Most likely a way to do it has been found and rather than alert Sony to the flaw in their firmware 'brewers are waiting to see if it will be in the next 'major' release (you know, the one that's gonna have PS3 connectivity, PS1 emulation, etc.) and you will then most likely see a downgrader and a custom firmware using that version like 2.71SE does.
