Quake’s POPStation GUI v2

Quake has updated his simple POPStation front end (for Windows) to accommodate the latest from Dark_AleX. New you’ll find support for ISO compression and various cosmetic changes/fixes. VB source code is also included with the download.
Recap: POPStation GUI is a front end responsible for converting PSX games to 3.03 OE playable format. You’ll require “popstation.exe”, “cygwin1.dll”, and “cygz.dll” from the 3.03 OE-A package. “KEYS.BIN” & “BASE.PBP” — you know where to get ‘em.

does this mean you can get 50mb file out of 500mb file?(px)
i meant psx…i downloaded tekken2 and it was compressed to 50mb!!!!
were you able to play it? i used popstation to compress a copy of castlevania i downloaded and it wouldnt work! i used compression level 9, if that means anything. and it was the US NTSC version of the game, it should have worked…
50mb tekken2 i downloaded worked flawlessly…i just cant get mines that small!
Thats because the movies, voice overs, and other stuff that makes a game good is removed before packing.
I’ve tested it on a 3mb ISO. It went down to a 1.68mb So yes it’s compressed to what the new POPstation files can do. This is only a front end not the actual Command files needed.

Most games I’ve compressed usually have their file sizes cut in half. Like 600mb to 300mb. Dunno about that Tekken one, though….

Nope I try it and it still do the same thing for some reason I guest it’s only for 3.02 oe-b because it works perfect on there but no BGM but it’s still cool who needs music**

I got Mortal Kombat Sub-Zero Myths work. unfort. it not that great of a game.
I remember that being reviewed in the U.K. Official Playstation Magazine absolutely AGES ago, and they said it was a pile of shit! Pity a) That you downloaded it; b) That they couldn’t do a great character like Sub-Zero any justice.

can someone tell me what the hell is goin on???…i got “soul blade” and “tekken 3″ both down to 35mb working flawless, but tekken 2 just stays at 530 …even at 9 compression!! is there some kind of lock on psx games downloaded from ps store?
Games downloaded from PS Store are already compressed, so I don’t think they would be able to go any further than what they currently are.
Do all the dialog boxes show up black for any one else?

You need to change your windows theme settings – not compatible with some Vista themes.
joe try runnin it thru cmd prompt directly makesure u pass all the required parameters

how did u get soul blade down to 35mb?
i compressed at level 9 and only got it down to 345
used a .iso file which was 550mb to start
just compressed Rainbow 6 lone wolf to 14mb, the manual was 3.5mb but for the size of the game….who cares hehe.
that was from a 85mb iso (10mb in rar format)
what about the black writings? i cant see them, they shoulb be black….wonder what happenes if i reshack it…

i think you said this was a simple program in the other thread. i find the Mac app for this to be much simpler to use.
No, I said it was a dumb program. I aint gonna give out a program thats good with source. But if you can do better then code something. Better yet. Don’t use my source to do it and then see what you come up with 8-|

I wasn’t trying to ‘challenge your greatness’. I just thought it was cheesy and kind of in bad taste for you to go into another developer’s thread and hype your own thing as being easier to use, when it clearly isn’t. This thing looks like a pain in the butt. That’s my opinion, deal with it. This isn’t an argument, you don’t need to ‘win’.
Why don’t you go back to that thread and READ other PPL’s comments and then REREAD mine. I SAID IT’s for WIN32 Do you even know what WIN32 IS? And where the fuck do i say it’s better and eaiter then his freaken OSx software. I think you need to lay off the comments and read some before you go shouting your mouth off.

Why? what problem are you having?
1. Load the img, iso, bin in image load software. Get the SLU and Numbers
2. Make sure that you installed it to the DIRECTORY of your popstation files.
3. Open App
4. Read File check. make sure nothing is missing.
5. Click next.
6. Load popstation.
7. Type the title you want.
8. Change the Slu change the 12345 to the right ones. Minus the Period . or underscore _ they get erased anyways.
9. Change Compression.
10. Load the IMG, BIN, ISO file – what ever one you’re using.
11. Click Next
12. You can either Click the GUI or the POP. GUI will freeze till it’s done pop will open popstation and execute.
13. Click next
14. For simple reasons You now can just Enter Folder title – Create
15. After Creating folder you can Copy KEYS to that folder you made with a click
16. Same as above but you’re moving it to it.
17. Copy is for copying the folder to your psp/game – psp/game150 – psp/game302 or 303 what ever it is.
Finished.
For the people who dont know how to read and just blindly post. The TEKKEN 2 iso has no sound or movies, any iso which is shrank to some extremely low amount has had its movies, voice over, and music stripped.

This is of course INI saved. So what ever colors you do they are the same on reopen.

inside the rar there’s a Installer for the Popstation GUI. Looks like you’re using the files inside the install folder thats for the installer. You can use it that but you still have to make sure that all the files are inside that folder too.

Try putting the folder of the files on C:\. Then run it. Do you have the updated cygwin1.dll It’s a fewmore bites then the older one for 3.02 OE-B
If you use the installer for the app after putting the folder on C:\ you’ll have an Icon on your desktop and then you can simply click to run it from there.
Try doing this.
Copy folder on desktopo and open explorer and paste it on C:\

Yes you can. just make sure they are in the same folder. Read above. Before you was able to also.
i got in the same folder but cant see the option for load icon &pic srry , nots your fault im the noob whit this app. not sure how doing that =?
Don’t need to load anything. just make sure that they are there and you have the correct ones needed. Irfanview will make PNG’s with out a problem if need be. This app is just a front end to the command.

Are you sure you got the right files for the right Custom Firmware you have installed?

And you’re using the popstation files from the 3.03 OE download? Have you tried take the space out of that iso file name.

I just used that same one and have no trouble Using the BASE.PBP that BASE.PBP is the Hotshots 2 golf renamed. If you got the torrent the only thing needed are your PIC’s and ICON and Game ISO, BIN, BIN – What ever one you use. That’s it. It comes with the Choice of the firmware files you need. If your on 3.03 or 3.02.
can some 1 help me during the last part where it says create delete copy move on the bottom i press copy and a screen pops up it has no file name and save type as if i press a folder it just goes into it some1 hepl me and i already got the full popstation PLEASE HELP
That Copy button is to Copy the folder of the one you made prior. Read Steps 14-17 Above. This is only so you don’t need to open your explorer. :| for ppl that don’t know what explorer is.
Copy: Copy Folder after it’s been made keys.bin was copied to so said folder and eboot.pbp was moved to that so said folder. It’s all done in a blink of of an eye. Read Status window if you aint to sure what was done.
can someone share the App of the compressor, that U can eliminate the movie scenes and the music, so that I could have an even smaller compressions on ISO’s. Hey kick ass Gui ;) ! Worked good 4 me

I get this error on start:
“System Error &H80070583 (-2147023485). Class does not exist.”
Then it never runs.
Try slapping on a UMD disc. I’m not sure if that’s the error number for it but I’ve gotten errors like that also and it was do to either a faulty EBOOT or no UMD Disc. Doesn’t matter what disc slap one in there and try it again.
I’ve read other places on other errors. If you happen to be using a Action Replay HDD it’ll error out also. Action Replay HDD’s can’t be used as far I read. I could be wrong but thats what I read.

Get that. it also has the SIMPLE DUMB program for the DocMaker. Front and to the command. After installing the PopStation GUI Right click on any frame to popup a menu. Change colors there.

I have compressed my Tekken 3 from 600 something mb’s to 35 MBs and it works perfectly, i just used the new Personal Media Manager (2.86)
ok i have the hot shots iso now where can i get the keys.bin. actually i have a keys.bin but i dont kno if it works.
i dont know what this thing do can some one tell me what it does i m a noob in this
