Update: If you “bricked” your PSP as a result from using the Easy Installer, there is indeed a fix to recover your precious unit — don’t worry/stress. Download the fix RIGHT HERE!
- open recovery mode (hold down R while booting your PSP)
- Start USB
- Use the application above and follow the instructions
- Select the third option on the PSPs Recovery menu
- Boot a fresh working PSP

You’ve been anticipating the arrival and now it’s here! PSP hacker extraordinaire, Dark_AleX, has released yet another custom firmware revision — 3.03 Open Edition (OE) Revision A!
Changes from 3.02 OE-B to 3.03 OE-A:
- Change from firmware 3.02 to 3.03
- Added support for compression in psx isos (look at popstation documentation for more details).
- Added support for decrypted document.dat (psx games manual) (look at docmaker documentation for more details).
- Fixed a bug regarding free region: a stupid bug caused it not to work at all. Now it should work, although it has not been tested due to lack of umd’s of different regions between the testers and me.
- Some generic bug fixes in the code.
- Re-added the sdk.
- Fixed some bugs that could cause the brick of korean/chinese/taiwan/singapure psp when restoring default settings. To prevent this, the region of those psp’s are faked to japanese when fake region is disabled. For same reason, korean region is removed from fake region.
- Added australia/new zeland and russia to the regions to be faked.
The installation is similar to 3.02 OE-A:
- Copy oeupdatemaker and oeupdatemaker% to /PSP/GAME if you are in firmware 1.50, or to /PSP/GAME150 if you are in 2.71 SE or 3.02 OE.
- Get the 1.50 and 3.03 Sony updates, and put them in the oeupdatemaker folder with the names 150.PBP and 303.PBP.
- Run oeupdatemaker. It will generate the dxar file DATA.DXAR, which has the following hashes:
MD5: 03186D46D2F1B0ACD923098BEBC87281
SHA1: 3C80833A970EEA16A94D74DAFF6220889A9CEE4A - Copy 303oeflasher and 303oeflasher% to /PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to /PSP/GAME150 if you are in 2.71 SE or 3.02 OE.
- Move the DATA.DXAR file to the 303oeflasher directory.
- Run the program. When it finishes, it will ask you to re-init the psp. When you do that, you will be in 3.03 OE-A.

3.03oe-a easy installer just bricked my psp… i had to put the 3.02oe-a install (DATA.DXAR & EBOOT) within the recovery folder cuz the original recovery files wouldnt work.. 3.02oe-a wud reinstall perfectly savin yur life… i have had the worse night of my life and i dont wish this on anyone of u… if yur installation crashes please try this …it unbricked me.

How can I install 3.03oe without crashes? Is it the problem with the easy installer or I have to install 3.03oe manually.
I just used the easy installer without a problem.
Before I ran the installer I deleted the dh folder and the recovery folder.
Make sure you click on the option for recovery in the installer and it will work the same as 3.02 OE.

EVERY ONE MAKE SURE YOU DELETE THE RECOVERY AND THE INSTAL 302%/302 BEFORE YOU UPDATE. ALSO CHECK PROPERLY AND SELECT GAME IF YOU HAVE 1.50, IF YOU HAVE 271 OR 302 MAKE YOU SURE YOU SELECT GAME150, BACAUSE THE EASE INSTAL WILL SELECT THE FOLDER(GAME) AUTOMATICALY THERE FORE THE UPDATE WILL BE INSTAL IN THE GROUNG FOLDER( THAT HAPPENED TO ME, GOOD THING I CHECKED BEFORE I UPDATE SO I DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, (BUT MORTAL COMBAT WILL LOAD IN 303 BUT WILL FREEEESSSSEEE EVERY TIME. THIS NEVER HAPPENED WITH THE 302 SO I DON’T KNOW IF TO GO BACK OR KEEP THE 303.

Not only do these compressed PBP’s work flawlessly, but they also properly pick up my save files from the playstation store versions.
If you are worried about not being able to customize your psp very much due to not having enough room on flash 0, you can free up about 2mb of space for modding. Goto the tutorials section of psp-hack’s forums and learn how (tutorial is for 3.02 oe-b but works just the same)
this will allow an EVEN BETTER “custom” firmware.
and Dark_Alex… if you keep this up, Sony is going to catch on and fire you from their firmware development staff… ;)

use the 3.02OE chaoszero installer and do it. works the same way. or even wait a couple of hours for the chaozero ez noob installer that will be out later.

I haven’t tried one of dax’s custom firmwares before, i’ve stuck with my 1.5 and DH. Can someone answer a few questions for me.
Can you still use ISO’s, do you use DH or straight from the XMB?

well u still can play the ISO/CSO/PSX and u dont need DH anymore. about the recovery mode it works …. but the Files itsself we are not sure yet. need to wait for some conformation
