Update: If you “bricked” your PSP as a result from using the Easy Installer, there is indeed a fix to recover your precious unit — don’t worry/stress. Download the fix RIGHT HERE!
- open recovery mode (hold down R while booting your PSP)
- Start USB
- Use the application above and follow the instructions
- Select the third option on the PSPs Recovery menu
- Boot a fresh working PSP

Update: Here come the Easy Installers. ~Maniac~, from KLmSoftware, was kind enough to provide this one — grab it below (it’s the correct one with recovery menu). Run it and you’ll be on the right track.
You’ve been anticipating the arrival and now it’s here! PSP hacker extraordinaire, Dark_AleX, has released yet another custom firmware revision — 3.03 Open Edition (OE) Revision A!
Changes from 3.02 OE-B to 3.03 OE-A:
- Change from firmware 3.02 to 3.03
- Added support for compression in psx isos (look at popstation documentation for more details).
- Added support for decrypted document.dat (psx games manual) (look at docmaker documentation for more details).
- Fixed a bug regarding free region: a stupid bug caused it not to work at all. Now it should work, although it has not been tested due to lack of umd’s of different regions between the testers and me.
- Some generic bug fixes in the code.
- Re-added the sdk.
- Fixed some bugs that could cause the brick of korean/chinese/taiwan/singapure psp when restoring default settings. To prevent this, the region of those psp’s are faked to japanese when fake region is disabled. For same reason, korean region is removed from fake region.
- Added australia/new zeland and russia to the regions to be faked.
The installation is similar to 3.02 OE-A:
- Copy oeupdatemaker and oeupdatemaker% to /PSP/GAME if you are in firmware 1.50, or to /PSP/GAME150 if you are in 2.71 SE or 3.02 OE.
- Get the 1.50 and 3.03 Sony updates, and put them in the oeupdatemaker folder with the names 150.PBP and 303.PBP.
- Run oeupdatemaker. It will generate the dxar file DATA.DXAR, which has the following hashes:
MD5: 03186D46D2F1B0ACD923098BEBC87281
SHA1: 3C80833A970EEA16A94D74DAFF6220889A9CEE4A - Copy 303oeflasher and 303oeflasher% to /PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to /PSP/GAME150 if you are in 2.71 SE or 3.02 OE.
- Move the DATA.DXAR file to the 303oeflasher directory.
- Run the program. When it finishes, it will ask you to re-init the psp. When you do that, you will be in 3.03 OE-A.

3.03oe-a easy installer just bricked my psp… i had to put the 3.02oe-a install (DATA.DXAR & EBOOT) within the recovery folder cuz the original recovery files wouldnt work.. 3.02oe-a wud reinstall perfectly savin yur life… i have had the worse night of my life and i dont wish this on anyone of u… if yur installation crashes please try this …it unbricked me.

I just used the easy installer without a problem.
Before I ran the installer I deleted the dh folder and the recovery folder.
Make sure you click on the option for recovery in the installer and it will work the same as 3.02 OE.

ALSO CHECK PROPERLY AND SELECT GAME IF YOU HAVE 1.50, IF YOU HAVE 271 OR 302 MAKE YOU SURE YOU SELECT GAME150, BACAUSE THE EASE INSTAL WILL SELECT THE FOLDER(GAME) AUTOMATICALY THERE FORE THE UPDATE WILL BE INSTAL IN THE GROUNG FOLDER( THAT HAPPENED TO ME, GOOD THING I CHECKED BEFORE I UPDATE SO I DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, (BUT MORTAL COMBAT WILL LOAD IN 303 BUT WILL FREEEESSSSEEE EVERY TIME. THIS NEVER HAPPENED WITH THE 302 SO I DON’T KNOW IF TO GO BACK OR KEEP THE 303.

Not only do these compressed PBP’s work flawlessly, but they also properly pick up my save files from the playstation store versions.
If you are worried about not being able to customize your psp very much due to not having enough room on flash 0, you can free up about 2mb of space for modding. Goto the tutorials section of psp-hack’s forums and learn how (tutorial is for 3.02 oe-b but works just the same)
this will allow an EVEN BETTER “custom” firmware.
and Dark_Alex… if you keep this up, Sony is going to catch on and fire you from their firmware development staff… ;)

well u still can play the ISO/CSO/PSX and u dont need DH anymore. about the recovery mode it works …. but the Files itsself we are not sure yet. need to wait for some conformation

Yeah I did it to my nephew’s last week after downgrading his TA-082 to 1.5 and now I’m pissed cause my controler is worn and his isn’t :(
A bit late but I hope you read this, If you have enough guts to take the faceplate of you psp you can probably fix the controller. Just undo the two screws holding the controller onto the faceplate and blow air at the controller with as much air pressure as possible.
I fixed mine this way, just be carefull not to let any dust land any inside the faceplate and the lcd as static makes it really hard to clean and the inside of the screen scrathes really
easily.

in my opinion 3.03 oe-a. no messing about with Devhook. just put the homebrew in PSP/GAME150 folder iso’s in ms0/ISO folder and PSX games in PSP/GAME folder with popstation and things and it all runs straight off the memory stick.

popstation has to be ran from the command line, view the readme in the popstation folder to see the switches.

If recovery mode boots hope isn’t lost, you can enable the usb and load the needed files for your psp from your PC

No damage was done installing the 3.02 OE-A, but i’m always a little bit scary with flashing my PSP, because I can’t buy a downgradable PSP in the stores anymore, so i’m very carefull with the one I have :-)

what version is ur psp, at the moment u can get this on1.5- 2.8 but u have to downgrade first to 1.5 in order to do it.

Then why is my psp always fragging? Tried placing 1.5 eboot, recovery from 3 different packs. same effect! It reads the mem stick, u hear a popping sound, then repeats, repeats…
same with me. I fixed it by downloading the 3.02 OE pbp file, placing it in RECOVERY. Put the 3.02 OE DATA.DXAR in the RECOVERY folder. Launch through the recovery menu. It should work. email me if u need the data.dxar file

OMG…. i’m stucked at the recovery mode… the easy installer has some problem flashing the 3.02 DXAR for me… and i tried installing the 3.02OE recovery… it just keep restarting and restarting… wad i am i supposed to do :(
download the 3.02 OE-A installer from dark-alex.org and move the eboot.pbp into the RECOVERY folder.
Find the DXAR for 3.02 OE and place that too in the RECOVERY folder. run the recovery, press X and you should boot into 3.02 OE. This happened to me aswell
The Easy installer bricked me too….If you look at the dax file it appears to be from December…looks like it was 3.02….

why are yous bricking your psp i did mine in one shot just dont use the easy installer cuz i downloaded it and it didnt even want to open so i used the 3.03 OE-A and it worked good just follow the info it’s kind of easy

i just used it on 6 psps (3 of mines, 3 are friends) it works, it just doesnt give u a recovery option, for that i just use the one from 3.02oe A of chaoszero, and it works great. The one ive been posting is the simplest you can get, and no brick for me. I can try to provide a pic if ppl want.

I’ve just tried on my 3.03OEA, yes 3.03OEA install, AGAIN, and it works dude, no need to downgrade to 1.5, can be done from 3.02OEB or 3.03OEA. I’ve just tried this on 2 of my psps, works man. no brick. in conclusion: Yes you can safely upgrade, just make sure you AC adaptor is pluged in in the whole process and you’ll have a “golden PSP”. =D

The easy installer bricked my psp. It said something along the lines of 3.03 dxar already running. How do I get the recovery to work, all it does is sit with a black screen after I choose to run the recovery from the Easy Installer. What is it supposed to do?

Download the old Chaoszero installer 3.02OE-A and use the recovery option to install it, you can install to your C drive and find out yourself(and learn).
U CAN ALLSO DO THIS IF BRICKED :
copy to the recovery meny all contense from oeupdmaker dir … and execute it from the recovery meny with the R1 botton when booting up…. now you have made the 3.03 oea firmware now copy all contence from the 303oeflasher to the recovery meny and execute it anain … now your and 3.03 oe-a “maniac” user
FEAR NOT!!! I have the solution for the bricked PSP!!!! Inside the Recovery folder, replace the EBOOT with the EBOOT from 3.02 OE-A flasher. Also include the DATA.DXAR in the same(Recovery) folder. Load up the EBOOT and the 3.02 flashing will begin….I brought my PSP back to life! :)

alright, for your questions
1- 3.2oeb *for right now* is better because all the cheat devices and such work perfectly with it, but of course, it’s reccomended that you go straight to 3.3oea, since in about a week, all of that stuff will be usable with 3.3, and then some
2- yes, you can go straight to 3.3 with your ta082, i did this to my friend’s psp (without his permission) and it worked fine.
3-the iso’s will play straight off the xmb, meaning , instead of seeing the iso replacing your umd, you see it under the memory stick. the location of the iso is still the same on the memory stick though. and yes, you CAN return to 1.5 if you don’t care to play ps1 games.

Sorry but the unbricker did not work. THe light does not flash, just shuts off the PSP and when you turn it back on, nothing happens, you have to go to the recovery menu again

Hey when I was installing OE-A a while back, I mistakingly put the data.dxar from the 2.71 SE-C folder into the 3.02 oe-a installer and it did install the 1.50 subset but it had an error when trying to install the 3.02 [oe-a] firmware (obviously) So recovery mode still worked but a blank screen would just come up when I started the psp. I could not go back to 1.50 for some reason and I had that feeling that I had just stupidly bricked my psp. But then i ran the 3.02 oe-a installer with 3.02 data.dxar through the autoboot option (PSP/GAME/BOOT [boot automatically into an eboot]) in the recovery mode in configuration and the installer WORKED! Maybe this will help you guys out who can still get to the recovery menu but can’t recover back down to 1.50!

Yes you will be able, but if you intend to stay at 1.5, install the HarelyG custom FW for a recover option in 1.50

New PSP.
As for anyone else I had to fix my psp a different way. OK. It worked, but after I ran the 3.02 OE-A Flasher I had to put the RECOVERY with the 1.5 EBOOT to downgrade back to 1.5 to get my PSP to work. Hope this helps anybody else who had this problem.

I currently have 3.02OE-B installed and I’m following the instructions to a T. I have the 150.pbp and 303.pbp and the EBOOT.PBP in the oeupdmaker folder. I copy both oeupdmaker & oeupdmaker% to game folder and run. Keep getting error 8002014C. Any help would be greatly appreciated
start recovery, go to configuration, and make sure that the game folder is on 1.5 kernel. (click it if it isn’t). That should fix ur problem
or put them in the folder GAME150 if it’s not there, make it.

THE EASY INSTALLER BRICKED MY PSP
I DID EVERYTHING
AND WHEN IT WAS WORKING
THE 303 INSTALLER LOADED
AND AFTER A COPLE STEPS WHEN IT WAS DETECTING SOME DXAR FILE
IT SAID ERROR
NOW MY PSP KEEPS FLASHING THE MEMORY STICK LIGHT (in a pattern)
AND MAKES THE SOUND OF UMD DRIVE DOIN SOME CLICKING TYPE OF THING.
I TRIED ENABLING THE USB AND USING MY RECOVERE FILES I HAD SAVED FROM 3.02OEA
IT WORNT WORK
THIS WRONT LOAD UP MY RECOVERY.
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE HELP.
OR DAX FIND A SOLUTION PLEEEASE

go to klmsoftware.net. this was a problem with the easy installer. get the fix and it will fix ur PSP
an unbricker made by the mirrors bricking your psp´s :D .. or what … i dont get it ..
they updated the files and posted a fixed fix installer and the unbricker on the site. it works, confirmed by 8 ppl so far.
IF THATS YOUR GOING THROUG
WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO IS THIS
GET THE FILES FROM YOUR 302FOLDER CALLED “302oeflasher”
THERE SHOULD BE TWO FILES CALLED “DATA.DXAR” AND “EBOOT.PBP”
COPY THOOSE TWO FILES AND PUT THEM IN YOUR RECOVERY FOLDER.(yes click overwrite files)
NOW GO BACK TO YOUR PSP AND LAUNCH THE RECOVERY
THAT WILL GIVE YOU BACK 3.02OEA
NOW, DONT BE A PUSSY.
TRY INSTALLING 3.03OEA AGAIN!
BUT THIS TIME DONT USE THAT FUCKING FAGGOT ASS BITCH “~Maniac~” OR “KLMSoftware” AGAIN
BOTH OF THEM ARE FUCKING BASTERD FUCKERS AND IM SO PISSED AT THEM FOR SCAREING THE SHIT OUT OF ME

I Upgraded manually from 302 and everything worked great. All games including NFS MOST WANTED work. Manually was easy enough……just read the instructions.
All command line and no play makes Jack a dull boy……….

it bricked my psp what should i do
First using wrong (first) easy installer it bricks my psp and no recovery mode was worked for me, then just i download from kmlsoftware web-site their brickfixer.exe and recover my psp to 3.02 OE-A. Thanx kmlsoftware !
Im not even going to bother with upgrading to 3.xx oe cuz i dont even know how to get my psx files in pbp format! dayummm i think im behind, i wish someone would release a damn tutorial!
i just want to get out of 3.03 FW….:( cant do anything with stock

Hold R1 on PSP startup – i’ll get to recovery menu (works only if you had some 3.xx OE firmware installed before).
Is there anyway to generate a new DXAR file in recovery?

There is a repack at this site with the DATA.DXAR included, just put the 303oeflasher and 303oeflasher% in PSP/GAME and you are good to go. Worked perfectly for me. Also in includes the base.pbp and key.bin in popstation and your good there also.
I am stuck on step 3 Run oeupdatemaker. Where do I run this ….on the PSP or PC….Stumped and confused…

… i dont know what to do, when my PSP got bricked.. it wouldnt turn on anymore, the green light would show but it would just die again, i tried taking the battery out and booting with the ac adapter but it wouldnt boot. anyone know what i could do?
