2.80 to 2.71 Downgrader Released

Update: 0okm has released his downgrader to the public. If you know what you’re doing, and you’re willing to take the risk involved with downgrading/flashing, then go forth young Jedi — may the force be with you. Download below.
0okm has released a 2.80 to 2.71 downgrader for motherboard models TA-079 all the way through TA-086. Although in order to get a copy you’ll need to email 0okm requesting it — see source link below. Once retrieved, the steps are relatively straight forward:
- on FW1.50PSP:
Download PSARDumper
Download PSP FW2.71 Update EBOOT
Download PBP Unpacker
use PBP Unpacker to unpack FW2.71 EBOOT.PBP
copy FW2.71 DATA.PSAR to ms0:\
run PSARDumper on FW1.50PSP then press circle to dump encrypted without sigcheck and decrypted reboot.bin.”
to Dump “FW2.71 File” - on FW2.80PSP
Extract FW280DownDate2FW271.zip to ms0:\
check ms0:\F0 have 286 files and total size is 18,598,267 Bytes
PowerOff PSP to CleanReboot
Run xLoader on FW2.80PSP
then Run 2.71DDforTA-079~086FW2.80PSP
You can fetch xLoader here.
Once successfully downgraded you may proceed to FW 1.50 by using one of the supplied downgraders. TA-082 owners, ensure you use Dark_AleX’s TA-082 downgrader to avoid bricking your unit.
Perhaps we’ll see a public release in the near future.

because people with the TA-082 board can’t just downgrade straight to 1.5. They need to downgrade to 2.71 first to patch their system then run Dark_Alex’s new TA-082 downgrader.

yu gotta check it.. open your umd drive and near the top of it where yousee your mother board there should be some writing.. if it sayz IC1003 (its gonna be upside down) then it means its a TA-082

Patience Grasshopper, Downgraders in due time… We had to wait almost a year before the 2.6 downgrader. I am waiting for a 2.81 myself (and only because I would like both my PSP’s Synced again to 1.50 with DH emulation but I did upgrade to play a game on the 2.8 firmware b4 it could be emued’ knowing My other PSP would remail 1.50

For TA-082 users. They downgrade to this then use DAX’s downgrader to go to 1.5. Simple.

Is it better to downgrade using the original 32mb memory stick? Or can I use de 2GB stick I bought for my 2.80?
And I only have the USB power supply.
If I charge my PSP to 100% and keep it connected in the USB supply mode (usb + power cord) will have the same effect as the usual power supply?

Same effect as you have a real charger. I myself have flashed/downgraded psps from my laptop using the charger/usb cord. Works great, no chance in bricking or auto turn off. you can use the 32mb memory, but if u gonna do a update dumping, i rather use the 2gb stick. no need to format, just move the files to the computer. I did dumping with the 32mb stick, not a great success, cause some dumpers dont delete the eboot update that you have on there for dumping, then you dont have space when its dumping the last files, results in not a fully succesful dump. so use the 2gb and keep the usb and psp charged/plugged in and you be a top shape.
Use the 2GB stick. The 32MB stick is not large enough to hold DATA.PSAR and the unpacked files.

brazilian, i sugest that you use the 2 gig couse if you have ot make a file such as a psar file you will have enouph space, i dontthink the original is even big enouph for a downgrader. and there is always a chance of a brick, but id rather brick and have an excuse to buy a 1.5 of ebay then stay with 2.8 anyway. but thats just my opinion

2.80 and below all have a ‘kernel mode’ exploit through lbtiff, etc… 2.81 and above do NOT, thus no downgraders…
2.81 and above are probably effed as all the available exploits have been patched.

Do the hairdryer trick on the void sticker to get the screws out, and then switch the motherboards, and then try to return the bricked one to walmart (if you can actually carefully peel the void sticker off just to get the screws out without messing up….use a needle to peel it)

I have a PSP with FW 2.80 and its not TA-082 motherboard. It has no number inside the UMD drive on the top right hand corner. Has anyone tested the downgrade with sucess? what would be the risk ratio of bricking your psp?

well i bricked mine, my fault, i didn’t use the right dump, i was kinda intoxicated, word of advise do not mess with your psp while intoxicated!!!!!!!!! IT SUX!!!! I somehow diwnloaded the other 2.8 downgrader and tried to use the dump for this downgrader for the old downdater.
this is great work once you have 1.5 keep it as far as 3.3 being downgraded who knows it can happen but probably not anytime soon so I suggest you try to find a 1.5 psp or at least a 2.71 which then can be downgraded. I mean sure psp iso’s are great but playing ps1 games is even greater via dark alex’s custom firmware

Dude, calm down a little bit.
When I first bought my PSP it had version 1.5. I was really ignorant and had no idea what homebrew even was. It was then that I upgraded to 1.52. Little did I know how big a mistake I had actually made.
Basically to make a long story short I had to wait for version 2 to be released by $ony, someone to decrypt it, and for a usable downgrader to be released before I could downgrade. I WAS ONLY @ 1.52 WHICH IS VERY CLOSE NUMERICALLY TO 1.5. Only it wasn’t that close! It may only be one patched exploit but then someone will need to try to find another. That takes time! Sometimes a lot of time. There may not be a downgrader for 2.82 until they find an exploit that allows kernel access in v3.0 nobody really knows.
So chill out man and stop thinking that just because 2.80 and 2.82 are close in numerical order that they are close in code. Just remember this bit of info. The slighter the change in version number, the better the chance that it was only to patch an exploit.
Also the only way to keep up with $ony is to keep them guessing what we already know about. If we find an exploit there is a chance that they may not know that it exists. That is a perfect opportunity to sit back and see what they do with future firmware versions while possibly leaving a gaping hole for us to climb into. Why let them know all that we know? That would be like asking them to fix a particular exploit directly. Not a very wise choice, IMHO.
Calm down and be patient. Most likely you will someday have the downgrader that you hope for. Until then you can always find a game rental service through the mail or locally that will keep you playing a bunch of new games without ever buying one. I can play ISO’s yet I still have a continuous rental agreement through a local store.
