I say wait it out a bit longer, see what more tricks they have up their sleeves. Sony hasn’t released the PS3 worldwide just yet, so expect a few more Firmware updates soon enough, I’d say wait until a month after it’s out in Europe before starting on cracking/downgrading/exploiting etc…

Next thing u know, Sony will release 3.02 and by the time PSP-hacks.com posts it, they will say “Sony releases 3.02 firmware. 3.02 Firmware has been decrypted already! 3.0 was supposed to be a MAJOR release, and as long as we waited for the firmware, seems like Sony would have done more to encrypt it, but sucks for Sony, good for us :)

This is nothing more than a program that allows you to decrypt the 3.0 and 3.01 FW files so you can learn how to develop homebrew for it.

It will still be some time before they can use this to emulate it (in devhook) or even build a 3.0 SE.

On a side note, this is welcome news. I was just coming to the site to remove 2.71 SE as the only thing it can do that I want (SNES emulation) it sucks at. Now, I have a reason to stay.

Hmm, I suppose in theory that any PS1 game downloaded to someone’s PSP would be either:
A. Available for use in PS1 emulators for PC and
B. Able to copy the file to another PSP and run it there.

Unless they have some copy protection or w/e that makes the PS1 game download specific for your PSP (like encoding the MAC address into the game iso). I doubt Sony’d let people just transfer the PS1 game freely.

Assuming anyone here actually upgraded one of his PSP’s to a FW that we do not have a downgrader for and probably won’t for months, it would be a file that would only work on other PSP’s that are also of this new FW.

Basically, until we can get this into devhook or we go to 3.0 SE, it would only be for non-modded PSP’s.

I meant ISO’s too. Until we can get the 3.0 FW to run homebrew software (by emulating via devhook or by a 3.0 SE) the PS1 emu program should be off limits to anyone but those with unmodded, normally upgraded PSP’s.

Unless they came out with homebrew that runs in native 3.0 FW (like some work for the 2.71 NON-SE for the TA-82 users), TA-82 is incapable of running any kind of FW related to FW older than 1.5. Since 2.71 SE (and probably 3.0 SE) runs on 1.5, that is why TA-82 users CANNOT use 2.71 SE.

I do not see you using a 3.0 SE FW, but I can possibly forsee you running some HB on just plain 3.0 (or 3.01, whatever we adopt).

Anyway, as for 76, I believe you can run devhook for 2.71 NON-SE, so if your PSP’s already 2.71 or lower, you should be able to run ISO’s on a TA-82.

Not much else, but devhook works on it. :D

Just wait patiently for a 3.0 devhook. It should allow you to run ISO’s on your TA-82. Worst case scenarion, there’ll be a 3.0/3.01 downgrader available too (WARNING: YOUR TA-82 CANNOT BE DOWNGRADED, IF AT ALL, BELOW 2.50.)

i have a frimware 2.71 ta-082 i cant load isos that are firmware 2.80 or 1 is there a 2.71 loader that loads 2.80 isos for ta-082?

i downloaded this but I have no idea what to do, it didnt come with any instructions. I know where to put the two folders, in the GAME folder, but the “makefile” and “main.c” files…I have no clue what to do with those. Also, how do i extract the PSAR from the Eboot in ‘the usual way’? Whats the usual way for doing that? Throw some of us a bone here and dumb down the instructions a little so they are a little more clear. Also, I was wondering if the 3.01 upgrade comes with the PS1 emu and if you can just load PS1 files you have on there or if you have to use a PS3 to get them loaded.

ALL YOU DOWNLOADED THIS PIECE if your NOT a developer don’t bother asking question ‘how to use this / please give step by step help’ because it’s not for you… otherwise you wouldn’t have asked in the first place. IT WILL DO NOTHING… best is to wait for future updates.

PLUS I have ta082 on 2.71 and I can play ISOs, and emulate 1.5 for some homebrews, and also have a loader for those compatible. Its just too bad I cannot make use of the 271SE custom fw, but I’m pretty cool with my ISOs (cause I use my psp for gaming only and I’m not that interested with the other homebrew apps coming out).

Hope Dark_Alex will make a way for the custom firmwares to be available for ta082 mobos. To all those who say that it is impossible – suck you tits at the same time, you’re just too damn illiterate technically.

OK, for ll of u that don’t know, dumped means they pretty much extracted the files from the update’s eboot. decrypted im not quite sure but i belive thats what they do so devhook can run the FW dump. if you don’t know what devhook is, devhook is a program that lets people on versions 1.50 1.00 and 2.71 to change there version but be able to go back to the previous version. devhook is mainly used for loading games that require higher fw versions on a lower version psp. thats about as much as i can tell u off the top of my mind. hope i helped.

may take a long time but sony will never get rid of all the hackers in this world/other planets lol

Please note, i dont think it will ever be as simple as modding their “emulator” to play PS1 isos, this is because of one simple reason, the PS1 has TWO analog sticks, therefore i presume that the PS1 games have be modified so that the control scheme is playable on the PSP, therefore, i doubt you will ever be able to just rip a PS1 cd and play it on your PSP using SONYS emulator (or a hacked version of it)…

Its more likely that people will stat uploading the PS1 emulation Images that downloaded via the PS3 on torrent sites and the like, meaning you will have to download these to play PS1 games on your PSP using a hacked V3.00+ firmware… so dont hold your breath for the PS1 hacked emulator to come out…

3.00/3.01 has support for a ps1 emulator….
So just get what you need of the offical emu and start a new homebrew emulator and edit the stuff to use on psp as a eboot or prx for devhook, it should work and i would help but my comps really crap and i dont really know about how to make emulators

hey Murg thanks for the info. i forgot about those old PS1 controllers. its also possible that some of the games may not even be programmed to use the extra stick as a function for anything, or at the very least be used to toggle map modes and other things in the game that arent necessarily mandatory to use for gameplay. if thats the case, then some games might be playable, assuming of course that Sony hasn’t come up with a new proprietary format for those games when running them on a PSP.

um im sorry im new here so um what does this dumper do? and how is it so good? can u show me how to install it

of course the second analogue stick doesnt count for not being able to play certain games. the original ps1 controllers had no analogues at all and they were 100% compatible with all ps1 games. the 2nd gen ps1 controller only had an analogue on the left for more control over the steering etc and finally (which is the design they kept identical for the ps2) in the 3rd gen the y used the double analogue stick design. All games were perfectly compatible with the orginal(with no analogues) controllers and the analogues were an option u had to switch on if you wanted it anyway.

If you plan on playing Gran Turismo it will work fine with only one analog stick and no L2 or R2, as long as you don’t mind driving an automatic.

well i got an idea it could be possible to make the ps1 emu run by just using sony config for the psp and then adapting a pc emu for the psp using devhook or somethin as i used to use a ps1 emu on an old pc with pretty low config which could still run it

I just wish that Mr. Dark Alex comes with a 3.01 SE-A.

Personaly, i think it would be smart for all crackers to start working on a universal downgrader for a the 3.0/3.01 instead of wasting time on individual 2.6, 2.7,2.71,2.8 and so on, that way we have a secure downgrading point, the last being the 2.0, although some 2.5/2.6 downgrading has occured. (I realize a ton of work has occured, and I want to thank them all personaly for their help.)

As for the TA-82 motherboards, Sony did some magic there, introducing a whole bunch of problems for us. I’m all for free-enterprize, but I just want my PSP back the way I bought it back in Mar 2005. I can live without a web browser and WMA. I dont totaly understand why Sony wants to stop us.

I still buy my PSP games at pawnshops, and to me if I want to play a super nintendo, i get mine out of the closet and dust it off.

Man Half-Life 2 is such a good game even now. Even though Qua(gay)ke has better graphics (clishey with Dumb3–> Doom3) neither of these games can beat half life two and espeshely the Crowbar!!!!

if you have 3.00/3.01 (hatsos), your screwed, and cant do shit for a year or two before they find out how to downgrade

as for the person with 2.82 (Big D), wait for a downgrader (unlikely to happen soon though), or get a first edition of LCS and get Eloader (the second edition of Libery City Stories requires 2.6 and fixed the savegame hack, while first edition of the game requires 2.0 firmware and allows the homebrew goodness)

welll any of u don be in a hurry to upgrade cause according to some forums there is a beta devhook for 2.81&2.80 fw and possibly for 2.82 but its been held back for some reason maybe has some bugs or so and its reported that it does not support any iso yet

haha 3.01 came out with is security fix with in 24 hours of 3.00 :D haha sony got owned :O

im pretty sure security fix on 3.00-3.01 is to clean flash0 back to original state cuz people who had custom fonts and gameboots who updated still had them. im not sure if they fixed that and this is just a educated guess. and there is not kernal mode on 2.80 so u wont see a downgrader or devhook or anything. it was a poor choice upgrading for… im not even sure? recent games and rfs channel or sumthing..

Well long time reader first time typer. i guess i should get to the point as seeing that i have read most of the comments that have a lot of ppl thinking what will happen next.

my point is just this one have you all notice that someone has came up with a way to run a custom game boot off the mem stick if you think about it, hackers mite be able to run some of (if not all) the 3.0x boot files off the mem stick.

if that point do come in to play i do see DarkX (Dark_AleX) making a 3.0xSE-A boot loader type thing for 2.71SE
