PS1P Alpha 1

Gary13579 | November 25, 2006

It’s finally here! The long awaited (and rumored fake) PS1 homebrew emulator has finally been released. It may not be as fast as the official PS1 emulator, but at least you don’t have to spend $2,000 on eBay (that’s right, you must have a PS3 to use the official PS1 emulator) and update to a homebrew-less firmware to use it.

From the read me:

The wait is worth it. I’m releasing a version that will run anything. ISO, BIN, Z and ZNX. The rest you know. scph1001.bin and images in the __SCE__ps1p directory.

This version has some compatibility problems which I plan to fix soon, for example the FF7 intro movie doesn’t run. You can play the game though, just get past the intro using a standard PC emulator (PCSX, ePSXe, …) and copy over the memory card file (mcd001.mcr or mcd002.mcr).

Use L+R+ up/down to tweak the CPU timing.

I think L2 and R2 aren’t working at the moment too.

Attached the zip file.

–A.C.

Although we cannot give out the ISO’s for the PS1, we can give out a link to the PS1 BIOS file, which is required to run this emulator. You can download it here.

Download PS1P Alpha 1 here.

That would kinda defeat the purpose of putting an PSone EMU on your PSP when there is so many good ones available for PC.

2006-11-25 23:40:47

all you guys are noobs
1st you only need a ps3 for the offical emulator relesed by sony on 3.00/3.01 not this one

2nd 12. stfu you twa*

3rd no you can not use this on 3.00 because there is no possible way to load homebrews on 3.00/3.01 YET

4th the reason we cant use homebrews on 3.00/3.01
is that sony forces you to upgrade for better features
on the psp system e.g remote play, offical ps1 emu ect.
(which obligates there terms and conditions) and we should not be forced to upgrade to play newer games on the psp

Comment by DAY.WALKIN
2006-11-25 23:42:25

NOTE. i think it obligates there terms of conditions not sure i must check this if wrong then ignore my 4th reason

Okay, even after putting the scph1001.bin file and Ehrgeiz.sio in the folder specified, it didn’t like Ehrgeiz as playable when I ran it. I ran it on 1.5. Gonna try on DH emulated 2.70.

I have loaded crashbanicoot and it freezes when u try to enter a level. it seems to run really slow so its not really playable. all u people out there it should load with 1.5 or 2.71se-b which is what i used. make sure u put the ps1 bios file in the folder.

ps remeber if there are two files to put in the game folder one of which with a % sign then it will need to load with 1.5 or the custom firware kk.

Hey, this is a serious question – is there any way to run the image files from my computer and thus onto my PSP (i.e. play the games remotely)? I know it isn’t the point of this, but my memory card is small, and I’m not paying out for a bigger one until I can really be assured of the benefits, and, of course, a good PS1 emulator would convince me.

compatability chart is most likly coming soon, but it is still only in alpha stage so don’t expect anything until it becomes more stable.

I’m running a 2.71 ta-082 (yup, sony’s fucking dick up our ass) with HEN-C and loving every minute of it. It works good enough to be considered a ‘working’ emulator, and runs the 1 game I have tryed ( spyro). This may sound knid of dumb but Why doesn’t someone just modify the core sony wrote for thier own ps1 emulator? I know it may be built in to the 3.X firmware, but I’ll take a look at the dump when it becomes available (I am not updating, no offense, but I love my NES)

all in all: great step forward on the scene, and keep it alive

I am a little late on this great bit of news, over 100 on the comments, but all I have to say is…

ok, real simple. FOR THOSE ASKING HOW TO GET THIS RUNNING— its easy. download the program, put both folders in your GAME folder, then download the BIOS file (also included as a link on this thread) and open it up from the zip or rar format its in so that its just a .bin file, and put it in one of the two folders you just put in the GAME folder. make sure its NOT the folder with the % at the end of it. Then get whatever ISO files for the PSX you want to use and put them in the same folder. Its that simple. Also, remember that this emu is a little different than some others you may be used to in that it does NOT unzip the ISOs for you. If you insert zip or rar archives of your ISOs, it will crash. So, thats pretty much it. Also, it WILL work on a 3.1 PSP, but only if you go to the land of magical pixies and faeries, and find ‘THE GOLDEN DRAGON”, only he can undo the evil spell that the Sony wizards have cast upon those versions of the PSP.

sorry about the duplicate comment there. i didnt think it went through the first time.

by the way, I want to say this is a great bit of progress and it looks good, but just like the other PSX emus i have seen for the PSP, its a bit slow and theres no sound. I realize its probably hard as hell to get this thing programmed right, so no disrespect intended. But is there any estimate to how long you guys think it will take before this thing is finished?

also, what does the CPU percentage thing do? I know its a way of making it run faster or slower, at least I think thats what it does, but do higher percentages make it run faster? Or is it the lower ones? That part’s a bit confusing…

Guys all the games I tried are working (almost all no sound) but also very very slow, so it’s really not playable!, I think this emulator version is good for PS1 games training only!, because everything is in slow motion :), PS1 hardware is more advanced than PSP, so this is why it’s slow, so thinking about an emulator for ps1 on psp is not a good idea!, there’s should be a tool that convert PS1 ISO’s Games to PSP then load as an ISO on PSP directly! You will ask me how the emulator FW3.0 works, actually I think that PS3 is loading the game (or using it resources and PSP is just transmitting the PS3 display (maybe I am wrong! (It’s just my head!)
but anyway Really nice

Um, #134…did you ACTUALLY say “PS1 hardware is more advanced than PSP”? You do realize how completely retarded that statement is, don’t you? The PSP is exponentially FAR more powerful than the PS1, which is why Sony can successfully emulate it on the PSP. They just know how to access the correct memory allocations on the PSP because they’re not limited by the booting methods and lack of development tools that homebrew developers are. And, PS1 will NOT run REMOTELY on the PSP, Sony simply has not made the “STORE” feature available for the PSP yet.

Comment by sAintJimmy
2006-11-27 02:21:08

According to the specs, the PSP is more advanced than PS1, but not quiet as powerful as PS2, from what i’ve read anyway. On another note, i got Thrill Kill to display the Warning screen but it wouldn’t load past that, it may have something to do with the opening intro being a video, but not 100% b/c i’ve seen that FF8 works and i’m sure it opens with a video (i’ve not played FF8). I don’t have any other PSP games that are under the range of my memory stick capacity to test anything else

I like how this site says, “We cannot give you locations to ISO’s”, yet the site is called Psp-HACKS.com. Hahaha. Pussies.

By the way mods, it’s called ipconfig /renew.
And MiniNova.org is the best site to get ISO’s from. Or use UltraISO to convert your own PS1 games.

If you guys are looking for free PSP ISO’s and PSX iso’s, (Which I wouldn’t download PSX games because they usually kicked ass)

Anyway here are a list of all the torrent sites, just install a BitClient on your computer, like BitLord or BitTornado so you can download these illegal ISO’s.

1) MiniNova.org
2) PirateBay.org
3) Torrent-reactor.net
4) IsoHunt.com
5) MyBitTorrent.com
6) BitTorrent.com
7) Torrentspy.net
8) It’s like TorrentBox.org or something.

Anyway make sure you share. I mean who doesn’t want free f’in games? Most of you use it, you just don’t say it. Haha. 1.5 PSP’s = Free games.

Heres an idea .. all you people that whinge and complain about slow speeds/ games not working etc … YOU GO AND CODE A PS1 EMULATOR FOR PSP .. if you cant then shut the hell up and be thankful that someone is .. it was probably released as proof of concept and can only get better with time. Do you really expect that someone (with no relation to sony) is going to code a 100% perfect working PS1 emulator on there 1st release .. many coders release alphas (not the title of this emulator) to get feedback from the public, so if all you are going to do is flame the coder, then dont expect any future releases

Nothing “had to be said” 177 – you’re just another useless post whore who thinks cussing make your the shit, looking to have a name remembered and a little praise. Honestly, if it weren’t for our little geniuses who code the godly homebrew that make the PSP actually worth owning, I could just be full out embarrassed at the PSP hacking community. Not to say all the e-tards congregate here. They’re all over the damn place, but watching the trying to show off here is just IQ-dropping, mindnumbingly painful.

But back to the topic, just letting the people who aren’t already aware of this know that lots of neat-o savestates can be found at GameFAQs.com. The only FFVII ones that start at the beginning are all cheats – none of them start of as they normally would (stats, weapons, etc). But oh well, more power to ya.

Just a note to Bloodpool. I made a .BIN from my import “Metal Slug”, and it works very nicely. Moderately playable, even though it’s slow.

Unfortunately, mac users really have no easy way of ripping their PSX CD’s. I’ve tried creating a disc image with Toast, and using hdiutil in Terminal to convert the image to a cdr file and rename to .iso. Half of the games I tested failed to load, and the rest only got thru 1 or 2 developer screens before hanging.

lol wtf is up with all the people asking about ff7, look if you really gave half as much of a shit about the game that you think you do, youd own at least 1 copy whether or not you actually own a ps1 or psx. so quit fucking asking if it works and do some dam manual labour and test it your self. to answer the one question that i have seen posted on here like 8 times already.

NO it does not run at full speed nor does it have any sound because the emulator has no sound capability as of now, that kind of pissed me off because i could have swore i used a previous release and actually had the intro screen music to ffvii playing. but i cant find that same release anymore maybe it was an entirely diffrent emulator i dont know.

it does not run at full speed nor does ffvii have sound much less do any other of the loadable games. had you read the description you obviously ignored while clicking the link to the comments its stats clear as day that sound is not active in this release. best you can do is tweak the cpu timing to get it to push out an extra 1-2 fps, thats it!
