It’s great news for Homebrew… but for ISO loading… would you want to downgrade? Especially, since 2.71 with HEN C you can load ISOs.

you know what, no what i just said is not true and i was right to say what i was going to in the first place, 2.71 will never take 1.5, on the basic idea of simplicity.

if i have 1.5 emulating 2.71 than all the iso games i have will work pretty much right off of the dl finishing, but something im sure alot of people are overlooking and i did too till right now when i had a flashback of the pain in the ass it was to get games to work is that whether or not you get iso loading from emulated 1.5 doesnt make a diffrence. because how the hell is anyone going to be able to incorperate any of the prx files (needed by all the old school loaders) to flush with the dumped 1.5 files? thats fooking rediculous and alot of meangless work. so like i was genna say before…2.71 will never replace 1.5 or even really compare as an equal to it. DARK ALEX is doing some really nice work with 2.71 that im keeping an eye on very closey waiting for the day that he says he has programmed full homebrew support on 2.71. at that point as godly as 1.5 no one will ever have to see its face again… well beside having to reboot to add more dumped fw’s to the devhook interface. at that point emulated 2.71 will not only carry the capability of playing any and pretty much all isos, but also remove the step of having to reboot to 1.5 whenever i feel like playing a little of the old school classics, as well as being able to load and play the new in development ps1/psx emulator. so really once dark alex finishes his little project right now, THATS IT devhook emulation for 1.5 will take the scene for a very obsurdly long time.

they say you can, but its not a very cut and dry option, people have suggested waiting for someone to clean up the dg process on ta-082 boards before actually trying anything.

i want to downgrade mine but have tried and i think im doing something wrong. im not PSP savvy so i think i can use a more detailed explaination on how to do the downgrade on my psp.

refere back to post #16. there are a few 2.5 dg’s available for use but none of which are exclusivly designed for ta-082 boards, so its up to you.

#23 here is not the place to ask for help, try looking in the psp-hacks forums they have alot of tut’s available for all versions of fw’s, unless you have a ta-082 as well dg’ing is pretty much fool proof at this point unless you have a fake dg’er

Hey! I tried this one out.. Extrakted the files to the MCroot and downloaded the 1.5 EBOOT and renamed it to UPDATED.PBP and put it in the psp/games/update folder..

All it does is to mount it and then a black screen appears and it reboots itselfe..

When i look in the system info it still says 2.71!..

Is this right?

the main purpose of this downgrader is to allow non ta-082 2.71 users to downgrade to 1.5 easily without hassle and problems. the extra ta-082 2.71 to 2.5 is just a proof of concept.

I installed the HomeBrew Enabler for 2.71 successfully. When I run DevHook Launcher Port to v.2.71 (with support of flash), it can be run to show the setting screen for the first time only. When I have chosen the ISO game and then click START. PSP says “Cannot start the game”. And I can never go back to the DevHook setting screen…….

How can I run ISO games?? Do I need to run the HENC folder in PHOTO everytime I switch on PSP after switched off? But then even I run HENC, it clashes and automatically switched off my PSP. What’s the problem for it? THanks!!~

the motherboard has a built in restriction for running fw less than 2.5 so if you try and downgrade below 2.5 you will surely brick. It’s might be good to downgrade to 2.5 and then try to see if Ookm will give you the image dump required for downgrading 2.5 to 1.5.

@jgkilla: emulation is always emulation.. there are always restrictions on emulated firmwares or at least they crashes or don’t work sometimes.. having a 1.5 is nonetheless best for everyone as of now. until 2.71 can fully ultilise every single homebrew like 1.5, 1.5 is still the golden firmware and 2.71 is standing right beside it. as for 2.80 users, i guess it’s just your waiting period. i’m sure once Dark_AleX completes his work, he’ll try to work on 2.80 and see if he can make a downgrader for 2.8 to 2.71 or even more. ^_^

@ #28: are you sure you’re doing the right thing? i think you better get my pack. i made a pack which bundles in HEN C for personal use, but i don’t mind to share with everyone who has troubles using this downgrader. also, for people who are still confused, ta-082 cannot downgrade below 2.5, but it can go up and down between 2.5-2.71..

@taekwondokid: are you using a TA-082 PSP? open up your UMD and check if you have any IC1003 printed on it. if it doesn’t you can use this downgrader, and if it does, meaning you can only downgrade up to 2.50 which is just a proof of concept right now (dont downgrade anyway if your’s a TA-082 lol).. and HEN_B is already outdated. go get my pack at the HEN_C post. ^^

This might be splitting hairs but I don’t think this downgrade to 2.5 will be very useful for TA-82′ers, even if Ookm was still offering to help people because I believe his downgrade required the unit to be a factory 2.5 in the first place. From what I’ve seen the majority of TA-82’s are factory 2.6 and up.

Still, it’s very encouraging news and with the huge disappointment earlier this week from Ookm (though I don’t blame him for bailing under the circumstances) this softens the blow a lot.

In short, a lot of thanks to DA for his hard work.

@harry: a ta-082 = a motherboard’s model.. it’s not necessarily a ta-082, can be 083 084.. but every single psp that has ta-082 and above will have an IC1003 printed on the PSP which can be checked behind your UMD drive. pic below, and pls dont ask stupid questions like “can sum1 tell me when a 2.8dg will come” and stuff.. it won’t come that quickly.. so stop asking and wait patiently.. gosh..

A good method of checking this would be turning your PSP upside down, open up the UMD drive, and look at the sides under proper lighting. ^_^

@Rob.ocelot: yep, you’re right, most PSPs are 2.6 factory because only jap. sets have 2.50 factories.. so yeah..

@taekwondokid: yep, check again properly, if it doesn’t have anything on either sides, follow the instructions in my pack, and run the patch with HEN_C, then when it reboots (open up the UMD drive when it reboots so that it wont auto-boot the UMD inside), and use the downgrader. it’s recommended that you have 50%-full batt power and plug the ac adapter in. ^_^ good luck!

@ade2626: was your PSP a TA-082? Because if it is, it means this downgrader supports ta-082.. because IC1003 = TA-082 and above.. which the dg only supports up to downgrading 2.5.. There’s nothing called “IC6001″.. only IC1003. refer to pic below:

if you have Fw 2.7 ONLY, upgrade to 2.71 to make things work correctly dude. Don’t stick with 2.70.

but make sure FIRST u change your setting to default and make sure that you format your memory stick…
and by the way i wouldnt recomend to use this downgrade unless you have a v2.71 FW!!!

uhm dude i bought my psp from ebay and since its PSP1001 type it must be the old ones(the first ones that came out) and uhm yeah i said this is only for v2.71 FW!!! cuz some idiots thinks that this works in v2.81… i heard from many ppl… so when i got my psp from ebay it came with v2.71(the guy most of upgraded from 1.0>…..> v2.71!

@taekwondokid: when you use “i wouldn’t recommend” it means that it’s possible but its not RECOMMENDED.. gosh. and.. the PSP-1001, 1002 all those are not new or old PSP, they are just region model num.. like 1000 for jap, 1001 for us 1003 for euro 1006 for singapore/hong kong.. all those.. not old or new.. there are PSP-1000K PSP which are TA-082. Although I did say I’m not that good in hardware, but I work in a PSP shop, and I definitely know all those are common-sense stuff.

Dark_AleX made the devhook for 2.71 to auto load your 2.71’s data from your flash so you don’t have to get a dumped 2.71.. but you just thinks it will brick because it uses the flash.. accessing and writing to flash are different. when you turn on your PSP, ur xmb is already accessing the flash, not writing, writing only occurs when you downgrade, use x-flash or some other homebrew that writes to flash like font hack and stuff.. which are also quite safe. even updating, it writes to flash and if you pull out the batt halfway, you brick your PSP. I’ve repeatedly reassured you that you won’t brick your PSP using the 2.71 devhook to load ISO, but your retarded mind just won’t listen. SHOO ASS.

@ToMeR: you’ve got my pack and my readme teaches everything. the only thing you have to do is to place ISO/CSO in the ISO folder, then run the patch, run devhook for 2.71, go to UMD SELECT and choose your desired CSO/ISO game, a list will appear, then after that, make sure you have an UMD inside the UMD drive, then start.. dumbass.

@taco: you cannot have IC1003 and IC6001 unless you have two PSPs.. lol.. if it’s IC1003, you have a TA-082, if you have IC6001, it’s not a TA-082 and you can use this downgrader. As for the HEN_C and devhook for 2.71, they work on all 2.71 regardless of the motherboard.. get my pack and follow the instructions then. When you see the red screen, it most probably didn’t managed to flash the necessary files to your PSP flash, I recommend you to format your memstick and install my pack all over again, then read the instructions carefully. It should work. ^_^

@JR: you’re welcomed. yeah, the downgrader needs you to have at least 50-75% of battery, but a full batt is recommended. forgot to include that in my readme, heh.

@taco: i’ve never seen anything like this before.. having two codes together.. i’m not sure whether if your’s a ta-082 or not. sorry that I can’t help you out at all. =( I wouldn’t recommend you to risk it though, cause I’m not sure whether if it’s a ta-082 or what.. so if you’re willing to risk it, go ahead. =X

I Manage to brick my PSP with this tool after one succesfull downgrade my brother accedently upgraded to 2.71 so i was about to downgrade it and it got bricked..

Lucky me i know a guy at a modchipstore here in sweden and he has the equipment to unbrick psps for FREE!!

I can’t see why people are trying to hang on to 1.5. It must be a pride thing. “I have a 1.5 you poor 2.xx loser.”
2.71 can do everything I need now so I upgraded with no intentions of downgrading again. I can load ISOs, dump UMDs with Fastloader while emulating 1.5. Play nes, snes, gba, sms, genesis ect. Play UMDs that require 2.XX, and I’m still getting all the benefits of 2.71. Sorry 1.5 worshippers, your god has been bitchslapped and sent to firmware hell.

and a 1.50. I can do everthing (just about) with my 2.71 as my 1.50 and my 2.71 charg last’s longer ;D

Sorry to tell you this but “it” most likely did not brick your PSP. It was probably you. Buy another one or buy a mod chip. Next time follow the instructions EXACTLY. Sorry to be brutal but thats just the way it is. Are you sure it wasn’t a ta-082? If you want I’ll buy your bricked PSP for $20.

you need to get devhook 046 from somewhere with v1.5 and v2.60 dumps…. and make a folder called “iso” at your root of the psp and put all the iso and cso games there….

Hi. I have the hen c on my 2.71 PSP, it installed properly and everything. I can run the demo homebrew it comes with. I’m trying to downgrade now to 2.60. I have the flasher in the right spot and I see “PSP Update ver X.YZ” in the games list on my memory card. When I run it, I get the usual PSP splash screen, the screen goes black, and after a few moments the PSP reboot’s itself with 2.71 still on it. What gives? it’s a TA-082 if that makes any difference.

I’ve even tried reseting to defaults, formatting the memory stick, and using Zephyrus’s pack. The only thing I had to do was to replace the UPDATE.PBP with the one for 2.60 since it comes with 1.50 firmware and my TA-082 can’t run that.

well if u have v2.71 i would say “go with v2.71 homebrew” since u have a TA-082(but i am not sure if v2.71 homebrew runs on TA-082! )
other than that its all up to you…
either stay with v2.71 or go with v2.60

just drop the file from the DAX_plugin (found on this site) in the kdfolder.. and select YES when it asks to overwrite.. The rest is magic!

#133: That might be because the app cant find UPDATE.PBP. It needs to be all caps, and in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE. That tricked me at first.

And at the earlier comments about having both IC6001 AND IC1003, I’ll verify that; it has that on mine too.
