Never get lost again with Deniska’s Map This! — the fully functional map viewer and GPS software for the PSP. With a little know-how you’ll soon be on your way to the nearest strip club.
0.4.60 Beta changes:
- address lookup for US addresses (via TIGER line data)
- reverse lookup (shows the closest known house numbers or intersections)
- new logo, startup screen, wallpaper (contributed by DaxDce)
- re-designed interface: new fonts, menus, some layout changes, more skinable data panels, battery & signal icons, etc..
- some bug fixes: clock desplay, POI layout problem, etc.
- bundled with small NYC map and corresponding geodata file. (~1Mb)
Creation of US geodata file:
I provided a set of scripts & programs (all with sources) to get the Tiger Line data from US Census Bureau. They have been tested under cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com)…
Perhaps someone (in7ane?) could convert that code in to some kind of GUI program.To generate the geodata file for a state do following:
- copy geocoder folder to your cygwin home directory
- navigate to that folder (using cd command) under cygwin prompt.
- run following command:
./geo-map.sh [2-letter state abbreviation in capitals]
Example: ./geo-map.sh NY- wait for a few hours while it creates geodata.dat file
- copy geodata.dat file to your map’s folder.
Great news for US residents… I hope something similar is available for Canada. :)

You have to make the maps yourself. The only map it comes with is New york.. So its not even US anyway its probably just where the creator lives.

try donwloading the version made before this one … it includes the program to MAKE the maps .. ” u need to know how to read thoe ” … but it SO much worth it … iv made maps on only 20 mb´s that include over 2100 km per radius with the 1 version … so i wonder what can the kompression tool do here i really need a simple guide to know how to do this great shit

push Select to exit the program, first it will take you to the map selection screen, then hit select again and it will exit to the xmb
if someone REALLY need it … i have the map download tool in a rar file …

browse your map down to 300 km radius and press download map ..ps ” read” what to call the map .. and expect an GOOD LONG time generating the map … AND transfering it to the mem stik … fat32 is perfered ton the memstik to hold the map file better .. “less mb”

Works mint with 3.03 oe-b and yes you will need a gps dongle converted to 6 pin serial port. No this dont work with sony gps (YET)

shit spoke to soon, it downloads a load of zip files then gets an error. I will keep working on it.
Mine keeps crapping out after the zips are all downloaded too. I’ll look at his bash script once later when I have some time.
yea that is when it craps out is after the zip files are downloaded. I tried it both with win, and linux and get the same error each time. Anyone have a fix for this one?
The bug is in compr.c, not the shell script. On Mac OS X it barfs if there are too many zip code files to process. On Linux it goes into an infinite loop.

You need cygwin… cd is change directory which is a command you need to run within the cygwin shell.

Ok ummm lets try this again lol…I have Cygwin and im at the Prompt but i have no idea what I need to type in…
cd c:/cygwin/geocoder (my directory yours might be different)
geo-map.sh WV (my state yours might be different)
press enter and wait, I have been having problems though it downloads all the zip files then I get an error msg.
I hope this helps some of the noobs out there.
For some having problems with cygwin ending in an error this might fix it I am trying it out now to see if it works or not I will post a reply here in a sec to let everyone know if it works or not
there is a bug in geo-map.sh
Edit the file. Change line 16 from:
find ./temp -name ‘*36065.ZIP’| { while read zip; do
to
find ./temp -name ‘*.ZIP’| { while read zip; do

ok did not work for me now I get line 20, 21, 22, 23 unzip command not found.
Same…its blowing up my terminal window. On his site he did say that was a bug in his script, but it appears his loop is jacked up too.
Hey greg, had one of those “duh” moments. Its because we don’t have unzip installed in cygwin. I am installing it now, that should be why.
It seems to be working now. Will post if it bombs out on something else.

It is working now, it is going thru zip code by zip code…now the waiting game begins.

I still need help installing uzip and wget from within cygwin.
You can install packages from the cygwin setup.exe
You’ll need to drill down and find them, I think unzip is under Applications and wget is under Internet (I dont have it here at work so I dont remember what the headings are sorry)

Today he has come out to release another version of the amazing XviD4PSP video converter, fixing a few bugs with this new feature. The XviD4PSP 4.0.4.8 RC1 update sees the maximum possible video bitrates for MP4 PSP video files being added, as well as some bug fixes to make this video encoder even better. Here’s the changelog:
Maximum video bitrate for formats MP4 PSP, MP4 PSP 2.80, MP4 PSP 480 enhanced to 1500.
Change format doesn’t reset bitrate anymore.
Fixed set Delay for DVD with WAV sound.
Fixed framerate change.
Fixed many small bugs with VOB and D2V.

nope no wifi needed. I drive all day for my work and this will be great for me to find customers home etc.. with out the outrageous cost of a commercial GPS navigation system.

Ok I had the same problem make sure that when you name the folder that you put your map in place a underscore before the name
Example : _california
