fuck the PS1…all i want from that are the Resident Evil games anyway. why doesnt someone just make a port for at least one of them for the PSP? everyone seems to want it for that, and final fantasy, and tekken. so why not just port those and be done with it? (do Res Evil first!)

or, make some slight alterations to the code for the PS1 emu that Sony puts out so that it can be legally distributed, or at least analyze the code and use it to finish the emus that have already been started.

What they should have done is make a program so people can make and transfer their own “legaly” bought ps1 games over as the images that the psp reads to play the ps1 games.

Just a few things to say though,
@ #13 - there is no link to this, its on the PS3’s shop built into the console itself, the only way to view this, is to go onto a PS3’s internet service and check the shop.
Another thing I want to say is that some of you are saying sony are money grabbing or just plain trying to get you to buy there PS3’s, wrong wrong wrong,
firstly, they arent getting you to buy a PS3 just for this feature, this feature was fully implied prior to release, way way way before, so out the window that theory goes.
secondly the money grabbing issue, yes, to an extent they are, but its the only way to stop piracy for the PS1 emulator on the PSP, sony knows there are ISO’s and roms etc on the internet of PS1 games, and if one person can burn an ISO of a game to there memory stick by any means whatsoever, than who’s to say the whole world cant, or at least the owners of PSP’s & PS3’s, I just strongly believe the price for the PS1 games should be dropped dramatically, to about $2 - $5 tops.

In short, if you want a PS1 emulator on your PSP and/or PS3, but cant stop complaining & whining about the prices and lack of compatibilty, buy a PS1 and a screen with battery pack, it’d work out cheaper in the long run.

If you dont like that idea either, just sit tight, hold on for a fully working PS1 emulator on the PSP, they arent far of, theyre doing amazing work so far.

Kyul you are to warsh on people some of tham like Philthy are right. When you buy a game to play in PSX you bought the right to play that game in a PS Platforme dosent mater what PS is. If is PSone PS2 etc… The point is if you have a PSX game you have the right to play that game one the PS2, PS3, and PSP if she haves the capabilaty for that, whethe out paying for a new game becouse you alredy have the game. The opcions of playing in a PS new platforme is concidered in Portugual a Hardware update. So you pay 4 the new hardware but only that, you alredy have the software. The only correct way sony haves is relicing a freeware emule that we install in the pc that can only burn the original PSX game and can only be transfered for ONE PSP(thes is one selution) but there is oders 4 example if the games are not PSX games but new vercions of old psx games whethe new opcions (thes is very importante) the can sell the games in PS3 shop claiming that are new games.

Atencion to one thing. there is a diference bitwen a DVD player and a Game Console. In Nintendos case is diferent, the have thane te second opecion i rought. The games dont have the same name the originals have and to that have pout new fietures in the games so IS not the same game but a improved game. If sony do that to people can not complain about it.

But if the going put for example taken wethou new fitures, the are simply tring to sell something that we alredy have.

1st- Stop wining. Only buys who wants/can

2nd- The total price is big:
- you must have 1-2Gb MSDUO (as some games have several CDs or if you want more than 1 game on your card) = 40-70€
- you must have a PS3
- 3-6€ for each *old* game
- Looooots of time of waiting

I think this is is a high price to pay to just play some old games. The possibility to play our home made PS1 backups / directly downloaded from internet is a must!

Yes, the PS3 for download possibility is very good as some people may not have a computer accessible but *never* demanding a PS3 to do it…

Nevertheless this doesn´t make me a big fuss: there is no PS1 game that I miss off and if there is I can use PC´s PS1 emulators. I would never spend money on something I already have/paid!

If the PSP is selled more, thanks to the emulation feature, developers are gonna be more interested to make PSP games, idiot!

Looks like the people complaining about the price of the PS1 games could be the same people who are buying old games on Wii’s Virtual Console, and not complaining about THOSE.

The problem is not the price; I’d pay $6-10 for the ability to play my favorite PS1 games on the go. The real problem is the fact that there really is no effort put into the new versions. Why is there no Wi-Fi support in the PS1 emulator? What good is Tekken 2 with no multiplayer, especially when Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is already available? Why aren’t there any online features or redone graphics in the VC games on Wii?

I’m spoiled by XBLA, where you can pay $5 for an old game, but also get hi-def support, redrawn graphics and online multiplayer or leaderboard features for no extra charge.

I downloaded Crash bandicoot on my ps3 for $5.99. A couple of things:

1) you have to connect your psp by usb during download. It downloads it directly to psp and takes a long time.

2) I tried using devhook .51, but the game only loaded the opening page and then shutoff my psp.

3) After upgrading one of my psps to 3.01, the game ran perfectly.

If you have the money for the ps3, then go buy a cheap psp and upgrade it to 3.01-3.02 if you want to have ps1 games and keep homebrew. For all you cheap dbags, stop complaining.

Why do we need PS3 to play PSX games?
Cuz it has direct access to Net Store with a personal tracked account. Nothing more. So, downloading modified ISOs via PC won’t be a problem in a few weeks. As for certificate, something tells me it is generated according to a certain selected PSP system info while downloading or registering an account (if not ON PSP).

BTW, #45, PS3 is UNDERPRICED. Their production cost is higher. They just don’t want to loose some market share to Wii & XBOX.

I think a lot of people overlook the fact that most people are computer illiterate. Not in the sense that they cant use a computer. But in the sense that requires them to do some digging into it. In the case of having a big company like Sony saying hey you can play PS1 games on your PSP but do it on your own. I mean honestly guys even if Sony released a program that did most of the work for you, people would still be clueless. You know that I talk to people about homebrew all the time. And most of them don’t even know that you can get online with a PSP. Hell they don’t even know the top of the thing has a USB port. I’m sure you guys get my drift. For guys like us it’s simple stuff. But to the average person it might as well be rocket science. They just don’t get it. I mean their are people that have put music on the PSP or used the RSS feature. But 99% of the PSP owners don’t even know how to get movies on there memory stick. This is trully grown up stuff. So If I’m Sony I’m making it super simple even for the most clueless person to enjoy PSone games on there PSP and hey since I’m (Sony) doing all of the work why not make a few bucks off of it.
