CWCheat v0.1.6 for SE-B’

Posted by greg

weltall has released CWCheat v0.1.6 for Dark_AleX’s 2.71 SE-B’ firmware. All features from the earlier release of 0.1.6 remain fully intact — you can even adjust the CPU clock speed [in game] when desired, without re-flashing! The only real difference is the module is not loaded via DevHook, and with that said it also prevents the game from crashing upon exit.

Manual install:

  1. make a reflash folder in the root of your memory stick and copy the included pspbtcnf_game.txt (if necessary change it accordingly)
  2. copy cwcheat.prx in a easy to access ms directory
  3. startup an app to write to flash (eg: pspfiler)
  4. copy cwcheat.prx in the kn folder in flash0:/
  5. reboot your psp in recovery mode
  6. select Advanced ->
  7. select flash pspbycnf_game.txt(2.71) (BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHILE SELECTING THIS)
  8. select Back
  9. select exit
  10. enjoy

Or, an even easier [automatic] method thanks to Cpasjuste:

  1. load the included installer from the 1.50 GAME FOLDER
  2. press O
  3. enjoy

CWCheat will be loaded every time you load an ISO or UMD, either in UMD and NOUMD mode.

PSP Push-Activated Shoulder Button Lighting Mod

Posted by greg

Everett has emailed PSP hacks with a remarkable PSP mod; not even MacGyver could pull this off –

Sony decided to make the PSP shoulder buttons transparent, leaving modders an excellent opportunity to make the device look way cooler with lighting. Llamma has done a write up on adding lights to the buttons. I wanted a similar effect, but not for the lights to be on all the time—I wanted the buttons to light when they are pushed. This is how I did it.

Two random screenshots (click to enlarge):

ScummVM 0.9.1 Bugfix Release

Posted by greg

The ScummVM development team has announced the release of ScummVM v0.9.1!

What’s new in the 0.9.1 bugfix release?

  • Fixed potential garbage and/or crash in debug console.
  • Removed restriction on 27 games per game id when added via launcher.
  • Fixed crashes during scrolling scenes in certain SCUMM games.
  • Added saving of thumbnail in SCUMM savegames.
  • Improved support for international versions of HE games.
  • Other various improvements/fixes
PSP ScummVM Screenshot

Couldn’t say it better myself…

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the game, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!

ScummVM lets you run these adventures: Adventure Soft’s Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution’s Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep’s Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision’s Gobliiins; Westwood Studios’ The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts’ SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system. SCUMM is used for many games, including Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more.

Download: ScummVM 0.9.1 (PSP)

For more details and other resources: binaries compiled for other platforms [Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, etc…], game downloads, extras, and more… check out the scummvm.org website.

SE-B Overclocking Module 02 Released

Posted by greg

Earlier yesterday Cpasjuste released an overclocking module for 2.71 SE-B users; however, you were unable to select your desired clock speed. Instead you’d be forced to 333MHz and no working WiFi. This obviously left some hesitant to overclock their PSP if sacrificing their online gaming experience was in question. Also — in order to initially remove the module you had to remove SE-B entirely through the recovery console. Well… Today Cpasjuste has released the Overclocking Module 02 which improves on these two silly problems — you’re now given the ability to select the clock speed and you can safely remove only the module. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 333 Mhz (fast but no WIFI in games)
  • 300 Mhz (fast with WIFI WORKING in games)
  • 111 Mhz (Slow but save battery)

Another thing to note is that while remaining in the XMB the PSP will clock at 222MHz. Only will overclocking take affect when playing any PSP game.

To install: copy the contents of this zip archive to your memory stick. Ensure the “oc” directory ends up in the “ms0:/PSP/GAME150″ directory. Launch from the Game menu and you should be set.

Again, as with any firmware modification tool, use at your own risk!

Download: SE-B Overclocking Module 02

Nice work Cpasjuste.

CheatDevice v1.0d PRX for GTA:Liberty City Stories

Posted by greg

Edison Carter has re-released CheatDevice v1.0d for Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories in the form of a PRX module for use with DevHook. The good news: it works with the original US & UK/Euro versions, and is also reported to function with the new patched US version; however, the bad news: it does not work with the patched UK disc.

Adding an additional module to DevHook is quite easy, follow these instructions:

To install:

copy cheatdevice.prx X:\dh\kd

(replace X: with the drive letter of your PSP)

edit each of these files:

  X:\dh\271\flash0\kd\pspbtcnf.txt
  X:\dh\271\flash0\kd\pspbtcnf_game.txt

(replace 271 with any other emulated firmware versions you want to use, such as 260, 250, 200)

and add the line

  ms0:/dh/kd/cheatdevice.prx

after the line

  ms0:/dh/kd/devhook.prx

Edison Carter also noted some features have yet to be implemented in this PRX version.

CW Cheat v0.1.6 Released

Posted by greg

For all those cheaters out there, whether it be on your significant other or your favourite video game, weltall is back with a brand spankin’ new version of CW Cheat. Without doubt weltall has devoted a lot of time to this release and it certainly shows:

  • No more screen flickering and real time update of data in the main menu
  • fixed that graphic glitch appearing when putting out and in the ms
  • cleaned up the menus of useless clear screen and print calls
  • added support for 8bit and 16bit multi address write. it’s the same as 32bit multi write but with a 0×8 in the place of 0×4 and a 0×1 for 16bit and 0×0 for 8bit in front of the value entry (d)
  • string optimizations
  • support to select search intervals in the fixed value and diff search
  • now swap buttons option is saved and loaded
  • fixed a string were X was still showed even if the buttons were swapped
  • fixed a bug which could lock up remaPSP if you tried loading macros (thanks to BAC for reporting this)
  • now the screen is cleared before exiting the menu (useful when cheating some tiff apps like tetris which kept cwcheat menu in background and was a bit annoying, plus it can help avoiding games which shows cwcheat menu till they refresh the screen)
  • added greater/less by than before in the diff search with R you can navigate the entry for the value
  • now the db is loaded in the volatile partition (thanks to tyranid for unlocking it) so it can be up to 4mb (in theory)
  • added screen shot support: this is a custom implementation based on nekokabu sources which locks the game only for much less than a second. It proved to work fine everywhere except in the browser with the menu opened. plus you can customize the button for it (also this uses the volatile ram area)
  • now when using the clear background function the screen is cleared also in those games which didn’t permit to do it (eg: burnout)
  • fixed a bug which could prevent you to go left while entering hex values in the fixed value search and cheat modify menu
  • optimized a bit the code of the value insert dialogs
  • the screenshoot button can be changed and saved to config file (NOTE: if you don’t set any button it’s disabled)
  • cheat modification dialog has been redesigned (thanks to Haruyuki for the idea on how to change it), now all the code lines are showed contemporaneously and with their address, value in hex and value in decimal R changes COLUMNS (address, hex value, dec value) L changes ROWS (code lines), X saves the modifications, O aborts them and DPAD just like before moves in the number and changes it
  • fixed a buffer overflow which made remapsp auto enabling if the game name in the db was bigger than 30 chars
  • now the game name can be up to 36 chars
  • reworked the text reader: it can open files up to 1mb and scrool them up and down. it still requires some functions and the up botton requires some checks, but it works fine
  • fixes here and there and optimizations

And that pretty much sums it up.

“CW Cheat” operates much like Action Replay or Game Shark; it enables cheating through raw-relative hex codes under DevHook firmware emulation. An existing database of cheats is constantly updated and readily available for download whenever you please. You can fetch the latest cheat db here.

Commence cheating!

2.71 SE-B’ Custom Firmware Released

Posted by greg

The man with the master plan, a.k.a. Dark_AleX, has made a few slight adjustments to the highly favoured 2.71 Special Edition Revision B firmware. Those interested can fetch a copy below. What’s new? Quoted from the Readme:

Changes:

  • Fixed the problem of crashing if the iso folder didn’t exist
  • Added experimental no umd mode. By default it is disabled.

New configurations:

  • Use NO-UMD. It will enable the NO-UMD mode, whose compatibility is currently unknown, and probably less compatible than UMD mode. This is the main reason to release this quick update, to know more or less the compatibility of this no-umd mode.
  • Use isofs driver also in UMD-inserted mode (in advanced). You probably don’t have to touch this, it’s mainly done for myself. If you do it, you may decrease the compatibility of UMD mode.

Note that if you want to change from NO-UMD mode to UMD mode, you have to do it in recovery. Because even if you have an umd inserted, but you have the NO-UMD in settings, the CF will use the method of umd emulation of NO-UMD, which differs a lot from the UMD one and may have a very different compatibility.

To update: run the new update from the GAME150 folder, in 2.71 SE-A or 2.71 SE-B.

Download: 2.71 SE Revision B’

- More 2.71 SE-B Information -

Thanks for the heads up Zephyrus.
