X-Flash V16 with Limited Support for 2.71 SE-B
greg | November 4, 2006
Can’t get enough of flashing your PSP and modifying its behaviour? You know you want to be cool and unique, different from all your lame friends running 2.80+. Well, how else can you accomplish all that without Art’s popular X-Flash homebrew application — now including limited support for 2.71 SE-B. Of course full support for 1.50 remains fully intact.
Release notes:
New for X-Flash V16:
- Dual Firmware Support.
The same program runs on 1.50 and 2.71 SE, and behaves accordingly after the PSP firmware version is auto detected at startup. Limited support is provided for 2.71 SE.- Faster startup checking, and other small fixes.
Currently Supported for 2.71 SE:
- Disable Wave Effect (disables wave effect properly, so you don’t even see it for that second while your wallpaper loads)
- Custom Monthly Backgrounds, including Plain Black Backgrounds.
- Custom Font (sample font included is now the ASCII font).
- Disable Network Update Icon functionality.
- Custom Name Plate picture (Easter Egg “Art” name plate is disabled in 2.71 SE since only basic pictures work).
- Firmware Dump (At least 21 Mb free space required for 2.71 SE).
- Registry Backup and Restore Tool.
- Custom Gameboots (Plain black gameboot doesn’t currently work).
- Free Space game works. I may have to work on a new prize
Currently Disabled for 2.71 SE:
- Debranded intro and gameboot screens (may get fixed).
- XMB Menu Label editor.
- Firmware Version Spoofers.
- Coldboot and XMB sounds (may be fixed in a later version).
- Plain Black PSP About Screens.
- Some Easter Eggs won’t work because they rely on version spoofs, detailed name plate picture, etc.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Free space game? wats that
@ #2 – No, not all of them have a TA-82, check ebay. Also note, there is a new one labelled TA-86.
HEY HEY HEY!
You should not say that peoples with 2.80+ r lame
this is a quote from your article
“different from all your lame friends running 2.80+.”
Fuck you u lamer, and i bet u don’t know the word lame or lamer, u stupid son of a bitch, dickhead.
that is from all 2.80+ users which u called lame.
@ #7
HAHAHA u LAME 2.80+ USER
aaaaahahahahahahhahahahahahahahah n00000b
is it safe to run on a 2.71SE B”?
@ #9 YES :) and it´s wonderful to play GTA VCS with it :D
why? what does xflash customize on GTA VCS? sorry to ask coz i don’t have VCS yet:( too bad..
Ah, i think everyone is retarded in this comment about the 2.80+ user crap?
Never heard of custom name plate pictures… what’s that?
Does it work ok for 2.71 SE-B2.!! Emphasis on the “B2″….
Anyone know if this app supports 2.71 SE-B”(3)

can a psp dat has fw 2.71 SE B” be downgraded to fw 1.50?
Jonny Shu: yes. basically in this 2.71 se-b” fw, the core prx are still the same as 2.71 se-b. downgrade process is done in the recovery mode using 1.50 eboot.pbp renamed as UPDATE.pbp. anyway just be careful.
Just to let everyone know, do not attempt to flash something if you aren’t sure what it is. I wanted to flash something, and accidently scrolled down to far and hit flash new font. It tried 3 times and then auto exited the program, I was then presented with a pretty blue data is corrupt screen. Upon pressing circle, it just rebooted and I got the same screen, over and over. I was in 2.71 SE-B”, so I used the recovery, but still, be careful.
whatr are custom name plate pictures? are they the toolbox photo music ect?
22 in my case happen the exactly thing but i can’t use the recovery, its says some archive is missing update.prx from the eboot.pbp what can i do !!!!!!! ¿?¿?
plz help me!
24. just copy 1.50 EBOOT.pbp into psp>game>recovery>put here(together wif other files) & rename the 1.50 EBOOT.pbp to UPDATE.pbp. den u can downgrade.
when i hex-edit the sysconf_plugin.rco in flash0 from 2.71 se-b” dump, i would expect it is of 2.71 original fw. true enough, it’s very diff from 1.50 sysconf_plugin.rco. so no way xmb menu label editor work with this sysconf_plugin.rco. to those who r curious to click “xmb menu label” in x-flash, pls dun do so…unless u want to semi-brick yr psp 4 fun.
Please note, if you use a custom background image (such as the black background created by x-flash) you may lose compatability with certain games (as I did with Death Jr.) and you will have to reflash your PSP again with recovery to get the compatability for those games back. Remember, this may be different for each person.
