some good work and although it may not be stable, its one hella of a proof of concept. I cud see a few work arounds the L2 and R2 buttons, my idea wud be use the D pad left and right buttons. Since the PS1 didnt originally have 2 analog sticks, there wudnt be a problem with movement as the analog stick on the PSP wud be used as the PS1 D pad or use the analog stick for L2 or R2, whichever prefered. as for disk swapping, i think there may have to be USB/WIFI implementation to support all the large ISO files, or just run it through iRshell! anyways damn fine work.

It’s a good start but not really playable right now. The only ISOS i have on my drive that work (well load up) are street fighter ex2 and Raiden (shooting game). Castlevania doesn’t work right now. This emulator shows a lot of promise. I just hope we can start a thread of working games when the emulator has other releases.

Just rip them with ISOBUSTER to get the bin files.

anyway on a PSP you just drag the psp folder to the root folder in your psp. then drag your PS1 images into the folder named “ROMS”

I normally dont download early emulators but I tried this one w/ a GTA2 and Tekken 3 and they worked better then I thought. I actually was winnin in tekken 3 and its nearly as fast as daedalus already.

Congratulations to all that made this emu possible, all the coders, designers, and guys helping them, With what short time the psp has been out it has taken a lot of the old systems that we used to play and put them on the most powerful hand held device. As my opinon I think that this is amazing work and they will make it like it should be, but with all of US (the gamers) we are doing them a favor by giving feedback so they can spend more time fixing the problems one at a time, Thank You all who took part in this and all of the psp Homebrew gaming.

You know, reading what #108 said, it makes me think about the PSP in general. It is just a powerhouse for anything. I mean stepping away from the media features, you can look for wi-fi spots, go online right there. Using homebrew you can watch TV on your PSP via wi-fi. You can use it to emulate other handhelds, and even consoles. Pretty much every console that is out, it is emulated, all on one single device. I mean if that Strmmnnmmnmnmn guy can get his N64 emulator working, and a PSX emulator comes out or something, it’s just amazing to realize what it is actually capable of. (Large thanks to homebrew.)

I remember that one kid got Windows 95 running on his PSP, and Mac. Everyone shot that down too, saying, “How pathetic, PSP owners use their PSP to emulate other systems because the PSP sucks.” I couldn’t help but think, man… think about how stupid that is. Don’t get me wrong, I like a lot of PSP games too and they keep me busy, there is just other times when I’d rather play a good ol’ fashion Ninja Gaiden NES, or Sega, ect. ect. So no, it’s not that we run other systems on the PSP because we think the PSP sucks, we run it BECAUSE we know we can, and it just adds onto the possibilities, new additions, new features, other games, more time spent using it, better travel device, the list goes on. And not to start DS bashing, I don’t like it, but if what I just listed up there is not a reason to get a PSP over a DS for first choosing, then I just don’t know what is. We have a media powerhouse capable of pretty much everything, and I’d much rather have smooth 60FPS, outstanding 3D graphics with a bright colored LCD screen over any other handheld.

So to this PSX-Emu Work In Progress, keep it going, make it live up to an actual PSX emulator. It will surely be worth it if it does.

And if not, fuck it we’ll wait for Sony to make us one. XD

i tried gt2 and it works, slow but this is only alpha.
mine is in bin format the text is a lil fuzzy, no sound and the aspect ratio is widescreen so the cars look stretched. but hey its better than nothing, its a start and hopefully someone will continue to improve it. ps1 games are mad cheap and who knows how much sony is gonna charge to download games for their emulator. lots of people have got ps1 games laying around colecting dust. oh yeah i used isobuster to extract my games as raw bin i tried blastermaster and twisted metal but they didn’t work. i dl gt2 from torrent and it worked so maybe i did something wrong with isobuster.

oh yeah gt2 sim disc.bin is 659mb

For a beta this is pretty good so hopefully after a few updates he/she/them will have some of the graphical bugs fixed and a half decent speed.

@ 130, i very much doubt it would be possible, the PSP’s hardware is no where near as good as the PS2, it would be nice but I dont see it happening, but I do wonder about a dreamcast emulator? Though the dreamcast was way ahead of its time when it was released, im not to sure of the specs, though i do know it was based on Windows CE. Any one know the exact dreamcast specs?

If the emu development continues normally and in some months it gonna be full speed and reliable, I won’t need anything else to ask from the homebrew scene.

Why do people still refer to it as the PSX? That name was dropped in 1994, and later used for a PS2/HDD recorder combo. The PlayStation short be shortened PS, or alternatively PSOne. It was never called PSX.

Where the hell are we supposed to get roms that actually work?

For anyone looking for the iso’s, just dust off some of your old psone games and rip the iso to your computer with isobuster. I’ve only tried 2 games and neither work, so if u try a game and it works even so slightly, make a list and post it on here so we dont keep trying the same games to see if they start. So far i’ve tried:
Castlevania SOTN – it booted then shut off the psp
LoK: Blood Omen – Didn’t even make out of the program menu before it froze.

Oh yah, ISObuster rips the image as a Bin/Cue file, but thats fine because this program is supposed to be able to play Iso AND Bin images.

CRASH BANDICOOT WORKS!!! (extremely slowly)

when they get the emu up to full speed and i can play Crash/Spyro…that will be when the PSP truly becomes “PRO”…imagine Crash Bash on PSP…dam and a half…

What the hell is happening?????
I have a vr 2.60 psp & i have the eloader 098.
I go in the e loader menu and i see this file:
[__SCE__PSXP] when i press x i see my iso game in this case i tried crash bandicoot 3 warped & frogger 2 but neither of them worked because when i press X to load the game, the menu of the eloader shows up again.????
Is this the cause of the eloader or i did something wrong?

I just trued Intelligent Qube and it starts up with the Sony Entertainment in white letters then goes to a black screen and the PSP down.

resident evil 3 boots. shows that it has gore and then crashed.
tony hawk 1- crashes(no sign of anything)

I got fft to work once, probably because I kept jamming on the start button to bypass the opening str video. I started a new game (with kinda screwed graphics) entered name, b-day, then started. Once it went to the introduction video, it crashed.

There might be a trick in all of that.

absolutely great!! street fighter ex plus alpha works but has the crapest frame rate ever!.. takes abt 5 real time minutes to do 10-20 secs in game. everythin is slow-mo…but improvement on frame rate and i think this thing is ready to go…well done lookin for you to release a new version pretty soon please!

everyone one here… does realize that there will be psone games available for download as a psp feature right? it wont be long before backups of those can be made and ran in devhook… needless to say this program is not worth developing.

Just heard on dcemu that they is another psone emu comming out soon that runs 90% all games!ff 7&8 is running on this emulator in beta!so i think i will wait for the release of that or the next release of this.but its a wonderful time to own a psp!keep up the good work!

right clik the highest disk folder, and do Raw data…then when saving it….add “.bin” to the end of the file name….

actually, it is a PS2, it was a media centre version of the PS2 and its interface resembles the PSP XMB. It Also has a built in HDD and dvd recorder. unlucky for us, it was only released in japan in 2003. So before you jump the gun and start insulting everyones intelligence, do some homework.
