PSP Installer v0.2 Released
greg | January 20, 2007
ADePSP has updated his PSP Installer app to v0.2 with a couple additions. Its intended purpose is to provide a simple way for homebrew developers to package and distribute their creation in a single executable.
v0.2 changes:
- Now creates stand alone executables for distribution
- Front end allows easy selection of the folder path, picture and readme
- Preview available on front end
- Zip compression on all compiled files
- Progress bar added when installing
The overview:
The PSP Installer is a program that creates a single stand alone executable install file that will install files and folders onto end user PSPs.
The stand alone executables will detected a connected PSP automatically making it very simple for your users to install your application.
This is obviously intended for developers.
The program allows you to choose the root folder on your PC. This folder should contain the files you want to be copied onto the end user’s PSP. The default is the MS_ROOT folder. Assume any files or folders you place in the MS_ROOT folder will be copied to the root of the PSP memory stick.
You can also choose a jpg file that will become the background of the compiled installer you are creating and also a Readme file that will popup when the user has completed the installation.
The end result is a single executable program containing all the files you want copying to the end user’s PSP. There is no real need to worry about zipping the install program as your files will already by zipped up during
the compiled process.

Great work. That is very useful.
Woooooooo!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go ADePSP go!
So, does this mean we’ll get homebrew software that we can only install using windows?
Surely there’s a better way, perhaps by creating “install packages” that are basically just a zip file with an install script that’s executed by an application that knows how to deal with it.
Just an idea that I’d love to see realized.
I’m working on a MAC version man… I get your point… Won’t let that happen…
Know any MAC dev people… It would be so easy to make this create a win32 and MAC install…
I asked on many forums in the past about this exact same thing… You guys just don’t have any devs many stuff… Sorry but your blame Apple…
lol, sorry about the language there, a little drunk (it is the weekend)… Seriously, if anyone knows any MAC developers please get in touch,

NICE!!!
Is this the sort of program used for ‘Easy Installers’ for downgraders etc??
Yes basically if you didn’t get it you give he files you want placing in a certain place to the e program and a picture it makes an exe that when activated copies it automatically to the right drive in the right place of the psp
ya i figured on the other vers. i had to change the name from MSROOT to data… anyways thanx this works GREAT with AUTOPLAY 5…
