLUEKVM: Java for the PSP
greg | January 22, 2007
Over in the Google Groups you’ll find java4psp — a group devoted to PSP Java Development!
BLUEKVM is the current project:
A port of the J2ME technology’s Kilobyte Virtual Machine (KVM). The KVM core libraries, virtual machine features, security, input/output, and networking is defined by the Connected Limited Device Configuration, version 1.1.
Provided is a BLUEKVM demo demonstrating sample Java code on the PSP. Check out the README.txt for details on running and building sample Java apps.
Good news! Now, where is DickyDick?!

the concept sounds great :)
Keep up the good work.
im second 2 post yayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
gr8 work every1, u guyz make homebrew worth livin 4.
Yay I WANT RUNESCAPE FOR TEH PSPZORS!
really?
your a noob, the psp dosent have anywhere near enouph memory to run runescap
Sadly this dosn’t work on the official Sony Firmware (3.0.3), I just tried.
Your an idiot.
im with you ryan.
mee to, ryan
mm hmm, same. im with ryan
Maybe you should’ve been the roadkill not that poor bunny! ;-)
with you ryan, I agree
I’m also with you Ryan.
Ryan is the man
ill just jump in the bandwagon, gj ryan
4Q u ryan
yea go ryan!! flame his ass
OMG NNNNNNOOOOOOOOO
damn runescapers gonna pop out of nowhere
i hate them
Does mobile phone jar files work with this? I’m totally seroius about this too. If not, geting limewire to work with this would be awesome.
y dont u just try it out?
and just use ur pc for limewire
I am gonna try it out… once my psp is charged! I lost the power adapter and I’m too lazy to buy a new one. Waiting ’till it magically appears. But seriously, Limewire on psp would be so awesome. Being able to download music straight to the psp without a computer would be cool. If every answer that had to do with being able to do something on the psp was answered with “just use your pc” then the psp wouldn’t be as cool. “Why don’t you use you pc to browse the web instead of the psp” “… watch a movie on your pc instead of a pc” “… listen to music…” get my drift?
Limewire will destroy your psp it is normally infected with trojans
Yes, cause trojans aim for attacking psps. Especially since the psp is written in a different programing language. And the only known threat to the psp is writing to the flash. Unless the lime wire file itself was a “trpjan” that wrote to the flash, I’m pretty sure the psp would be fine!
can any1 tell me wht can i do wit this, and how?
thx
you can remotecontrol your grandmom! are you stupid? did you even read the article?
xD hahahahaha, that comment made my day. coming homwe from a 10hr shift and this is what makes it worth while. :D remote control your grandma…LOL….commentt was so blunt. i salute you ^^
*bows* hehe thanks
ya i did
and i didnt get it
someone should try to port opera mini to BLUEKVM so we finally can have a decent browser on the psp… if possible… its a browser for mobilephones and its based on j2me :)
Would you be able to play youtube videos with this?
darn, just downloaded the thing (no onto the psp) and the files are class files. That means no jars. Oh well.
great appz thanks off the subject im thinking of getting a 4gb sandisk anyone that has one if they could pleased give me adviced i heard most games are slow due to this 4gb sandisk is it true thanks in advance.
Im not sure about the games, but I fitt-ed 15 PSP games on to the 4gb stick, all compressed CSO. Even had another 20 GBA games to play also. I bought mines from http://www.newegg.com for $100(free shipping at that time), and im still waiting for the $20 rebate though.
I have a Sandisk 4gb stick, it runs everything perfectly compared to my 4gb Sony. I get lag /slowed with that stick. Go with the Sandisk for sure.
thats wat u get for a sandisk… they so rip you off. so return yours or sumtin and get a sony or lexar. they’re so much better
I only use my 4GB card now and I have not had any problems.
currently playing: MGS:PO, Tekkan, Burnout Legends & Silent Hill
by the way, I got mine for $65 at buy.com
would this play youtube videos? :P watching japanese rock would be ace by streaming it ^.^
you tube videos if in not mistaken use flash
And If I’m not mistaken, PIMP Streamer already does this. Ironically, the creator is DickyDick. The guy who invented PeeJay. His pimpware.org is gone too! Wonder where he went?
Man u runescape players are sad if ur gonna play an online game get guildwars or world of warcraft. Runescape is one of the worst games ever invented
Is there a possiblity that a VOIP program like Skype could be ported to JAVA for the PSP? PSP users could then make free calls whenever in a wifi hotspot!?!?!? Keep up the good work java4psp!!!
Heck yea !!!! Lime wire here i come
lol, or not , ?
Limewire for PSP = Trojans/worms for the PSP (hey, it could happen!)
Would this be able to use an irc java client?
Oh and to the person who wanted to know if this would play youtube vids… Just save the vids with keepvid then get a program called Replay Converter to convert the vids to psp playable videos.
i got limewire on my psp
get rid of it quick
baahahhaha IDIOT ur psp is just gonna be overrun in like 2 downloads
y should i get rid of it
gl with that
(sry bout dbl commenting the dang window didn’t show everything I commented on)
gl with that …I wouldn’t dl Limewire to my pc (let alone my psp) to save my life. Trojans and Viruses Galore …
id only use limewire if i had two computers, one to be good, other to download stuff with
i do like the idea of Java on the psp though
its another step forward to making the PSP into the ulitmate portable device
about the only thing that it cant do is be used as a Cell Phone (not yet anyway, but it has all the things needed for it- mic/headphone input is already there, and the number/keypad input is there too
it’d need something like the GPS receiver for that to get any headway though
lol runescape…
I used to play that. I think im gonna quit now.
If you really want to play runescape from psp get PSPVNC or Portable VNC (same thing).
It’s hard to set up if you don’t have a guide, so look for one on google.
Yes, I did play runescape on the PSP a few times.
I am getting WoW soon, Only thing is, I’m not so sure my crappy computer(XP pro, 400mb RAM, 800mhz, 90gb HDD, Pentium 3) would run it very well. It didn’t run NeverWinterNights Gold when I tried that. WAY to laggy…
I heard WoW was actually able to run with only 256mb RAM…
Still, Thats the problem with runescape on psp, not enough RAM. Maybe if someone would enhance a psp with 1gb RAM (ROFL!) Then we could do it. And also 1ghz cpu. And a high powered fan… (dont want your psp to explode! :))
” (dont want your psp to explode! :))” who says…
ok i install this on to my psp click on it it runs ?? now what can i do with this dont see shit to do with it all i see is shittt any help people
how much i wish to have a 1.5… o well some day. cool java tho mbe u can run runescape private srvrs on it(dont flame me)
how exactly do i create a .class file and whats the difference between a .class file and a .java file?
So anyways, I’ve been using limewire for years now and haven’t gotten attacked by trojans/viruses. Thats a plus for the mac! Just kidding, butr still, I haven’t gotten attcked in years. and I have it on two windows pcs. Have you guys been using the new limewire?
WinMX all the way!!!! Limewire is a resource hog. I hate it!!!! Now back to the subject of Java on the PSP
Well, it’s a resource hog because it’s java, if you notice, most java apps take up a lot of resorces. And I apologize for bringing up limewire in the first place, didn’t know there were so many haters. But psp and java, a new frontier for programing!… now what?
Why is everyone here talking about stuff we can’t/should’t use? Post some usefull progs that DO work ;) Never had any problems with LW by the way. Just download the Pro version. With the normal Limewire xD
people can make java games…..
theres alot of java programmers out there, more than there are psp programmers, and im sure it wouldnt take a whole lot of work to port those things to a java-enabled psp
i love rune so dont diss or i kick uin nads e mail me @ theesnuts2@yahoo.com
mrk next tiem u think about talking.. dont..
