A pissed off Exophase has released gameplaySP 0.9 today. A whole whack of fixes (#), additions (+), and optimizations (@) have been made; still leaving this emulator in a beta state. Here’s the full changelog for your viewing pleasure:
- (#) Fixed stereo output being reversed.
- (#) Fixed a bug causing misaligned errors on 8bit writes to the gbc audio channel 3 wave data (fixes various super Robot Wars games)
- (#) Fixed DMA with garbage in their upper 4 bits (fixes a crash in Zelda: Minish Cap)
- (#) Added double buffering to the rendering, removes line artifacts. Big thanks to Brunni for the idea.
- (#) Fixed a bug preventing some SRAM based games from saving (fixes MMBN4-6)
- (#) Fixed a bug causing part of EWRAM to potentially get corrupted if code segments loaded in EWRAM cross 32KB boundaries (fixes Phantasy Star 2)
- (#) Fixed a bug causing games using movs pc in user mode (very bad behavior) to crash. Fixes Colin McRae Rally 2.0.
- (#) Improved timing a bit more. Fixes GTA Advance.
- (#) Fixed a sprite clipping bug (fixes crash in third boss of Zelda: Minish cap)
- (#) Increased translation buffer size significantly (fixes Donkey Kong: King of Swing)
- (#) Fixed a dynarec bug causing add pc, reg to not work in Thumb code (fixes crash in DBZ:LoZ, seems to fix crashes in battle in Golden Sun, probably fixes other games)
- (#) Made sprites using tiles < 512 not display in modes 3-5 (fixes a couple minor graphical bugs)
- (#) Removed abort on instruction 0×00000000 hack, was breaking a certain bugged up game (Scurge)
- (#) Fixed bug in flags generating variable logical shifts (fixes SD Gundam Force)
- (#) Fixed unaligned 16bit reads (fixes DBZ:LoZ in game)
- (#) Redid contiguous block flag modification checking AGAIN and hopefully got it right this time (fixes Mario vs. Donkey Kong)
- (#) Redid ldm/stm instructions, fixing some cases (along with the timing improvements fixes Mario & Luigi)
- (#) Fixed 14bit EEPROM addressing (hopefully fixes saving in a lot of games)
- (#) Completely redid memory handlers, accurately emulates open and BIOS reads now. Fixes Zelda: Minish Cap (roll bug, last dungeon), Rayman, MMBN 1 (last dungeon), probably others.
- (#) Fixed a minor graphical glitch on the edges of the screen (thanks Brunni and hlide for the help!)
- (#) Fixed crash on loading savestates from files of games not currently loaded, but be sure you have the exact file you loaded it from or gpSP will exit.
- (@) New memory handlers should provide performance boost for games that access VRAM significantly (ie 3D games)
- (@) Added dead flag elimination checking for logical shifts, probably doesn’t make a noticeable difference but should have been there anyway.
- (+)Added rapidfire to the button mappings.
- (+) Added auto frameskip. Removed fractional frameskip (don’t think it’s very useful with auto anyway). Select auto in the graphics/sound menu to activate it; frameskip value will act as the maximum (auto is by default on). Thanks again to Brunni for some help with this. Frameskip options are game specific.
- (+) Added vsync to the rendering. Only occurs when frames aren’t skipped. Seems to reduce tearing at least some of the time.
- (+) Added non-filtered video option.
- (+) Cheat support (Gameshark/Pro Action Replay v1-v3 only), still in early stages, doesn’t support everything; codes may cause the game to crash, haven’t determined yet if the codes are bad or the implementation is. See cheat section for more information.
- (+) Added ability to change audio buffer size. Does not take affect until you restart the game.
- (+) Added analog config options.
- (+) Added ability to set analog sensitivity and turn off analog.
- (+) Added ability to change the clock speed. This is a game specific option. Try lower speeds w/auto frameskip to save battery life.
- (+) Fixed savestate speed on crappy Sony sticks.

Read the readme file after you download this emulator and you will see why he is pissed. On a side note. Kingdom Hearts still crashes on me. And Sword of Mana still shutsdown after enter the name for the charcter. Oh well maybe next time.

he is a fucker for not giving us the bios though…i mean, really…i appreciate his work, but the only bios i could find doesnt seem to have working sound. it’s kind of retarded that everyone expects us to be a bunch of tech wizzes and dump our own bios, especially hard when you dont even have a gameboy advance! why doesnt he just rewrite his own version of the bios and give that out? thats how i got mine, someone was giving away free license versions they created. it would be interesting to see what he could come up with in that area if he put his mind to it.
You know if you have a gba and card you can dump your own bios (like I did)…or if you’re not retarted you can find it on IRC pretty easy…
I said I don’t have a gameboy advance, but I guess somehow you more more focused on insulting me than actually paying attention to what was being said. Secondly, I have never had an interest in using IRC. Not EVERYONE uses that crap you know…
actually, now that I think about it…it’s a very small portion of people using it, and they always think it’s some big important thing that everyone should use. Newsflash— it became obsolete when AIM came out, and that was a long fucking time ago.

I dont comment much but seriously, an emulator is just that, it emulates the system, it is not the creators responisblility to get you a good BIOS. Buy a god damn GB and dump the BIOS yourself, or get smart and learn how to search what what to look for. You guys need to appreciate that someone is willing to take the time to bring you something like this, you could at least say thanks and stop being cry baby bitches.

Not bad for an update, but I can see it came in a hurry. I don’t mean to be offensive, but I just noticed 2 bugs:
1. The gamepad’s configuration is lost after reboot if you change it (all gamepad button changes are lost).
2. Some hints in D-pad’s configuration page are misplaced.
Other than that, I can say that this version works amazingly enough for an average demanding gamer like me. Thank you very much, Exophase.

The intro in Kingdom Hearts still wont play, its all fuzzy and then just stops playing. I was only able to get past it once but after that i cant get past it anymore. fix please :)

well u know what i noticed this version wont work with harvest moon fomt when i loaded my state it froze.but the kai version does work now i have to have two different versions.anywayz like i said cheat help plz ne body!!!

i think you are trying to say you have 2.8 and want to know either if this thing will work on it or if there is a way to downgrade.
if you have 2.8, you are screwed for now. dont upgrade, just wait for a while and someone will come up with a downgrader for you
if u have trouble wit kindgom hearts on the intro put the frame skip to 79 or around that area and it will skip through the intro all glitchy frame skip 99 doesnt seem to work.so use 79

Aye, just a heads up, Guilty Gear Advances, which was working in the .8 release isnt working anymore. It freezes up at character select screen, and i get a blue screen. i can upload a screenshot of bluescreen if needed.

If you get this far down the message list exophase, thanks for letting us disable the analog stick. Although I bought a new (2.60) psp which i upgraded to 2.71sec I will use the old psp as a movie player, mp3 player and thanks to you a gba console, you are still the king as far as I am concerned and I will accept no substitutes.

dude, i was the only one bringing up guilty gear, and seeing it crashes the whole emulator, i think that’s something worth noting. i mean, id understand if it were a slight bug, like not seeing some almost significant detail, but not being able to play game, and locking up my console at the character select screen is no fun at all. I wasnt complaining either, i was just giving Exo a heads up. I do appreciate what he has accomplished for the PSP brew scene, so i thought reporting a bug may be somewhat use to further develop his emulator.
Its cool man. jus when its about the same bug more than 2-3 times…it gets annoying(not talking about u directly). My apologies for those who have legit bug issues, but try not to post em everywhere. Then there r those that say sumthin like “MY FAVORITE GAME DOESN’T WORK!!!! FIX IT NOW!!” …
Exophase has literally punched the faces of anyone that has tried to make a game boy advanced emulator on the psp. He is the sole reason ive convinced 5 family members to return the Game Boy SP’s they bought for their kids in exchange for having this setup on the PSP. By far, the strongest emulator showing yet for the PSP!!!

And on another note. the PSP is the STRONGEST “underground” gaming handheld ever made!!! Its capability with all the homebrew is absolutely amazing. Only when people find out you can run almost all old game systems on it via emulators do people begin to realize its true power, and its one that was never intended. I hope Sony never fixes it. Long Live PSP!!!
