Update: As expected… Here is the Easy TA-082 Downgrader from csfreakno1! Download below.
Are you sad and/or upset that you own a TA-082 PSP? Do you want to downgrade it and take advantage of all the glory 1.50 has to offer? Well guess what — you can!
Downgrade your TA-082 PSP running 2.71 with HEN-D; this made possible by none other than Dark_AleX, Mathieulh, and Harleyg!
This is an application to downgrade a ta-082 unit running 2.71 firmware and HEN-D to 1.50, although theoretically can downgrade to any version, but only 1.50 has been tested.
The application, at the moment of writing this readme was tested in 5 psp’s, with 5 success. As always, this kind of application have risks, this one in concrete write to idstorage area of nand.
READ CAREFULLY THE INSTRUCTIONS AND DON’T SKIP ANY STEP
Instructions
- Copy the UPDATE and idstoragechange folders into /PSP/GAME/
- Get the official sony 1.50 eboot and put it in the /PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder with the name of UPDATE.PBP
- Run HEN-D if you are not already running it.
- Execute the idstoragechange. It needs 75% battery. It will change some keys of your idstorage needed to downgrade the ta-082.
- The program will exit to the XMB. Now execute the generic downgrade, which will show in the xmb as “Update X.YX” in the psp language.
- The generic downgrader will also need 75% battery. IT will downgrade your psp to 1.50.
- At the end, it will ask you to press X to restart the psp. Do it.
- If all went fine, you’ll receive a blue screen telling you to press O. Do it, and reenter your settings. Welcome to 1.50.
- If things didn’t go that fine, you’ll have a non-functional psp, aka brick. You accepted that risk, remember.

I may be a bit slow here, but how could you unbrick a psp without a modchip? Wouldn’t the psp need to be on to run the program?

unlicensed software. You are on your own when doing it.
The method of ta-082 downgrade is based on research on hardware-downgraded ta-082 selled in ebay.
We realized that the process was not very complex, and easy to imitate by software.

woot isnt it ironic i just traded my friend my ta-082 yesterday after x-mas and *then* the downgrader comes out but even still this is the breakthrough of the century so in the future if we buy a new psp most likely can be downgraded. hi everybody! a little help here please. i did exactly what the readme says. but everytime i run the PSPupdate ver x.yz, it says “cannot find Update.pbp”. but i have the eboot 1.5 (renamed as update.pbp on psp/game/update. i also copied it and placed it in the folder psp/game/update/update.pbp *just to be sure) and still doesn’t recognize it. any ideas?

if your psp is 1.50 now u can upgrade it with the Custom firmware 3.02 OE-A after that upgrade it to 3.02 OE-B

The UPDATE folder is recognized as “Corrupted Data”
did u put the eboot in there? from the right firmware. if u got that problem then u might aswell dl it again. the update folder has to be in the PSP/GAME/ folder

I dont want to be a wet blanket, this IS one of the greatest developments since the first 2.0 downgrader….but, since a ta-82 is a ta-82, Will is still have some issues in flashing mods, once its brought back down to 1.50? Great work, I love it.

I ran into a problem…i downgraded to 1.5 great….but, trying to update to 2.0, it will not, says the system is corrupt….although still running. Going to try to upgrade back to 2.71 to see if possible, then downgrade again. This doesnt seem to be a super clean install, however it does it.
Upgrading to 2.71…worked, now running hend d, it shows the blue screen, but then flashes either red or green for a sec, but still seems to work fine…..trying to downgrade again….and it does indeed function…..thats it, its really reliable. Trying to figure out why it wouldnt upgrade to 2.00, going to use the upgrade from a umd, see if that makes a difference.

Just confirmed, upgrading to 1.51, 1.52 and 2.00 is not functioning….. but 2.71 upgrade still possible…checking other firmwares….

Works perfect. Downgraded in like 1-2 minutes. Totally worth it (now I dont have to load HEND then DevHook just to get 1.5, all I have to do now is flip a switch).

You can upgrade to 2.71. My PSP was 2.5 when I bought it early 2006, and I upgraded to 2.71 before I realized I couldve downgraded it. I downgraded my PSP using this downgrader and I’m running 3.02 OE-B right now.

your battery must be charged “at least” 75% before you execute the downgrader.

i think if its just like eloader(i’ve never used hen-d) you gotta pick the hend-d folder and let your memory stick load the pics for about three seconds then push x and it should run just fine…i think (i still havent done it yet i’m waiting on my battery )

First off, download Chaos Zero’s OE-A Easy Installer:

Run that from your PC (Not on the PSP). It will guide you step by step to installing 3.02 OE-A. After OE-A has been installed, download the OE-B update:

Place the folder OEB_UPDATE inside /PSP/GAME150 and run it.
Voila! You’re now running 3.02 OE-B!

man just download the 3.02OB-A for 1.50FW upgrader found in this website, remember upgrader for 1.50FW, coz there are 2 upgrader, 1 for 1.50 and 1 for 2.71SE. after downloading it put the files on you /PSP/GAME folder then run it. as simple as that.
man i just lived some intense moments while doing this downgrader. Let me tell u ppl, it works 100%, i was scared for a moment there after the blue screen that prompts u to press circle cuz my screen went black although i could hear when i scrolled through the menu. I tried restarting it but nothing until i pressed the screen button and the screen came up again.. wohoooo! I proceeded to install 3.02oe as if any normal 1.5 psp and worked again(used easy installer). So now i own a TA-82 with fw 3.02oe-b :). My respects to DA.

Today, on my TA-082, i first downgraded to 1.5. Then upgraded it to 3.02A, then patched to 3.02B. Now works like a dream, bye bye Devhook (a great prog it was). Thanks for all efforts of the teams out there.

the link for Hen D is right there with the program or you can use the easy install that will but it on your mem card for you.
my friends PSP bricked during the procedure. HenD, went fine. IDStorage, done. Restarted to XMB. Then, update upto 81% only, suddenly stops. with psr error. BRICKED!

Awesome I was able to downgrade to 1.50. Then I tried installing OE-A and that seemed to work flawlessly. Now when I try to update to OE-B I have no way of booting the eboot. Also I have no folder named game150. I did change the settings by rebooting and letting my “game” folder be kernel 1.50 but i still cannot see the eboot any help would be greatly appreciated :) Awesome work DA et al.

the HenD bare has 2 files, the HenD in the easy installer has 3 files when properties for HenD folder is pulled up, what gives

umm i just got my psp and i dont get “Run HEN-D if you are not already running it.” dose it mean to extract it.
it is assumed that we users of TA-082 are running HenD all the time considering its d only way to play ISOs via devhook, so i u r not ruuning it coz u restarted ur psp go RUN HenD

YES REMOVE USB CONNECTION and EXIT USB MODE then go to Memory Stick in the Games menu

I bricked my PSP:(…lol this is the fourth time this has happend to me. i guess next time i will try using the easy installer..BTW when you send your psp to sony do they relize what you did to it?? just a though cause now i have to send my psp to sony instead of direct exchange…
just finished…took about 20 mins and a lot of cold blood but i did it…and what a reward:D:D…when i got my psp for christmas and saw that i was cursed with the ta082 i almost cried….i never thought that 5 days later i would be at the same level with non ta082ers:D:D…this r0x…another 10x to D_A for his brilliant mind and for sharing it with us:)

I am the one who had there psp bricked. Horriable as it sounds “YES!!”. It happend. Installition was going great i got it to load up “hen” it sayed press x to continue and the files loaded up then i sayed restart. So i did and nothing happed. It bricked cant do nothing about it. I’m kinda mad but i cant say that because it’s my own fault. Now do not think this will brick your psp because i did not run “dev-hook” and i believe it works. So now i have to get a new one but i also heard theres a way around it to take out the “C-mos ” battery on your mother board. I would do it if i get the other one but it will void your warranty.
I think we don’t need dev-hook for this downgrading procedure …

Could somebody explain how to install or run HEND with DEVHOOK im a newbie here just got my PSP 2 days ago. i followed all steps except for run HEND ….2.71 TA-082

My 2 cents on the procedure:
First connect your PSP using USB, your PC will find it as removable drive
(1) Download the easy downgrader
(2) Unzip the file and you can find a EXE file, run it
(3) Choose the uncompression destination as the root folder of your PSP drive (by browsing) and uncompress the files
(4) Quit from USB mode
(5) Go to photo menu and when you choose HEND folder under MemoryStick, the program will run with blue screen first and then a green one. And your PSP will reboot
(6) After reboot, go to Memorystick folder under Game, you will find a folder called idstoragechange, run it (press X button) and follow the on-screen instructions
(7) With it finished successfully, go to UPDATE folder under Game->Memorystick, run it and wait …
(Please double check with the original instructions. Mine are just for your reference. No responsibilty will be taken :) I think the most important thing is to make sure you are having a TA-082 PSP with fireware of 2.71. Good luck .

Sweet, I downgraded to 1.5 > 3.02 OE-A. Now I try to upgrade to 3.02 OE-B and it gets a “game could not be started (80020321)” error message.
I have enough battery power, I have the disc in, i put the OEB_UPDATE folder in :psp/game/
Any ideas, on what to do?
Also, am i suposd to have anything in the psp/GAME271 folder?

Make sure you put your homebrew in the PSP/GAME150 folder.
And then you can load the homebrew from the memory stick like if you were on 1.5 FW

I think it can only be red at the moment because you’re running Firmware 1.5. (the option to change background colours does not come until later firmware. So i think updating to 3.02 OE-A and then 3.02 OE-B will give you all the new options again)

upgrade to 2.0?? to be honest i just bought my PSP yesterday so i’m new at this too. But basically if your PSP is a TA-082 (showing “IC1003″ in the top right corner inside the UMC compartment) then make sure your firmware is first updated to 2.71 before doing anything else. My PSP was 2.60 firmware when i bought it yesterday.

I wonder where I saw this source code…. Hmmm I think I saw this in Visual Basic format some weeks ago when some so-called downgrader was released…. Did you happen to modify that source for your own good? Because I been reading alot previously and took apart the application that was release by Chaos Zero a few weeks back and there are major similarities with this source code with the one he released

WOW I just downgraded i almost died but it was successful i really recommend this to people but be careful to fallow steps.
So now that I’ve updated to 3.02 OE-B, what does this mean? I can now play ISO games? and Emulators? Do i still need to run any more programs to do so? And i downloaded a psp game i own in ISO format from a torrent, but when i extract the .rar there are so many files, what do I do with them?

so i said f**k it let me take a chance.
So i used the easy installer. So started it left the room, and then i came back to see the results and im happy to say it worked thank you 4 everything. Many thanks to the betatesters
I was scared for my life that it was going to brick, but IT WORKED!!! I also got 3.02 OE-B working. Dark_Alex deserves more credit than he will ever receive. Regarding to your first question, no need to be too scary. Just least 75%. You can just with your charger plugged in.
Just wondering how to play ISO games on 3.02 OE-B? I donwload a demo ISO file “Killzone Liberation.iso” and don’t know where to put it and how to load it. Thanks for any help.
Never mind. I figured out. Just put the iso files in the ISO folder under the MS root directory. Remember to enable no-umd in your recovery configureation mode for some games.

I also want to know. Personally I think after running idstoragechange, the TA-082 motherboard could be regadred as Non-TA-082 ones. So I guess there will be no be problem to recover, though not confirmed …

yes… my psp here is a jap version… has a IC1003 at the back and considered as ta-082, my friend icee downgraded it to v1.5 from 2.71

okay i”m a little confused..I’ve successfully downgraded to 1.50 and then upgraded to 3.02 OE-B. For me to play my backup ISO files that i downloaded do i still need to install HEND or some sort of UMD Emulator? Thanks
no need to afraid anymore ta082 users this is for real…i was so scared but all i did was FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS…do the tiny ones to like have 75% battery and stuff…an you will have 1.50…yay

So I am one of the poor souls who upgraded the firmware in my TA82 PSP to 3.01. Is there anyway for me to downgrade to 1.5?
First of all, did you upgrade to 3.01 or did you upgrade to the 3.02 oe-b custom firmware? If you upgraded to 3.01, you will be waiting awhile for a downgrader, if you upgraded to 3.02 oe-b, I want to know why you want to downgrade, because most of the homebrew for 1.5 works f you put it in the Game150 folder.
