Two POPSTATION GUIs

Update: Quake has updated his POPSTATION front end: it’s now packaged with an installer and the VB source code. As well it is more user-friendly than the previous with a step-by-step noob process to convert your PSX games. The download link below (for Quake’s) has been updated accordingly. Check it out.
Some folks may be unfamiliar with command line when converting PSX games to a playable format on 3.02 OE-B. If you are one of those persons you will definitely find these tools useful. They are two front ends for Dark_AleX’s “popstation” conversion tool — both do accomplish the same result. It’s only a matter of personal preference from this point.
First we have danny_kay’s front-end for ‘popstation’ (source: psp2k)
At it’s very basic stages all it does is allow you to choose your iso image from a nice GUI, it still requires you to place the keys.bin and the base.pbp in the right place yourself however the GUI application will tell you if any files are missing.
Included in the rar are all the files required except keys.bin and base.pbp and a modified readme for the GUI. You can also still modify the images of the eboot by simply putting your pictures into the popstation directory as you would normally with popstation.
Next up is Quake’s GUI:
Use it inside the popstation(recommended) folder or on your desktop. All files are still needed to be in the same folder as the popstation.

Does anyone know how this playstation simulator reacts with multi-disc games (i.e. Breath of fire, FFVII)?
I havn’t tried but apparently aslong as you save before switching disks(like on ff7) and then exit and load up the next disk you should be alright.
That i don’t know either. I’m currently playing FF7 3disc. When i get to the end of disc1 I’ll certenly find out. lol

YES FINALLY!! I’ve been working on command prompt all day trying to get this to work and they released a GUI! Drn now I’m installing OE-B which seems to not work without installing OE-A… and the DXAR generator is taking a LONG time..
I had problems with the file creater using my 1gb sony card but ran fine on my 2gb sandisk, the sony card took over half hour just to repack the 1.50 firmware!
could be the memory card i was trying to install oe-a on a friends psp with a 64mb one and had to use my 2gig one in the end

I just placed a jpg pic of a psx game cover in the same folder with all the other files for creating an eboot of the psx game i wanted to play.But i still get a pic of hotshots golf 2 when i go to my ms and select the psx game i want to play.Where do i place the pic i want to show up on the game selection screen?.
Well for 1. PSP EBOOTS don’t use JPG’s it uses a PNG file. You might try converting that JPG to a PNG and place it in the same folder as the rest of the files.

I use the Alcohol 120% with the Speed as 1X Datatype: Playstion then Imageformat: CloneCD image then use the image file thats needed for the popstation.

that cyg.dll file or whatever, why cant that just come complete with the download. thats almost as annoying as those bios issues with the GBA emus.
then this part REALLY confuses me. everyone says you dont need a PS3 or the Sony store anymore, but then how are we supposed to get Hot Shots?? dont we need the files that come with that in order to run this? and why cant those little extra key files be added to the Popstation downloads so that we dont have to own PS3s to use it? I was using one of those, and for some reason it had all these error messages that the file wasnt there, for the one they listed in this thread. but i did some searches and found the right one anyway. so I got it running now, thanks.

Read up. See the Link i posted above. use that. IT HAS ALL FILES NEEDED FOR THE POPSTATION. Now for as the why doesn’t it come with it. cause quite frankly it’s to simple. It’s more a Well I didn’t provide this with that so you can’t say that this was for that so you have to prove that it was for that. You know CLAUSE. Also. Quite frankly the files are to damn big for some sites to host. :|+ Hot Shot’s is 155mb alone. OK?
yes, but you dont need the full game anyway when all is said and done right? you just need the key files…so how big are those? and i thought maybe they werent under any restrictions like the bios files, so maybe they could just be added as part of the app, to save everyone this headache
It’s all needed. nothing can be skipped out of whats needed. I didn’t make the Rip Emulation program. I just know whats needed and whats not. So i think. I aint no expert.

i did find it kind of, but the file looks like a folder about 155mb and full of smaller files that look like “d-hsg2.r01″. am i on the right path?
them are the RAR files. Now you need to unrar them. If you have WinRAR you can simply right click and select Extract here or Extract files and select where too. YES you’re on the right track so far.
well there’s only one rar file, the rest are just documents ending in .r01, .r02, etc…
and one .nfo
the file info said 155mb for the folder before it even began downloading, so for some odd reason my computer thought it was at it’s ‘destination size’ (for lack of a better term) before the download even began. hence i have no way of knowing if it’s complete, and when i tried downloading again it went straight to 100%. so i guess maybe its supposed to look like this and I just have to unrar the one file and the rest will just go with it?
nm, it worked. now its a matter of finding that cygwin1.dll file and figuring out where to put everything and what to rename the hot shots file (it may be in the instructions im going back to look those over)
everything seems in place. now im waiting to see if the file works when its done being converted. its been about 40 minutes already…im about to go check on it

I got Resident Evil 2 working on my PSP…
well it worked perfectly for a while, but now the game crashes in the same spot every time. (its when you walk into the cop station) the screen goes totally black but the music keeps playing.

T-Rex. if you can block it. Dis the net. As long as the Alcohol doesn’t have net access you have full use of the program. If for some reasdon you forget to block it or dis the net. Just reinstall with key and remember to block access or dis the net. thats all thats needed. nothing more. thats all you gotta do. So dis the net for a few min’s and wham your set.

the torrent file didn’t come with a NFO file? if so right click it and select Open with. when another window opens select Notepad.
If you don’t know how to dis it. go into the Network and Dial-up Connections right click on the green connecting icon and select disable

So I’ve tried using both GUI’s.
The first one, lets me load up the GUI - Select the BIN file and click convert. On click, a Command Prompt box pops up, then quickly disapears.
The 2nd one by Quake wont even open for me when i click it.
Anyone have any prolems like either of these?

YAY, I finally got this bitch working. I finally used Alcohol 120 instead of win iso or magic iso and it works. There were still 10 minutes left in christmas when I finally got it going. So thanks for the Christmas present guys.

I Can’t get this working, it says **Fatal Error*** system shared memory version mismatch detected - 0×75BE0096/0×2D1E009C. This problem is probably due to using incompatible versions of the cygwin DLL. blah blah blah. Then it tells me to search for, and delete all cygwin.dll’s except for the most recent, and copy to the “pop” folder. still got the same error message.
This is even after installing the latest distribution of Cygwin. What’s goin’ on? Does anyone have a Tested Known Good Working cygwin1.dll they can e-mail to me?

erm i just search ggogle used the first link, and you have to install the DLL to windows/system folder.. well copy it there, just finished erm backing up one of my favs r-type delta, and run from the c:\ promte but these GUI`s make life easyer…. btw remember cue`s mfd`s and all other disk image formats can be renamed to ISO (as long as you rename the larger of the 2 files, you must also deselect “hide known file extensions” in your folder options) and boom it worked first time!!!! this is AWSOME!!
i still think sony should have just relised this, as as a normal dl service over the net, it would have picked PSP sales up no end!

I tried converting THPS 3 from an original NTSC PS1 game disc. I have the EBOOT for it, but when I try to start it up on the PSP i get the message from SONY with all the bull craap about how the original game was like formatted to be able to play on the PSP, but then the screen stays black…
I have HOT SHOTS 2’s eboot.pbp that i then rename to base.pbp i also have the keys.bin and document.dat (all of this is 155 Mo)
then i downloaded cygwin1.dll thing (1.72mo)
I made my ISO file with MagicISO, it’s a 600Mo ISO file.

use the danny_kay version. i tried quake’s thing and it didnt work right. danny_kay’s app is extremely n00b friendly. i actually have everything set up right now. i’m about to find out. it’s still processing the file. how long does it take on average? the iso I chose (Resident Evil 2) is about 5 or 600 mb. luckily all i wanted was to be able to play the Resident Evil games and that was the only PS1 disc i still had laying around.
i was just thinking- is there a way to make the game screen a bit bigger? it’s curently very small(half of the screen of my psp)..it’s kinda hard to play you know =/
theres a setting for that, in pretty much the same place as you’d find in the Namco classics UMD. its either Start or Select that pulls it up. I think its called “Ratio” on that menu.

no offense but these gui’s are like worthless. they save ya 1 step at most. They should at least everytime u convert copy over the keys.bin and eboot file into a seperate directory . i know they are the first to come out but still..
FIRST MAJOR GLITCH FOUND
We really should make it a point to list these things as they happen, assuming we are all loading different games for the most part.
I have successfully loaded Resident Evil 2, after backing up from the official PS1 disk. It played perfectly and beautifully for a good chunk of game time, but then it crashed on one spot. I think it has something to do with the way games are programmed, in the sense that it’s a problem that presented itself while the game was preparing to load the next area of gameplay. So maybe it gets glitchy while some games switch over through the various levels.
Anyway, for those who know the game, it freezes over at the end of the intro section of gameplay, right when you click to go through the door into the police station. What happens at that point (on my system) is that the screen goes totally black and all the buttons are non-reactive, while the background music keeps playing.
oh yeah, i almost forgot to mention…i played through two times just to be sure, and the same exact thing happened both times at the same location

There is some bad thing i’ve noticed: when we use same base.pbp for different games, they save data in single file, are there other ways to fix it besides change base file?

I have a couple of psx games pirated but when i make iso i cant play it in my psp…. I cant use pirated games? or theres wrong with the iso program I used? (nero and magic iso) , the only succeful game i played in my psp is suikoden1 which i got from the net help tnx ( ang dami ko pa nman pirated ps1 sayang!!!)
i think a lot of people use some kind of unpacker program to pirate the old PS1 games, which is why most of them aren’t going to work on this…
you need an actual disc for the game, and some kind of disc copy program to make an iso file of that
but why can i emulate this using ps1emulator when the cd is in the cd-rom

I got my old pirated ps one working i used magicISO and converted mycd to .bin files it work. I thing I dont really like is this can only save 1 save data huhuhu, I’m playing tekken2,street fighter ex2 and suikoden1 yipee!!!
I tried to convert my bin file with change PIC1,PICO and ICON0 but the popstation just flash, I remove the created .png files then i can convert it now. maybe it dont support .bin file? coz a I dont have a problem changing the image with an .iso file

when i’m in the xmb and i’m going to launch the ps1 game, i’m getting this message that says “To use this content, you must activate the system” i used the update to 3.02OE-B and followed all the steps, anyone else have this problem?
i don’t know if someone has asked this, too busy to read everything but does someone know how to not overwrite the savegames when you save a file?? cause if you play FFVII for example and save and then play RE3 and save it overwrites XD anyone know how to overcome that??

To the people who’s asking about how to save and not overwrite another game’s save file, you need to change BASE.PBP’s Game ID first (the default is SCUS94476), just before you convert your PSX ISO game to EBOOT.PBP.
To change that, get any hex editor (Google for XVI32) and open BASE.PBP. Go to offset 304 (decimal) and change the game ID. Now save the changes and proceed the normal way to get your new game’s EBOOT.PBP.

hey boot i just figure out that you don’t need to do that, when you save diferent games they all stay on one memory stick which is SCUS4476 and it was kind of dumb of me cause the saves don’t overwrite XD i just noticed that when you play any game the save file is right there :P, well just wanted to let ya know, tnx for the HEX thing it may be useful sometimes
i havent used hex before. is there an easy way explain how to change the game ID or will i have to read up on the ins and outs of hex editing.

if you have trouble finding it while you’re in there just go to “Adress” up on the bar click “Goto” make sure you’re on decimal and just put “304″ it will take you directly to the SCUS94476, just change it for example to SCUS94477 or something…i think that’ll work.

Anyone else in here try Resident Evil 2 yet? I’m curious if it’s something I did, or if maybe this game wont work right on this emu. It seems to load perfectly and plays great for the first level of gameplay (i use the term “level” loosely, but you know what i mean…) BUT then it seems to crash when you open the door to the police station for the first time. The screen goes black and the music keeps playing. Anyone else encounter this specific problem on this game or anything similar on any other games?
I just got res 2 to work, is doesn’t support full screen without a slight corruption of the graphics.
it’s hard trying to dodge zombies on the tiny screen. Haven’t played it long enough to reach r.p.d but I hope it works o.k when I do.
full screen mode worked fine on mine, but that may have been a factor. im going to play through again in regular small screen mode to see if the glitch persists
tried it in small screen mode…still crashes in the same place
It’s confirmed. When I go through the door for the police station I see the open but then the screen turns black and the music keeps playing.

When i use this program to create an eboot file…i noticed i don’t have a DAT file as well.
When i download games that are psp ready they always have a DAT file in them as well as the KEYS.BIN AND EBOOT.PBP files.
How do you get the DAT file as well as the other files.And also how do you put in your own game image, so that instead of always seeing the hotshots golf 2 icon on your memory stick when you go to select a game…you see the pic YOU put in there instead.

hey killer if you’re talking about this file and how exactly to play psx games here’s my 10 step guide:
1 - download this file obviously “popstation gui”
2 - download hot shots 2 from torrents or something…(you do know what a torrent is right??)
3 - extract the “popstation gui” files on a folder
4 - extract the hot shots 2 files on the same folder. ( you can delete the “document” file)
5 - rename the EBOOT.PBP to BASE.PBP with Caps
6 - now you have BASE.PBP and KEYS.BIN :D
7 - Put your img,bin,cue on the folder
8 - Open “popstation gui” and select your image
9 - wait till it creates an EBOOT.PBP
10 - Copy the EBOOT .PBP and KEYS.BIN to PSP/GAME/”name of your folder”
Play all day :D
(if you get errors or something it may be that you have to copy the “cygwin1.dll” to C:\WINDOWS\system32)
im still not sure how the pics work, i think that you have to rename your 3 pics to ICON0.PNG, PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG and put them in the folder where everything is…that’s what the manual says, but didn’t work for me XD dont know why.

First put in a blank cdr in your burner..then put the bin and cue files in a folder by themselves.Then open up nero.Click on “nero burning rom”….then click on “cancel”…then “recorder”…then “burn image”…then locate the folder where you put in the bin and cue files and the cue file will be highlighted…select the cue file and burn it.That’s it…

my gad..gran turismo (680mb or sumthin) took about just 4 minutes to convert..amazing..this really is excellent creation.. its amazing its free. truly great..

Now how is it illegal if you are using your own psone disc and copying them onto the memstick and using a vernurability in their coding? Heck, all the other shit that has happend on this site hasn’t shut down this site (which is odd, cause sony shut down lik-sang which had basically nothing to do with the psp hacking scene).

i’am still not sure how the picture thing works,evry game i make i still get the hot shot 2 picture on my psp.do i need some sofware to convert the JPEG. it says in the read that By default, the program will use the ICON0.PNG, PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG from the BASE.PBP. (hot shots)
If you want to use your own pics, place them in the same directory as popstation gui, and it will
use those instead. i try that it did not work,can someone help please.
ok i have to lil problems 1. i need the size of the PIC0 i cant find it anywhere 2. i have hotshots golf, syphon filter, and dino crisis and they all do the same thing i boot them and they go into the precaution screen sit for 15 secs and then my psp shuts off wut is wrong

try and get irfanview its free and after u convert rename ur pics to t1 of the 3 png files specified

whats the password for the Hot Shots golf? I got mine straight off a link from the sony store.
I, for the life of me, can’t get this thing to work. I have all the files, the problem is with the cygwin.dll file. It gives me a an “error” saying:
“system shared memory version mismatch detected - 0×75be00764/0×75E0084. This problem is probably due to using incompatible versions of the cygin DLL. Search for… yadda yadda”.
I searched, found no copy of any installed progams of cygwin. So, I download an installation of the “program” to try to get it to work, no luck.
It. Will. Not. Work. I’ve tried putting the cygwin.dll file into System and System 32, both times being seperated, I’ve tried pretty much everything. I’m about to try to install this program, again, and put THAT .dll into system.
Any suggestions, otherwise?
my cgywin.dll file is only in the popstation directory. not system or system32 or windows. and u probably need to download a compatible version of the file. try both. get another copy of the file, and put it in same directory of popstation.exe

I have an error saying that the BASE.PBP is not in the directory but the thing is that it is in the directory so I dont know….
use the Danny-Kay popstation it only asks for a iso or bin image and away you go..

Just a quick question, I downloaded the POPStation Full, now does that have the Hots Shots 2 in it already, or do i need too find that on the net, and secondly, I have tried it on a game and when i put it in my “Games” folder, it shows up as corrupt. Didnt know if this if because hot shots 2 wasnt included or if im doing something wrong.
POPstation full is READY to be USED. There is nothing to do accept slap a game image in that folder and MAKE the EBOOT. Don’t know how to? Use the newly updated Quake Front End. Install to the directory of the popstation. Run it and Use it.
i made the png files and named them icon0 pic0 pic1 but they are not working. help

ok wut ever pictures ur gonna use have to be converted to .png ICON0.PNG = 144×80 PIC1.PNG = 480×272 PIC0.png = 144×80 basically u wanna rename wut ever pic ur gonna use (ex. u have an image u wanna use as the icon so when ur scrolling thru ur homebrew u see that picture first , you gonna have to resize it to the icone size as sated above and name it ICON0.PNG all Capitolized

the easiest way to make an iso from a legit ps1 cd is with ISOProducer, just google it and you should find it.
It converts ps1 cd’s to iso’s in about 3 minutes. you will need P.E.Op.S CDR driver plugin, found in psx pc emulators.
i cant get my eboots to work now i make the iso and the pngs work fine but the eboots start and nothing will happen after the emu start. just a black screen i can use the emu menu but thats all. i have tryed two iso’s no good
Try slapping a UMD Disc in. Doesn’t matter what one. Demo Disc will work too.

help me with alcohol!! i have everything i need to get the gui to work, but theres only one problem, when i convert THPS3 with alcohol 120%, it makes it into ccd files, and i need an ISO, i saw someone earlier talking about imageformat: CloneCD? i am soo close! what do i have to do next?
try downloading ISOPRODUCER, it was made especially for ps1 image extraction.
I use it and it takes about 3 minutes to extract an iso.

forgot to say, i tried just renaming the img file to a iso and putting it into the folder and trying gui but every single time i get, “runtine error 429; ActiveX component can’t create object”

ok i have pretty much concluded taht it is not the ISO’s fault i think i have my inventory wrong, or the program is faulty on my pc, because I have the following all in the same folder:
-Popstation GUI.exe (can’t get to run)
-BASE.PBP (hotshots)(runs fine on psp)
-KEYS.BIN
DOCUMENT.DAT (notreally necesary but w/e)
-cygwin1.gll
-NBA.iso (should work)
-popstation.exe

I have a problem when i try to play the games. The game shows on the xmb, i select it, it shows some playstation writing, the screen goes black and then i get a “The game could not be started. (80020321)” message. Not to mention the fact that I’m trying to play Hot Shots Golf 2, not my own created game. I have 3.02 OE-B, what am I doing wrong?
