SE-B Overclocking Module 02 Released

greg | October 29, 2006

Earlier yesterday Cpasjuste released an overclocking module for 2.71 SE-B users; however, you were unable to select your desired clock speed. Instead you’d be forced to 333MHz and no working WiFi. This obviously left some hesitant to overclock their PSP if sacrificing their online gaming experience was in question. Also — in order to initially remove the module you had to remove SE-B entirely through the recovery console. Well… Today Cpasjuste has released the Overclocking Module 02 which improves on these two silly problems — you’re now given the ability to select the clock speed and you can safely remove only the module. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 333 Mhz (fast but no WIFI in games)
  • 300 Mhz (fast with WIFI WORKING in games)
  • 111 Mhz (Slow but save battery)

Another thing to note is that while remaining in the XMB the PSP will clock at 222MHz. Only will overclocking take affect when playing any PSP game.

To install: copy the contents of this zip archive to your memory stick. Ensure the “oc” directory ends up in the “ms0:/PSP/GAME150″ directory. Launch from the Game menu and you should be set.

Again, as with any firmware modification tool, use at your own risk!

Nice work Cpasjuste.

yeah it does work with seb2′ i got this from the site listed as the source on the front page
ello there ! I’v made a long break on the psp scene but i’m not dead
Its 02h40 here, I’m really tired sorry i past the quick made readme.

Some few precisions :
- XMB will remain at 222Mhz
- Compatible with SE-B and SE-B’ (SEB2)
- All is automatic, no possibility to switch games back to 222mhz (exept if you remove seb with the recovery).
- WIFI IS BORKEN FOR NOW WITH THE MOD, NO ONLINE PLAY.

to all the guys playing psp carbon and having the smoothness problems are u using the cso or the full iso. as i have a ripkit which creates both cso&iso but with the cso it is really choppy and with the iso it plays perfectly. and this is all without changing clockspeed.

i believe you have to be at 1.50…i downgraded usign the generic downgrader then put 2.71 SE on. As long as ur psp is not a TA, and u fllow the downgrader instruction u shud have no problems

@10 u have to downgrad ( and u have to be on 2.71 SE-A,B,B’ ) u can use any downgrader u want but I suggest u to upgrade to 2.71 and use genetric downgrader ( it really gives you a fresh flash ) ..
oh .. btw I’m going to add this to my uFlash on the next release ( as the host didn’t front paged me u don’t know anything about it :( but u can chech it out on qj )

Yeah, Liberty City Stories lags considerably when CSO’d as well. That may be a factor.

The PSP’s processor can run up to 333Mhz. So running it at this speed technically isn’t even truly ‘overclocking’, its just allowing the PSP to run at its most efficient clock speed. True overclocking would be any speed over 333Mhz, and I haven’t seen a program that does that yet. I don’t know what speed the PSP normally runs games at, but this program allows you to run them at 333 all the time. This would decrease loading times, etc. You won’t be harming your PSP, because it’s made to run at that speed. You’ll just use more battery.
