PSP Brew Fixes PSOne Save Game Problem
greg | December 27, 2006
Whether or not you’re aware of this, here is a quick and easy solution to resolve the problem when saving multiple PSOne games to your memory stick.
No more HEX editing. This version of PSP brew has proven be useful in many ways with the new firmware 3.02 OE-b. By renaming the eboot within PSP Brew, you save the problem with saving more than PSX emulated game. It has worked so far on of my own legal backups: MGS: VR missions, Castlevania SOTN, Silent Hill, Crash team racing and…Walt Disney World Magical Racing Tour.
(Insert lame excuse)
Try it out for yourselves and I hope you all have the same result. This program also allows you to make custom backgrounds and icons for your games (being that they meet the size requirements that is). Also the program allows you to remove that annoying advert in front of your custom backgrounds about plaid pants by selecting unknown.png and pressing cancel. So no more Hot shots golf guessing.
Please forgive me if this is common knowledge; I never knew about it. :)

hmm
how do you put the copyright on your memorycard and where do you put it
uhhh… im a complete noob what do you rename using PSPBrew? like what part do you rename to save
still have to hexedit the file with a hexeditor to change discid from scus94476 to scus#### of the game cuz it will just overwrite \PSP\SAVEDATA\SCUS94476 .. blah…
This app isn’t working for me, upon loading FF7 pbp the app freezes. It just sits there with an hourglass when i mouse over it and nothing happens. Had to reboot to close first time, 2nd time was able to close with task manager. Anyways hope someone can tell me how to fix this?
FF7 is a huge file to open.
I was using this 2 days ago. The only program is that it doesn’ let you edit the DISC_ID that the Hex Editing is all about doing. Yes it’s in the advanced info but thats all. So really this is all for the Image change and Title.
mm dont get me started on how to do the custom background..form the interface i kno nothing..!! im sure someone will find out soon
Hey everyone .. :D
ive used this program to change the .png files around, and changed the name of the game within the eboot, but it doesn’t change the save game problem, gotta hex edit the eboot’s
So, how would you edit them with a Hex editor?

dude, thx for the link… now i can save all my games perfectly…
onply problen now is the pspbrew thingy…so…slow-_-and i just can’ take looking at the hot shots golf guy…
I need to know how do you get pbp picture files so i can change my picture from hot shot golf 2 to tekken 3.
Google.com
Use Smiths’ program, it’s far simpler, and works like a charm. This program is pretty buggy, and freezes very easily, and is a pain to close after it hangs.
Care to post a link?
Smiths posted the link himself a few posts above this one, but here it is again.

I don’t know who’s masquerading as me below, but that ain’t me, that’s for sure! lol
no
What exactly is this problem with multiple PSX games? I have saves for both FFT and RE:DC and haven’t used any kind of hex editor on them, but both saves coexist and work fine.
Yeha me too.. soo i dont really have a Problm for it jejej ;) SO I just play normally jeje and i use it for Parasite Eve, Silent Hill, Hot SHots Golf 2, GT2, and Street Fighter Ex :) no problm with teh save thing
I gotta say this program is rather sucky. Once you get this program hangs, that’s it. You can’t end the application. This program does not allows you to Hex edit. What it does is only change the title. Its quite pointless
i think its only for games that have more than one discs.
Hmm…Crash Team Racing doesn’t work for me. Does anyone know how long it takes too load, because after 1min I get impatient and restart the PSP…
load and change the base eboot then popstation workt for me
this software is sucks…it will make your pc hang
Problem saving multiple save files? I’ve had no such problem. Just name the file your putting the Eboot.php and Keys.bin to whatever name you want (Such as the PSX game title). I’ve saved games for FF7, FF9, FF Tactics, Legend of Mana, Saga Frontier 1 & 2, Castlevania SOTN among many others. All of which will re-load without any problems. It is handy to change the icon however. :)
Just use PopStation KS GUI Mod v0.4… you don’t need anything else – A little GUI for PopStation that lets you change images, save id and title.

I use popfront, managed to convert Rival Schools, Q Bert, Final Fantasy Tactics, Metal Gear VR Missions and Castlevania Symphony Of The Night, all with their own icons & save folder, not like the noob downloads I got & deleted that had Hot Shots icons & save folder which is annoying & kinda useless.
Hi Greg,
I have been making many icon0, pic0 and pic1 for ps1 game to be used with popstation specifically for each game. Maybe you can make 1 column like the PSP Background for everyone to upload their custom made icon, pic0 & pic1 so that everyone can download it. I just want to share my stuffs to the psp homebrew community.
As far as I can tell there is no “save game problem” at all. When you save multiple psx games, the save files for them only show up once in the psp save data utility. It will show up as the last psx game you played, or as Hot Shots Golf 2 if you don’t use PSP Brew to rename the eboot. As Far as I can tell there isn’t even any need to hex edit, the saves work fine as long as you don’t remove the one save file that shows up in the Save Data Utility. This is how it is for me anyway, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t be the same for everyone else.
@ axelixc that’s a damn good idea :D
I would’ve saved the ones I made & uploaded them but now they’re part of the eboot, I can only get back the save game icon…
emm….too bad maybe it’s hard for him to decide with his management though.
TO EVERYBODY WHO HAS A MID-RANGE PC : DO NOT DOWNLOAD AND ATTEMPT TO UNPACK/RECOMPILE PS1 PHP’s WITH PSP BREW. It uses active system memory and will KILL your system resources and to the point that your OS won’t even be able to force it to shut down. It’s a waste of time. SMITHS POPSTATION FRONTEND is the way to go…in fact, I think that it should be on the frontpage as an alternative to this.
“PBP’s” rather.
Dude, i have Walt Disney World Magical racing Tour! I used to play it back in the day when we were in our other house in memphis, when i wanted to feel like i was back in my florida house, back at disney, not a bad game either, far as a irmember
man i need some pictures an stuff to put in .. i dont kno how the hell this works ..
How can I change the image on my psx games??
This PSP BREW alway’s freezes on me!!!
Can someone plese help??
Is there another APP out there??
i really want to put png pictures ont he psx games.. plz guys cmon
THIS SUCK!!!!!!!!
do not try this at home
You can use the two standard POPSTATION GUI’s to change the images on the games (on the initial PBP compile) they just have to be the EXACT SIZE of the ICON and PIC files from Hot Shots Golf 2. I used PBP UNPACKER to get the pictures from the HotShotsGolf2 EBOOT.PBP and then saved them as “templates” to put other pictures in (in this case Rival Schools and Puzzle Fighter 2) in photoshop. Just put them all in the same folder as the Popstation and the Popstation GUI’s when you’re compiling your PBP and they’ll become the main images on your PSP.
THANKS!!…Hmm…It keeps asking me for the BASE.PBP??…The head-aches never end!!!
SOB
How can i make the Background music .AT3?? I would like to make background musci for my PSX eboots
To Every single person who says this sux or it crashes or freezes. That basically screams that your low-end computer cannot handle the app, as it was explained above [[just so u don't have to search for it]]:

It works fine for me, and all this does is allow you to change the name, and pictures, AFTER it’s been converted to .pbp, nothing more. You CAN Hex Edit it with “XVI32″ to change the “DISC_ID” and allow for saves to be ‘cleaner’ if it isn’t working….
@GC:
try googling “.AT3 converter”…….u nvr know what you’ll find….
yeah its just a waste of hd space.. forces you to restart your pc..d@mnit!
I have seen the light!! Thank you squidman!
…I think… my computer…sucks…SOB (need more RAM)
All I need now is to change the images from that golf game to the real ones.
Any ideas Squidman?
(just for the record, PSP BREW worked twice on my PC)
You can use PSP Brew for that too…the blank rectangle things next to the icon……those are the the files you want to add to the .pbp, so just clik the X in there, and find the file, and then preview it to make sure it works, and just save it, and ur set =]
this works great, does look like it hangs but it just takes a while to load it, this program needs a progress bar..
also whats with the version .51? theres a version .90 out there that doesnt do this ? is this a split of the original version?
and yeah the save games work but they all go under 1 directory under psp, unless you hexedit it, you’ll just have a huge hotshots save directory and wont be able to trade saves easily or get rid of the ones you want.. better to have seperate directories for each game.. i think anyhow
squidman says..

this thing worked for me…for one game only…..i tried it on metal slug x and i added my own custom pbp files and replaced those ugly hot shots 2 images ……however when i tried doing it to castlevany sotn..the goddamn thing froze and i couldnt get the application to start…it just loads forever….i guess if the files are too big it freezez i had to reboot to close it……..damn it!!
Yes, this is an excellent app, but the prob with it is that it does like to work sometimes………the same .pbp i edited for PSX emu use just said that it was corrupt, so it’s a little unreliable at times, but hell, it does it’s job when it works!
and
@bLaNk_:
it’s not a waste of HD space…your computer just doesn’t have enough RAM to use it……so buy some more RAM and don’t flame the awsome, lol
hi, may i know which is the best PS1 emulator is the best to use?
Upgrade to 3.02OE-B….that has the best one…because:
1) it’s made by Sony and is proven to work
2) it’s been hacked on the custom firmware to run the games you rip yourself
