Prometeus 0.9.3 for Mac OS X
greg | December 29, 2006
Update: Dago^WATT has updated Prometeus to 0.9.3 earlier… It focuses on fixing a few reported bugs, namely those relating to PSX conversion. Grab it below.
Its been a long time since we’ve seen heard from Dago^WATT. But today he has graced us with a new version of Prometeus — the ISO image manipulation tool for Mac OS X. Convert your ISOs to compressed CISO/DAX format and vice versa. Also, with the included ISOgen function, you can extract/delete/replace files and generate new PSP compliant ISO images — all with a few simple mouse clicks!
What’s new since the previous (0.81B) release?
- Fixed PSX-PSP Bug
- USBHostfs support only for DevHook. (It sends only the following files: .iso, .cso and .dax)
- PSX -> PSP converter. It is not Popstation, it is more! You can use custom Icon (size must be: 144×80), Background (480×272) and Title (310×180) image files (.png) (Sample images included). Supported: .bin, .iso, .toast (not tested)
Note: you will require libusb — download it here.

wow.. nice stuff for mac users..
btw Destruction Derby all tracks cheat code: MACSrPOO :D
how can i convert psx to psp?
nice:)
share it for the WIN users.. we can’t have mac users have all the fun right?! lol
WIN users HAVE something. lol
its called ‘PSP ISO Compressor’
I use it on my windows. But now with this, I’ll be able to do the same on my mac. ^^
Anyone know if it takes a long time on a mac compared to doing it on the windows? o_O;
testacles!
seriously, this is pretty fuckin cool. i hate having to run upstairs and turn on the old Windows tower and wait 30 min for the damn thing to load up, plus it doesnt have high speed usb, so everything takes 10 times longer than it would on my Macs.
not loading on macbook pro osx 10.4.8 any ideas?
please
ptracker: See ReadMe.txt, Install libusb!
Won’t load on 10.4.8 here, tried installing the libusb and it doesn’t allow the install. Anyone have an easier way of getting this working? I’m not too familiar with setting up libraries.
yaaaaaaaa i love this thing its so cool
hey can someone please help me and tell me how to install libusb ?? i ve got osx 10.3 and downloaded the libusb files but have no clue how to install it…thanks
Download from here the libusb packages:
http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/
It is work!
to all of those who don’t get the libusb thingamabober, click on the BINARY version, and also make sure its for YOUR OS (ie tiger), i have a macbook pro and its working fine.
- Great work i had been waiting for this, before i have partitioned my hd, and had windows running, it sucked
I’ve got a macbook pro and tried the binary and the installer still won’t open libusb … any help would be appreciated!!!
man mac users are too rich to hack there psps
[i wish i was a mac user]
I wish I was rich! I have my PSP hacked and I am mac user, have been for 15 years. :) Now I don’t have to use VPC thanks for the update.
What exactly does libusb, do? will it stop my mac from adding files to my memory stick, that i cant remove?
good work but if we’re mac vs. pc over here…
1. if mac is better than why doesn’t apple conrtol the market (microsoft does with 98% of it)
2. Apple wouldn’t stay a multimillion (not billion, million) if iPods weren’t around.
3. I use both at school, and macs are like …uhh….here’a an analogy
mac os x:PS1::windows xp: PS3 (which rocks, by the way)
I hate OS wars. Linux kicks em all in the ass, but hay another OS another day
Your analogy is pretty poor. OSX is a great OS for the workload a lot of us carry (welcome to the design world, we live in OSX). WinXP is a nice OS, no doubt, but usability, stability, and overall enjoyment… Mac OSX wins. You can’t beat WinXP in some office environments, no complaints there, I use both in my office… but we primarily work in Mac. As do a majority of our design/print/prepress peers.
As for your Apple comment, sure iPods funded a large majority of the company endeavours… but take a look at a more recent marketshare value, and perhaps the value of Apple as a whole. Your dated view of Apple stock/share needs to be adjusted.
Intel Apple systems are winning users, their % increase this year alone is a bold step for em. My Intel mac has both XP and OSX on it… I love em both. GG having chocies. :)
Now back to your regularly scheduled PSP hacking!
ok, can we PLEASE not turn the threads on here into “Mac VS PC” every single time there’s a new Mac app posted on here??? that is so unbelievably retarded and it floods the thread with a bunch of CRAP that makes it harder for the rest of us to post bugs and fixes, crashes, errors, suggestions, or praise to the developers on a job well done. I think Greg and whoever else mods this thing, should make it a rule just like the “wooohoo first post” thing, where anyone who starts a “Mac vs PC” conflict gets a ban, even a temporary ban would be fine. Just long enough for the thread to get all the natural responses that it would normally get without all the CRAP.
What do you use to convert your psx discs to iso on mac? I can’t figure out what to do
Where do I put my BASE.pbp and the Keys file? Do I need them for this?
this is what i did. convert a iso into a pbp, then take the keys.bin from a game that was already converted. download a small game someone uploaded and take the keys.bin and put it together with the pbp you created and voiala! thats what i did and it worked =)
I have installed libusb and yet Prometeus won’t launch…..why? I am running Tiger and have installed the correct Libusb. Please help :)
Same prob Steffi, I installed the libusb pkg, and the app refuses to even load. 10.4.8
Is there some other lib we’re missing?
I can’t even install libusb. I downloaded the Tiger version of the binary. When I open the .pkg, I get a message saying that it couldn’t open it.
where do i put the libusb it asks me where to open it to
