This is a step by step guide for installing the new DevHook 0.51 along with 3.01 firmware:

1. Remove all previous DevHook files from your memory stick.

2. Copy the DevHook 0.51 package to the root of your memory stick. This would be ms0:/ and the two folders should be “dh” and “PSP”.

3. Download the 3.01 update (Google)or this site ;).

4. Get PSARDumper (search this Web site). or this site ;)

5. Extract the DATA.PSAR from the 3.01 update you’ve downloaded with a program such as PBP Unpacker. Once thats done, copy the DATA.PSAR over to the root of your memory stick.

6. Run PSARDumper on your PSP, once its loaded up press X to dump a sigchecked 3.01. Once its done your PSP will return to the main menu.

7. Open up your memory stick, you will now see that there is an “F0″ folder in the root. Move that to the “301″ folder inside of “dh”.

8. Go into the “301″ directory, move the reboot.bin into the f0 folder.

9. Launch up DevHook and go to “FLASH ROM” settings, choose install dh to flash1. DO NOT touch any of the other settings unless you know what you’re doing.

10. Finally, choose “FIRMWARE” from the DevHook menu and pick 3.01. Now start DevHook and you should be good to go!

I Had DevHook .50 and i had all kinds of problems with the web browser, are these problems still present? I don’t wanna get my hopes up and get it and find out it don’t work. Please someone let me know if the web browser function works in here….

To all the clueless people asking if this will work on TA-082 – NO. it won’t. You still need 1.50 or a modified firmware to run it.
It emulates 3.01, which is why you need the 3.01 eboot to extract the firmware.

Awesome news, this really gets me pumped! My only question is to its workability. Is this a beta like .50, or the full version? That was great to be able to play ISO’s and UMD’s, but was nowhere close to as smooth and usable as .46 emulating 2.71. Is DH .51 running 3.01 just as smooth as .46 running 2.71, or not? I’m really excited to see this, but if it is in fact a beta, I’ll probably wait for the full version. Either way, great work, Booster! Can’t wait to try it out!!

p.s. Does anyone know if the PSX emulator works and if you can run regular PSX ROMs or not?

OK for people who dont no DevHook is a firmware sort of “firmware emulator” and an iso loader it DOES NOT upgrade your psp! it only emulates the firmware in this case 3.01. wait for Chaos Zero to give you a rundown. oh and cutos to BOOSTER for this accomplishment.

The root of the memory stick is where you see your PSP + MP_ROOT folder etc. You need to place the files there, so it’s not in any folders. Damn if I had a dollar for each time I’ve been asked this lately I’d be making a nice little bank fund hehe.

3.01 gives me the WiFi 333MHz error! If I run 3.01 at default (WiFi works at those speeds) and then revert to 333MHz WiFi stops working!

BTW is there any way to run PS1 games on 3.01???

For those with 333MHz WiFi problem:
- power off (completly)
- run DH 0.51 with 3.01 at default speeds
- scan network
- AFTER connection if you change to 333Mhz sometimes work (for the 1st time it is working)…

Works fine, but apparently, it doesn’t support the Wifi, so you can’t go online or link play any more…

everythime I start devhok and select my settings then start the emulation it says:

After leaving Internet Explorer on PSP at 333MHz, the WiFi went off. Then when I tried again to power on WiFi it returned that error even if I put default speeds.

Conclusion: at 333MHz WiFi doesn´t work well. Options saves work well.

I had the wifi error, disabled 333 in devhook and went back to default seems to work now.

Guys – I have found it is easier to install DevHook after formatting the memory card. Back-up all your music, porn..er..video’s..and home-brew software to your computer then format the Memory stick. That’s how i got it to work. I had the same problem with .5 as well.
Installing it to FLASH1 is done by loading DevHook and going to FLASH INSTALL, chose the first option “install configfile to flash0:

Hi, I decided to move up from devhook 0.45 for 0.51. I formatted my memory stick and followed the instructions posted above carefully. However, when I run devhook (after flash installing the config files to flash1) it says it is rebooting (as previous versions) but the psp screen goes blank and then switches off.

I usually don’t encounter too many probs with running homebrew because I actually do read instructions, but I noticed that someone else had this problem also. I even thought that it might be because the psardump is labelled F0 and when moved it overwrites f0 in the dh/301 directory (captial F not lower case), but relabelling doesn’t change my result.

I have even tried starting again and still no change?

Any ideas? Thanks in advance and thanks for all the work on this release Booster

Has anyone successfully left a game? Everything works great (audio visualizations, camera function[sweet by the way], games, everything). But when i leave the games (home -> yes) it crashes back to the original firmware and i have to restart DevHook…

I don’t understand why step 8 is even there in the directions in #40 – when I do it, reboot.bin is already in the F0 folder after the dump.

Aslo, after the dump, the F1 folder has 5 or 6 folders, all of which are empty. At no point anywhere does anything get put into those folders. Is something just screwing up on me when I try to do this? I’m runing 2.71 SE-C

I just installed it and it works great.

I just connected my psp to my ps3 via the remote play. No problems so far.

I am currently downloading crash bandicoot via ps3 online store to test it out. The make you connect your psp to the ps3 via USB and then you download two files, 100KB license file and 466MB game file.

I’ll update how it runs.

I do everything perfectly, but when I click “Start” I get a black screen with 4 lines of text, then my PSP shuts off.

I made the dump with reboot.bin.

I meant redownload the files again. When I unrar the DH0510000 it did have the f0 & f1 directory in the 301 folder under dh.

drmadcow: Sony is not greedy, they are trying to cover several markets and to protect their pockets and employees´s. They are probably using PS3 because it has HDD and perhaps between PS3 – PSP some kind of encoding/key generation for that specific PSP is made. They force nobody to play those “10-year old boys´ games” ;)

When you use “Flash Install” it creates the f1 stuff. You only have to deal with moving the f0 folder to the 301 folder (make sure to hit “Yes to all” when it asks to overwrite the f0 folder that is already there).

is posting a FW dump inside of an installer illegal?

Run PSARDumper on your PSP, once its loaded up press X to dump a sigchecked 3.01. Once its done your PSP will return to the main menu.

PS. you guys should defrag and scandisk your memsticks. I figured out when i was installing 2.82 that the memstick had errors. Once I defrage it devhook installed flawlessly. Good luck, 3.01 is awesome. Thanks Booster! Now if only darkalex could figure out a 3.01 se firmware. Then the gift givving will be on full blast!

I have a real bad feeling about this “Sumkid” person. they seem to be some kind of Sony agent in disguise. first they tried getting Booster to set up a Paypal account, then they tried getting him to email them. Now they supposedly set up a psp hacks site that focuses on easier versions of this devhook and it only works if you register? Please…1- they probably set it up to upgrade you to 3.01 permenantly or to brick your psp…and 2- they want to gather information on where all the homebrew users are through registration. THIS IS A SCAM. DONT FALL FOR IT

alright, did everything, except when i go to flash in the devhook menu #40 says Launch up DevHook and go to “FLASH ROM” settings, choose install dh to flash1. i think the closest option says something like intall dh FROM flash 1. how do i remove old files that were flashed from the 2.82 devhook from a week ago? . when it rebooted it went to blue screen, i hit 0, then it wouldnt boot, just a continuous cycle of blue screen. formatted my memstick, and rebooted, now im not gonna mess with it until the installer comes out. but what im worried about is the flashing from the 2.82 devhook. how do i undo that? do i need to worry about it? thanks for the help guys.

and it doesnt have to be a real agent of Sony either. it could be some jealous kid that wants everyone else to be stuck with an upgraded psp or a bricked one, or it could be some jerk that has moral issues about homebrew users and wants to stop us from doing more ‘evil’ and ‘wrong’ things with our psps. some people actually do feel like we are hurting Sony with this and they think if we continue then Sony will stop making games and systems. Think about it, for some of the new PS3s on Ebay some people are paying thousands of dollars due to supply and demand issues. For some it may be considered an investment to look out for the company’s interests so they dont just end up making a handful of games for that thing. regardless of who’s wrong or right, this person seems to want to screw us all pretty hard (and not in a good way) so dont even go to his site. it may even be set up to collect cookies and MAC addresses.

well personally i feel it was way too soon for Booster to release this. its right before Xmas and like you said, sony is expecting this to motivate people to upgrade and buy newer games and the PS3. If they have another firmware ready and waiting they might go straight to that. someone earlier mentioned a 4.0 and i really wouldnt put it past them after the way they skipped to 3.01 so quickly. Booster should have just kept it tucked away for a few months and let Sony go on feeling unbeatable. Then once all the new games are sent to the distributors with 3.01 firmware theres nothing they can do. plus, Sony may have even let their guard down and just freely distributed their PS1 titles and/or the emu for that, thinking that it would only be useful to those with 3.01’s, and that such firmware is impossible to devhook. But now…who knows. But please don’t misinterpret me Booster I am very thankful you are out there doing this and so is everyone else here. I am in awe that you have accomplished this, I just think the timing of the release is a little bad for it’s potential success.

Had problems with devhook not booting into 3.01….

problem was with the moving of f0 folder to dh/301/f0

I was using a Mac OSx and it was completely overwriting all the files that were in dh/301/f0 originally…. when I moved individual files from the new f0 to the dh/301/f0 directory everything worked fine….

I have 2.71 SE-C and everytime I start the PSARDumper it will show the PSP boot and then freeze for a second then shut off. What am I doing wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Awesome release, BUT it doesnt allow you to play the PS1 games released by sony. They dont load and it resets the psp.

I upgraded to 3.01 on one of my psps and it runs crash bandicoot perfect from the ps3.

Anyone missing the f1 folder just create the following empty folders and devhook should install fine:

Just installed…bricked…lol, just kidding, works just as good as my actual 3.01 psp(dual owner here) still didnt put this on my 2gb card that still has dh0.46 on it, just wanted to see how it worked. By the way, I also copied the “fbm”folder to the root, dont know if this matters or not, but it might be something to try as it is not in the tutorial.

Ok, if you want to go back to 1.50…and you have a succesful install, just press home from the xmb…Options pop up, scroll down to exit devhook, press “o”…it will reboot to 1.5!!!

using henD i emulated 1.5
then i ran 0.51 devhook
then i went to “flash install” sor w/e and i selected
install devhookconfig to flash1
then i selected 3.01 firmware
and selectted start.
it did not work. i went to a black screen saying somedevhook was not found in ms0 or something like that.
and it returnemd me to 1.5 that i have emulated with HenD

also. i have my firends psp and his is NOT ta082 and it is downgraded to 1.5
so when i tried the same thing i said above on his psp
i got the same exact message.

then i did somme searching around. and i went to the flash1 of the 301 folder
and there was a binch of folders. but no files in them
so is something being worked wrong?

Ok, I can confirm that “Remote Play” for the PS3 does NOT work yet. You do get the image on the screen, however, the PSP controls seem to be disabled.

@#305 – you are screwed, nobody can help you once you passed system version 2.82 up to 3.01, you cannot do anything currently at all. I suggest you wait another couple of months and also at the same time, DO NOT UPGRADE! Even if its for just the PS3 or camera. Sorry dude, you’re outta luck.

@307, yes you have to uninstall, unflash the older devhook files.

@310, in the F1 folder of 301 folder, nothing is wrong at all. What you need to do, is do PSAR dumping with Sig check to every psp, because you cannot use the same Dumps with multiple PSPs. I have 4 right now, and tried it and couldnt share 1 memory stick for all 4, had to do dumping for each psp i had. ALSO YOU CANNOT DUMP THE PSAR (UPDATE 3.01) ON A 32MB STICK! NO CAN DO, I did it, and it was writing unsuccessfuly. I had to grab my 1gb stick, free up 100mb of space, and it completed successfully. I’m tellin ya guys, that because ppl try to dump on the 32MB stock psp stick, it wont work! results in Black Screen, or no budge/signs of 3.01. The dumping needs to be on a Memory Stick Duo Pro higher than 32mb, it may seem that it is successful but it is NOT! I recommend that you use 128-4GB memory stick for all your FW3.01 needs.

@311, this has been looked acrossed and is being concerned. It may seem that you have to play it back, (back it up first though) There maybe a fix for the older saved games in the next coming days-weeks. If you can, use the dual Devhook (5-in-1) at the http://www.psp-haxors.com site so u can still have all the old and new Devhook to play your old saved games.

#312, well, selling the psp would be the purpose of having the new stuff. Games will have fixes or compatible stuff. And who the heck would wanna play a game named African Safari? Steve Irwin with his Golden PSP? O_o

#314, Yes this actually emulates 3.01, or 3.00 in your words, I have pictures to confirm, and prove it. BUT this is still in beta stages. But so far I haven’t got any bugs at all. I’m still testing, and so far, no hiccups. It’s true….. and unbelievable.

@315, I’ll have to try to find that and then see if it runs for me or not. Maybe check back tomorrow or Friday.

#316, maybe there is an exit bug, try another game. Do a re-dump on a big stick. Then setup the devhook again, sounds like a exit crash to me.

#318, it should work for 2.8, but why 2.8 when you got 3.01 now? If so with 2.8, do a PSAR dump for 2.8, same instructions, different eboot update. and drop the F0 folder in 2.82 or 2.80 whatever you dumped in the corresponding folders.

I think i will only take questions from post 300 and up. I have finals to study but too exicited with this new DH to even try to study for it.

The F0 Folder is supposed to be 19.1MB (20,118,122 bytes) and contain 276 Files, and 11 Folders. (Dumped on a 1gb Sandisk Blue color stick) AND NOT 12.0MB (12,666,192 bytes) and contain 200Files, 11 Folders. (Dumped with Stock 32MB PSP Stick) This is directly to PSPer’s with only a 32MB Stick to work with, or dont run ISO’s and only new Games they buy. This is confirmed by me….again. So ppl having problems with running this new Devhook emu. It’s because your stick is too small (excuse the bad pun =P). Try to dump on a bigger stick, then copy back the files into the 32mb stick that you tried working with. This happens because this version of the PSAR Dumper does not delete the PSAR data eboot update file after it loads to the Ram, this is why there is no space for the rest of the dump. If somebody can hex edit (DA! & NOOBz!) to delete the PSAR file after it loads to RAM then this wouldn’t be much of a problem.

It seems it has trouble running cso and ripped iso’s playing untouched iso’s work fine. I hope theres a more stable and compatible release soon

ok..this really bothered me. i did the step by step on the installation guide. but in #8 Go into the “301″ directory, move the reboot.bin into the f0 folder. when i went in to folder “301″ there was never a reboot.bin there, it was already inside “f0″ folder. is there something wrong with my installation?

LOVE IT. installed on 2.71 se-c. Both 2.71 se-c and 3.01 working flawlessly on my psp. Things dont get much better than this.

hello i need help, i have a ta082 with 2.71
using henD i emulated 1.5
then i ran 0.51 devhook
then i went to “flash install” sor w/e and i selected
install devhookconfig to flash1
then i selected 3.01 firmware
and selectted start.
it did not work. i went to a black screen saying somedevhook was not found in ms0 or something like that.
and it returnemd me to 1.5 that i have emulated with HenD

also. i have my firends psp and his is NOT ta082 and it is downgraded to 1.5
so when i tried the same thing i said above on his psp
i got the same exact message.

then i did somme searching around. and i went to the flash1 of the 301 folder
and there was a binch of folders. but no files in them
so is something being worked wrong?

please help me.

AND sorry i forgot to say. i did do the PSAR dump thing where i get the F0 and i copy that into 301

everytime i restart psp it comes with a blue screen, try to flash itself and restarts but again and again and again comes blue screen :( :( :(

i was using eboot protector. i will try to boot an 2.0 updater from ms. if it works i will then i will downgrade it to 1.5 back. hope it works. if it doesn’t work i will have to go to fucking sony and they’ll flash my psp with 3.01 :’( :’(

Please help i’m on 2.71 se C, i instaled devhook 0.51 and i can emule 3.01 fine , the problem is , on the 2.71 c menu i can’t save my wallpaper , it says IT DOES but when i restart my psp it goes back to the default wallpaper (red)… also everytime devhook emule 3.01 it asks me to choose the language again and time etc (and i can’t save my wallpaper on the emulation as well) is this normal ?? please help thanks

I have frame work 3.01, I copied the devHook ino PSP/GAMES every time I start it it gives me the following error : cannot start game… am I doin’ anything wrong ? plz someone help:S

wifi can only be used default cpu speed….sux since some games run kinda retarted at defaut cpu speed while doing infrastucture online play :( hope booster fixes this issue

When it installed the flash… i left it sitting for 20 minutes and then i realized u gotta hit O then go back to menu.. It workz

i’m haing the same problem where i have to reset the time/date when running dh, exiting a game, and going back to 1.5

i would just like to point out that these 3.01 FW dumps ARE signchecked… so even if someone did send these files out after they’re dumped, they’re not going to be good to anybody but the original psp they are dumped on, with that said it seems an installer would be kinda tricky as well… not impossible, but if chaos_zero does in fact make an installer this time it will probably have to retrieve a signiture from your psp before anything can be installed… but hey, that’s not my field so anyway, i’m still trying to figure out why my emulated FW 3.01 returns to the initial setup everytime i reboot or return from a game. can i get any help

All this talk about cw cheat for 3.01, I still can’t run any games off my memory stick, any advice? When I run any game it freezes on the psp logo screen

Sony doesn’t suck, but they are soo damn slow. How long did it take to make firmware 3, witch, by the way, SUCKS. I was hoping on a PsPaint app, and the other stuff they predicted.

for some reason I didn’t have to do step 8 from post no.40, the reboot.bin was allready there.

goto step 9, run devhook, press O on FLASH INSTALL. press O on INSTALL CONFIGFILE TO FLASH1:

when thats done press O on INSTALL KD/RESOURCE TO FLASH0:

now press triangle, select 3.01 firmware and press O on start.

your psp will reset and go to the blue error screen (in multi languages) PRESS O again and your psp will restart back in firmware 1.5

now devhook .51 will emulate 3.01 fine, except you will need to go through initial settings everytime you load 3.01.

hope this helps anyone having trouble.
