Holy homebrew-fest Batman, errr I mean, 0okm!
0okm has released the almighty 2.80 downgrader for non-TA-082 users. Yup, this does not work with TA-082 boards, so don’t ask. Otherwise, if you are an existing 2.80 user and wish to downgrade I highly suggest you follow the instructions very very carefully.

- Run moonlight’s “FW2.60 DownDate helper” on FW1.50 PSP to Dump “FW1.50 File” or Download “FW1.50 File” from psp-hacks downdater_final.rar.
Extract downdater_final.rar \DOWNDATER\ all file to ms0:\DOWNDATER\- Run FW150IPL_Dumper on FW1.50PSP to Dump ms0:\DOWNDATER\PRX\FW150_ipl.bin
NOTE: if no FW150_ipl.bin in ms0:\DOWNDATER\PRX\
Run FW280DownDate4TA-079 will brick your PSP !!!- Run FW280DownDate4TA-079 By xLoader

Don’t worry. We are the same kind of people. When there was this 2.6 Downgrader, I just bought my non-TA-082 Motherboard Type PSP, which was 2.6, and my first time touching homebrews, I was really scared too. But then, I said, “It would just work, if it didn’t, it is my fault to ban myself from playing PSP forever, all I have to do is to follow the instructions”, and it worked. It was a bit spooky to find your PSP to become a 1.5, but, you can enjoy all you can homebrew. Believe me, our idolized non-official developers will not play tricks on us. That is all. We have just received word from multiple sources that the downgrader, in its current state, bricks PSPs. Do not use it on your PSP under any circumstances. While it seems to be a problem with the IPL dumper, we’re currently not sure about it. We don’t know if the problem is a minor one, or something to be worried about.
At last count, we had confirmed at least 4-5 bricked PSPs. So, to prevent further damage, please spread the word. This will take a while to get fixed. DO NOT USE THIS DOWNGRADER JUST YET. IT LOOKS LIKE A BRICKER FOR NOW. Do not go to any other site and try to download it.”

I have just try this a it works, was a little scared at first but i was just like fukc it. instructions are a bit confusing but read carefully and u shouldnt have any problems.

I agree don’t download it until it comes out with a easyer downgrader. Do you git the FW150_ipl.bin file from your 2.80 flash0 or if not where can you find the file.

I have successfully downgraded my PSP 2.80 to 1.50. Hear are the step by step working
tutorial to downgrade 2.80 to 1.50 (Use at you own risk and good luck):
For 1.50 Firmware User:
1)Download “FW280DownDate4TA-079″ and extract “__SCE__FW150_ipl” and “%__SCE__FW150_ipl” in “FW150IPL_Dumper” folder to ms0:>PSP>GAME>(put here)
2)Download “FW1.50 File” from this site downdater_final.rar or there is a download link in ookm’s blog.
3)Extract downdater_final.rar>DOWNDATER/(everything) to root ms0:>DOWNDATER>(everything here).
4)Run “FW1.50 ipl” from your PSP Game menu under Memory Stick. It will create the critical file called “FW150_ipl.bin” in ms0:>DOWNDATER>PRX>(created here). Pls check to double confirm the bin file is in there.
5)Pass the “FW150_ipl.bin” to 2.80 user.
For 2.80 Firmware user:
Make sure your battery is fully charged and with the power cable on attached to the psp.
1)Download “FW1.50 File” from this site downdater_final.rar or there is a download link in ookm’s blog.
2)Use the PSP to format memory stick first.
3)Put the “DOWNDATER” folder to the root of MS. Wait for 1.50 user to pass you the
“FW150_ipl.bin” file and put it in ms0:>DOWNDATER>PRX>(put the file here together with other 7 prx files).
4)Download “eLoader v0.995 “Kriek” (Windows Installer)” or the manual install one from this site.
5)Window Installer: Connect your PSP to the computer. Run the “eloaderv0995.exe”. Follow the installer instruction to dump all the necessary files into the memory stick. Select “GTA version” during the installation process just to play safe (if you would feel safe by doing so). Make sure the installation directory is the ms0 (E: in my case) then click Install. Wait till it finish and exit.
6)Disconnect the USB. Reboot the PSP (not light restart),then go to PHOTO and choose “xLoader 280″ (DO NOT USE eLoader 0995 ! – it will brick your PSP). Do not click the “xLoader 280″ but INSTEAD press the PSP triangle button and click “Slideshow”.
IMPORTANT:
a)If the PSP hanged or crashed, just reboot it and try it again (It is because of the instability of the TIFF exploit).
b)If after you slideshowing the xLoader 280 and you notice the PSP screen become white and nothing happen with the MS light continueosly flashing, just reboot it and try again.
c)If you notice the PSP screen blink white and show the statement “The slideshow connot be started. There are no image that can be displayed.”, it means the exloit patch successfully delivered. Now just click back. Also you will notice your PSP become no sound when you scroll through the XMB. This is normal.
7) Go to Game under Memory Stick run “1.50DDforTA-079-081FW2.80PSP”. Press “CIRCLE” to Start. Otherwise press “CROSS” to EXIT.
8)Press “CIRCLE” and the program will say “start Downdate …”. Wait until the downgrading process finished, the program will say “Finished. PowerOff to Exit”. Now hold the POWER button up until the PSP shutdown then restart it.
9)You will see (probably in your first time) the BSoD screen (Blue Screen of Doom).
Press “CIRCLE” and the PSP will restart again and prompt you the “Initial Setup”.
10)Congratulation ! Customise through the “Initial Setup” and welcome to the world of homebrew freedom !
11) Simply check your version and confirm it’s the BIG 1 POINT 50 !
For non window user, download the manual install version, extract it manually copy all the files and folders of eLoaderv0.995 “Kriek” to the correct directories in the PSP MS.
so i just run the program let it write it on my PSP and then run the SLIDE SHOW on the xLoader and than go to the game menu and than rum the game and thats it? c’mon HELP ME OUT

But then the nex day i went to the flea makret and got GTA VCS…
it wanted me to then upgrade to 2.81
i did as so..
causing me to lose my eloader and all homebrew..

Which made me evevn more pissed of because then i had bought a 4 GIG sitck on that day…

I just succeeded on downgrading 2.80 with this easy installer and was did it work…….. http://www.portable-news.de/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1993&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
You MUST have a 1.50 PSP available for this to work. The 1.50 PSP is needed to dump the FW150_ipl.bin file which is NOT included in the downdater_final. If you do not follow this step then you WILL brick your PSP.
But to reiterate, it should work IF YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. Which I did, and my FW2.80 PSP is back in the happy land of FW1.50.
OK a lot has been said about the so called downgrade, now here is the truth.
The downgrade does work, you need a reliable source to download the DOWNDATER folder the FW150_ipl.bin file is 220KB and THIS MUST BE IN THE PRX folder.
Now if you have all the files it is now save to follow the instructions below:
1.. Place the DOWNDATER folder on the Root of your Memory Stick.
2.. Place the Ookm’s 2.80 Files into PSP/GAME folder.
3.. Use XLOADER to start up the DOWNDATER.
4.. After 2-3 mins it will say “Please restart your PSP”
5.. After restarting your PSP the BSOD will apear click O to this and the PSP will reset.
6.. Enjoy 1.50
Please remember you must have the FW150_ipl.bin file and it must be 220KB in size.
There is always a chance of bricking your PSP, so please be carefull and follow these instruction correctly.
TA-082 USERS DO NOT USE THIS DOWNGRADER!

It installs everything to your psp with a formatted memory stick. You then run xloader and go to your memory stick and run downdater it installed……
and thats it 1.50 psp

the easy installer is n00b friendly. just run the EXE and it installs all the files and folders neccessary. then run it through x loader and voila! on the psp forums we have had a 100% success rate with it!

Go for 3.02OE-A, you can always go back to 1.5 if you dont like it.
btw….many ppl bricked there PSPs because they screwed up in the process…..somewhere, if done properly it would work like mines….

all of you who have bricked, have you installed the folders to your comp first then copied it to your game folder or somewhere else. just trying to work out why there are just a few bricks so far.

re-download it, and make sure it actually downloads the full file size (ive had this happen on my computer before)
The easy downgrader is in german too… I hope someone makes a better one or translates this one im not trying it yet

Instructions
If you do use that easy install then MAKE SURE that you use xLoader rather then eLoader.
IF YOU LOAD eLoader THEN YOUR PSP WILL BRICK…
Here is just a QUICK guide to the easy installer…
1) Format memstick with a 2.8 NON TA-082 PSP.
2) Connect PSP via USB and run easy installer.
3) Select PSP drive in the easy installer and let it install the files.
4) Turn off your PSP.
5) Turn on your PSP and goto PHOTO -> Memory stick -> xLoader 280
6) You should see two icons in the xLoader 280 folder. If xLoader loads correctly then nothing should happen. If it fails then MS will blink and then PSP will crash.
7) Once xLoader is run successfully, goto GAME -> MEMORY STICK and run the downgrader.
8) You should see the DG menu.
9) Pray to God and cross your fingers.
10) Hit O to start DG.
11) Wait for it to say “Finished. PowerOff to exit”
12) Hold Power switch up untill psp is completely off.
13) Pray again.
14) Turn on PSP, you should now get a Blue Screen Of Death so press O to reset settings.
THIS DOWNGRADER IS NOT FOR TA-082 USERS
CONGRATS! You should now have a 1.5 PSP..
WARNING: I STILL RECOMEND AGAINST USING THIS … YOU SHOULD JUST WAIT FOR A FOOL PROOF DOWNGRADER… I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILTY IF THIS GOES WRONG…

You can format on a 2.80 psp just not a TA-082 psp as it will brick the TA -082 is a motherboard model

It’s because of the fact that the motherboard came with it’s specific firmware and downgrading generally kills the PSP.

This easy downgrader does work for *2.80* PSPs, not sure of 2.81s but for my 2.80 FW PSP, it worked exactly in the way I followed zozodouce’s instructions.

Just downgraded a 2.80 and it didn’t brick it. The instructions given above worked just fine. So, if anyone is worried about it, you shouldn’t. Just follow the instructions given by zozodouce and you’ll do just fine.
for Nukealator, the file is included in the easy downgrader

restart psp
go on the xloader
then the downgrader in the game bit
press O
then restart psp
press O on blue screen
then restart and im 1.50 no brick?

To warren, and MysticXG, yes people were messing up with the instructions, but as far as I’ve noticed, following the zozodouce’s instructions work best and hoping that you dont use anything besides a TA-079 to TA-081( motherboard IC1003 approx) you should be fine.

when I tried to start the downgrading process I got a message “Not a TA-079~081″. I checked for the IC1003 thing in the back of the psp and I dont have it. WTF? help plz
When did u buy it? could it be your psp has the latest motherboard model TA-086? This model doesn’t show the IC1003 thing worst still so far there is no report saying TA-086 can be dg.

Sorry if you felt cheated, but the downgrader only works for the TA-079~081 specifically. If you didn’t have the number in the back of psp, far right, under the screw, then you don’t have a board of the range. Since the easy downgrader derives from 0okm’s downgrader, that is the only thing you can use. Sorry, for the mix up. (google if you don’t know whether you have the right motherboard or not, I would recommend the psp.about site.

The easy downgrader is what I’m pretty sure they haven’t marked as a downgrader, but rather the original file from 0okm because the instructions are a tad complex, and likely to cause a brick. As well as the fact that people might have tried to downgrader without the 1.50 ipl.

To unbrick you need either custom firmware with a recovery mode (3.02 OE-A or below) OR a modchip with it’s own flash and recovery mode.

I would reckon you’re looking around the $100 mark AND you’ll need someone who is confident at messing around with tiny electronics.
You’ll need a new board – around $100 or a modchip which should be less with fitting.
if u hav a vaio….use its mem card reader&install recovery…when psp starts…ie if/without if press r-button….&click on recovery to 1.50….

If you do use that easy install then MAKE SURE that you use xLoader rather then eLoader.
IF YOU LOAD eLoader THEN YOUR PSP WILL BRICK…
Here is just a QUICK guide to the easy installer…
1) Format memstick with a 2.8 NON TA-082 PSP.
2) Connect PSP via USB and run easy installer.
3) Select PSP drive in the easy installer and let it install the files.
4) Turn off your PSP.
5) Turn on your PSP and goto PHOTO -> Memory stick -> xLoader 280
6) You should see two icons in the xLoader 280 folder. If xLoader loads correctly then nothing should happen. If it fails then MS will blink and then PSP will crash.
7) Once xLoader is run successfully, goto GAME -> MEMORY STICK and run the downgrader.
8) You should see the DG menu.
9) Pray to God and cross your fingers.
10) Hit O to start DG.
11) Wait for it to say “Finished. PowerOff to exit”
12) Hold Power switch up untill psp is completely off.
13) Pray again.
14) Turn on PSP, you should now get a Blue Screen Of Death so press O to reset settings.

It’s fine everybody needs to know something every once in a while. The best way to find out if you have a TA-097~081 motherboard, is to look under the screw on the ring side of the psp on the left side, if it says IC1003 then you have a TA-097~081 motherboard, otherwise you may not be able to downgrade.

ok well if you have the psp screen down then it is more on the left side of the psp for me. i have the IC6001 mobo.

No you don’t need a downgrader compatible with the IC6001 motherboard, rather your motherboard needs to be IC6001 to use the downgrader provided in the easy downgrader.
To the influrry of requests, I have the IC6001 motherboard and that is what I used to downgrade. If you have problems downgrading doublecheck the steps, try different variations, etc. As for the pics of the IC6001 that is exactly what you should have if you have TA-079~TA-081, otherwise there is simply no check that this will work.
Shadow, what exactly did you change variation wise? I am not really willing to take risks and brick my psp, i had to work for the money to buy it.
I didn’t really have to anything the first time, so my best guess is that I was lucky, my recommendation for what to do is look around the qj.net psp forums and you might find something. (and also as a sidenote as long as don’t actually execute the downgrader and tell it to begin after starting the icon from the xloader you will have nothing to worry about, else you will bite the bullet upon pressing O. (I didn’t so much change the install sequence but rather the psp check like if the battery had 100% charge as it should, usb wasn’t plugged in (sporadic among users), and beyond that I don’t know what else but try your best.)(I am also not to be held liable if you brick your psp.))
As a sheer warning to those that question how to do this anymore, the instructions are on my.qj.net as the first thing that shows up (if you can’t find that do a search for Shadow Man( my alter-ego there and ), and you should realize how to do this, as well as any associated warnings.

Yes and it worked perfectly. The only bad thing was i forgot to backup my savegames XD So now i get to start Killzone from the very beginning. A small price to pay for the ultimate homebrew psp though.

I’ve just followed those instructions and worked but i must say the install did not work corrrectly i had to copy all of the folders for the installtion folder on my pc to the root of the psp mem stick.
Then i followed the instructions as it says and bingo !!!

Sorry to say this but you may as well have a brick.
Did you install the .ipl correctly, if not the thing is guaranteed to brick outright. (it was included in the easy downgrader)

2. All files are included in the downgrader when it unloads all the files (including xloader- use, and eloader -don’t use.)

ive been reading the comments trying to figure out whats going on. it sounds like the easy downgrader works very well. is this true? what are the chances with it?
Does the easydowngrader include the xloader, or do I have to put it myself on my mem-stick after formatting it?

so the easy downgrader, is without the xloader. that means u have to downloade the 280 easy downgrader.zip and the xloader.* format the MS. after that put the xloader in the folder psp/game/ on the MS then format again and u say taht the xloader is still in there? i am not doing this for myself just want to make it clear. i am helping some one with his psp on msn. He has no CODES on his PSP. so it would bn fine to use the easy downgrader right. thx in advance.

Just as killer2 said, the xloader does come with the xloader. If you wan’t to check just install the files to a folder on the desktop, open the folder, find psp, picture, and you’ll see both xloader and eloader.

when you installed the easy loader, and you go to photo you see 2 icons. You should click the first one ?! Because the second icon is corrupted, is that correct ?! Hmmm and besides on the youtube 2.8 downgrader guides he doesn’t get to see the 2icons at all -_-

No, you don’t need to use patchSFO, pspvault probably did so to make sure it worked (which it kind of already was.), the thing is that the Easy Downgrader is already prepared for everything like the need for an 1.5 IPL (already in), the need for xloader (already in), and the need for other files that may be needed for the eloader or xloader. However, and I can’t stress this enough, THIS IS NOT FOR ANYTHING BELOW OR ABOVE 2.80 FIRMWARES, if you try to use it for a downgrade you will fail, and/or most likely get a brick. This derives(as in it uses those files) from 0OKM’s downgrader to downgrade, all it does is simplify the process, but it DOES NOT alter it for higher firmwares. Simply put FW 2.81+ and higher are unable to use it because it was meant specifically for 2.80 firmwares. (If you have any more questions head over to my.qj.net and look for “Easy DownGrader for Firmware 2.80 PSPs” by Shadows, it lists all that you need to know about this subject and will hopefully answer any questions that you may have. (And besides the fact that this is a shameless plug, I created the article and for the most part it answers almost all questions, if there are any questions for this downgrader, please shift them to that article’s comments and I will respond as quickly and best I can.)

ok, u no the psp’s without the motherboards, the 1’s that u got wen they 1st came out, well does this downgrader work on them???
