You can uninstall it before upgrading by using the recovery mode. Well, 2.71 SE lets you play any UMD that requires up to 2.8X for most, so there's no need to update until there are games that requires 3.00 released. It can lay music while playing games, just get the irmusic plugin/module and install it yourself.
