I’m having an issue with the XMB freezing every time I attempt to access the ms from the game section. Turned ever configuration on and off, moved games around, formatted MS, and still freezing. Any help on that?

Great Work Dark Alex is there anything you cant do. This guy introduced me to 1.5 psp’s with his exellent 2.5/2.6 downdater, then SE-A which was exellent and now SE-B with ISO/CSO’s straight from the games menu, what next?
once again great work for the scene.
p.s 1. Why would we still need devhook
2.Has anyone got a Matrix gameboot working on these SE firmwares as all the ones I have tried do not work.

I want to use this from my 2.6 as an update, dark_alex said this is possible but didn’t want to create an installer as this would brick the TA-082 motherboarders who would not read things properly….

OK, I have resolved my issue with upgrading from 2.71 se-a to se-b, I used the recovery menu to reflash 1.5, then reflash 2.71 se-a, and upgrade to se-b 6 times, every time coming with the same problem, try to acess the games from ms and it would freeze and shut down. This time, I took my data file I used for the 2.71 se-a update and used it for the se-b fresh installer and I have no issues, so if you come across this problem, reflash 1.5 then update to se-b from 1.5 and skipp the se-a.

@30 perhaps your MS is playing up? when i first installed 2.71 SE-A i had to reformat to get devhook re-installed and working

Well I did just like the Readme file says and it install ok. I got Version 2.71 SE-B now. But one little tiny prob. As soon I go to game then select Memory Stick it freezes then shuts off after a few seconds. Am I screwed or is there a way to fix that? Please help!

i like 2.71 SE-A but i cant play .dax and .sco on it so i dowgraded back to 1.50 but i also cant do it there anny more :S can someone help me??

35 I am having the exact same problem, i tried what 30 said, but it only flashed the 2.71 se-a again. I am using the default 32mb memory stick, and i used irshell’s usbhostfs -> ms0 redirection to create the data.dxar file, and it said it was created successfuly, as this should work just fine, and it installed fully, then I go to enable flash or wma and i get a system error and blue screen, I hit circle and it resets to default, still says I have se-b but it doesn’t work when i go to the game menu

what did you mean? wifi game or web?

I had the problem with it freezing after you select memory card to fix it all I had to do was create a folder named ISO in the root of the memory stick.

suck it up and downgrade to 1.5 and then upgrade again to 2.71 se-b, you need the .dxar from a 1.5 anyway, so you might as well just downgrade. You won’t find any info on installing from 2.6, DAX doesn’t want to make things any more complicated than they already are, look around people are having enough problems running a fairly simple install from 1.5 (and I’m sure someone will brick trying to install). Can you imagine the bi**hing and moaning that would ensue from all the people having problems trying to update that way as well? This way there’s only two sets of instructions DAX and co. (and other kind people in the scene *cough*Chaos_Zero*cough*) have to clarify for people.

If you want this CF but are having problems, wait. You know that within the week Chaos_Zero will make another one of his beautiful installers that make everything so much easier.

wi-fi works ok if you switch the CPU clock speed from 333mhz to 222mhz in devhook 0.4x

If iso’s dont show, MAKE SURE you have a GAME folder. I renamed mine to GAME150 and GAME271, and didnt put a GAME folder in, thus iso’s didnt show.

Clean your 2.71se-A (remove custom fonts, gameboots, etc etc, then system-> restore default settings to clean up more) before upgrading to B!

i cant manage to use the recovery menu. I need to downgrade back to 1.5 for a certain reeason, but if i put the generic downgrader in “RECOVERY” it goes to xmb saing that i have a error “20010002″ or similiar….please reply at dlbarchiesi at tiscali dot it

Updated from SE-A with custom gameboot and fonts, there was no problem in fact, I still have my gameboot and fonts PLUS I can boot my UMD drive game AND have an ISO in the game/memory stick section of the XMB. THIS is exactly what I wanted, and since I prefer CSO/ISO over DAX, I will stay with this, even when SE-C hits the scene

Would it be possible to add a feature like swapping X and O button? I have a white jap psp and i dont like to push O for accepting oO.

Dark_Alex wrote in the readme that the old flashing tools for swapping/mod dont work.

What’s the point in having devhook at all in this release if it runs isos? What am I not getting here??

my only reason to use devhook is to load up .dax since games like GTA:LCS, Burnout Legends and some others run smother in dax compression than .cso, and yes I´ve tried lower compresion levels with .cso and I still get graphical lag with .cso´s and .dax is just pimp!

Killzone Liberation works from the memstick, but if I try loading it thru devhook .46/USBHostFS, it doesn’t load. Gives an error.. Wierd.

To everyone with the problem of the xmb freezing when you try to access game on the memstick make sure you have the following on your memstick:

A folder called GAME in your PSP folder. A bit obvious but you’d be surprised!

A folder named ISO on the root of your memstick. You need this regardless of whether you use iso or not.

A folder named GAME150 in your PSP folder. Put all your 1.0/1.5 homebrew here.

Now you should be working correctly.

Excellent firmware, but my Nhl07 randomly dies for no reason at different points during games. Which is really annoying. I haven’t tried out any other games yet. If all the bugs get worked out of this it would be awesome.

# 81 i have the same problem . I upgraded A to B but that di not work , Went back to 1.5 and upgraded to 271-b and made sure i had all the folders but still freezes at game.

I was having the Same problem with XMB LOCKING UP when going to Game folders. I just added ISO folder in root and GAME150 and GAME. WORKS GREAT!!!! Now I have RSS and a WEB BRW on my 1.5. Thanks!!!

@91: Boot while holding R (Enter recovery mode), enable USB connection, download recovery pack somewhere. Put it in PSP\GAME\RECOVERY. Download a EBOOT upgrade (1.50, 2.00, 2.50… etc) rename it to UPDATE.PBP and put it in the PSP\GAME\RECOVERY folder. Now run recovery (3rd option) and reinstall a normal firmware.

This SE-B is fantastic. The problem which i had with SE-A has gone, no broken menu in DevHook. Because you dont need to go into Devhook anymore!! Which is amazing, seeing thumbnails of your ISO’s on your memory stick. What more could a PSP owner ask for! All ISO’s are working fine, no crashing no nothing. Dark_Alex, much respek this is the best release i have seen for a long time! One question, is there any way to disable the PSP booting into the game i always leave in? On FW150 i got the usual need to update so it always stopped there but on the 2.71SE it always launches the inserted UMD. Cheers and Thanks again. Brilliant!

@yan .. i used my worthless 32mb MS and transfered the RECOVERY folder to it. than I popped in my 1gb, formated it and no more corrupt icon. If i need recovery ill use the 32mb.

@TomO: what i always do is to open the UMD drive before booting my PSP, i know there is another way, which is to use the parental control level to stop the UMD from autoloading, but.. im not sure abt the details

repent, no matter what country’s firmware you use, you’ll get the same data.dxar.. in order to swap ur X and O buttons, u need to get a registry flasher that can replace your registry file. do it with X-Flash on ur 1.5 before upgrading to the SE.

Hi guys….wonder if you can help me out please….. I upgraded from SE-A to SE-B, but am having a bit of trouble. When I try to load a gamesave for FIFA 07 and start a match, it freezes 3/4 the way and reboots. It’s only happening when I try to run the gamesave (profile). If I just try to play a game, then it’s ok. Further, if I run Devhook, then the gamesave works fine??? Any ideas as to what’s going on here?? Also, I thought that I would downgrade back to 1.50 and start all over, but the recovery (through the R button) won’t let me doowngrade. It keeps saying “game cannot be started” then reboots!!?? Any help / advice would be much apreciated. Cheers.

You must have the 1.50 eboot renamed as UPDATE.PBP and place it in the PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/ folder in order for you to run the downgrade. Try again and tell me what happens.

@repent: yes, becuz the registry is located in FLASH1 while the SE flashes to the FLASH0, so it doesnt affect the X and O buttons. ^_^

it will shut off trying to go from one round to another after doing all the cut scenes and w/e…..i was so happy to hear i didnt need to load devhookany more and that all my isos and my emu’s can be accessed at the same time but its not working all that ell for me. WTF???

u bricked ur psp mate, thats what happens if u play around with the psp flash without knowing what ur doing, its pretty much useless now

@ 131 Yes it means your psp has become about as useful as a paper weight or a house brick as it will no longer start up. Try the recovery mode as previously mentioned. (Hold R while u power on the system). It may be possible for you to flash the 1.5 firmware back on to it.

On topic though. Big up Dark Alex this firmware is the nuts!! Runs everything i have and it is up to date, i like not having to mess around with Devhook anymore as well.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to modify the order of the items in the Game menu though?????

For example ISO’s at the top and Homebrew in a specified order and the single corrupted icon at the bottom. I have a tool that can organise the homebrew into a specified order but this will only work wth the \GAME folder and not GAME150, GAME271 or the ISO folder. My understanding is that it is sorted via the date modified\created time.

I installed SE-B, awesome! I love the fact I don’t need DH anymore. One question. I didn’t understand the use of PSP\GAME150 and PSP\GAME271 folders. I put the iso’s in there and they don’t show up on the menu only when i put them in the ISO folder. Also, the only two games i have a problem running are ultimate ghosts and goblins and 50 cent bulletproof. anyone else have a problem?

Just rename the game150 folder GAME and rename the GAME folder GAME1, then after you organize them rename them back

I just bought a PSP, and I want to install DA’s Custom Firmware Version B. My PSP’s firmware is currently version 2.71. In reading this forum, I’m under the impression that I have to downgrade FW 2.71 to version 1.50, and then upgrade to DA’s CE Version A, and then to CE Version B. My question is, how do I downgrade to Version 1.5 without bricking my PSP, and what software do I need for this? I have the 1.50 Firmware Eboot file. Are there any step by step instructions that are easy to understand?

here is my question I just bought a psp to and it has system softwear ver. 3.96 and all I want it to do is play a nintendo emulator and to play a iso or sco of my games from my 4gig mem card what firmwear will let me do that and how do I down grade to it. and if I buy a new game will i still be able to play it without upgrading. thank I am new to this psp stuff, I though it would be cool to play my roms I have on a psp thanks
