great now that they have homebrew for the 2.8, i hope a downgrader comes out soon, good work on the font hacker, but most homebrew on my 2.8 freezes so that is gay. but all of it works so thAT IS GOOD!

watch out you people dont brick your psp.. good program but not for the noobs with 2.8’s. its best to change your font only with custom firmware w/ recovery mode..

TO #18…. this can in no way harm your psp. it does not write to flash. all it will do is restore your default settings OH NO…. lol

It took me 3 hours to get it to work on my 2.8 psp, and it works so perfect nwo that all I do is change the default font to what I want and crash the psp. it owkred fine now 20 times outa 20. had to test all the fonts lol

Hey guys i guess since you’ve all been asking ill write a step by step guide, well first off do everything this guide says , when u get to the hex editing part download a hex editing program like this one http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm#download
Then u open system.dreg and look in that right section for the line that says flash0:/font ad change it to ms0:/fontmod and then save it, put it back in the psp’s root directory then use the fonthacker program to install w/e font u want then u run the font program on ur psp press O and wait till it says its installed and there u go

sorry before u return system.dreg and system.ireg to the psp root duble click the fixedupred.exe file to patch it

if u remove some of the font files and u run the font hack and when ur psp restarts it should say its corrupted u press O and it should restore everything..too bad u lose ur wallpaper -_-

lol^to the above…i can only find one instance of flash0:/font and i changed it in a hex editor. saved. and uploaded the new registry after patching it. when it says seccessful i press home to exit and it restarts and restors defaults. what could be the problem. hook me up.

Where exactly do I put the font? it says “you’ll need to put ur font in the fontmod thing on your memorystick….” but its not on the meory stick where does it go?

For some reason, when I do it, I catch a glimpse of the new font before it comes with the blue screen. When I repair, it goes back to the default font.

heres my attempt at instructions:
for those who get the error message, did you install the custom font into (drivename):/fontmod ?

ok, get a hex editor, get the .tiff exploit, get a font(can be changed later XD) and maybe custom background and i think there was another tool you need, get that too XD (itll be on homepage)

install and start the .tiff exploit first thing, then press X and wait for the memory stick light to stop flashing, it takes just under a miute, but id imagine it varies, then quit. turn on your PSP and connect to USB, then in the folder on your computer, use the Hex editor to open the file: system.dreg and use the find next tool in the hex editor to find the appropriate series of letters (just type flash in find box) replace that with what it wants (im too lazy to look) save it and your’ ready. put the system .dreg and the system.ireg file in the other tools folder i didnt know the name of and run the program called: fixupdreg3.exe then get the system.ireg and system.dreg files and place them back in the root folder of PSP, copy and paste the .pgf font files into the fontmod folder, start your PSP, relaunch the .tiff exploit and press O (circle), let it do its job and then restart your PSP and it should work.
to test new font after new font, insteading of turning the PSP off then on, just start a demo .eboot or launch the UMD and press home to quit, then XMB should have the latest installed font. also, for some fun you can have different fonts on your different Memory sticks, however it will only change after launching and quitting a game or demo (or rebooting)
thats the best i can do (not really, but im sleepy and lazy)

im really not like a psps guru or anything but im guessing it depends on firmware and/or model, mine is a 2.71 fw ta-082 motherboard and psp1001

Ok I am having problems with this I have tried and tried again to get this working. I have used at least a dozen different tutorials and packs that already include the custom files but whenever I load the fonthack and press circle I end up getting the BSOD (psp wise = screen that asks for you to press O because a file is corrupted) and the fonts won’t load. Every once in a while I also get it to where everything seems to go fine and when i do the fonthack thing and press circle the PSP will reboot no BSOD but no fonts either. I truely want different font for my psp but this is driving me crazy if anyone can come up with a possible explination for why this is happining and a solution to said problem please e-mail me at DeathRex369@gmail.com

Ok This thing like screwed up my psp.. After i installed it and everything and after it rebooted.. passed the blue screen and everything.. but when u try turn the psp on it waits for 5 secs then turns itself off.. i cant get on the main psp screen… it keeps doing it.. , so is there a way to get rid of that?

i got it to work on my psp after 4 hours here is how u do it

FOR THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO WORK THEY MUST BE FOLOWED 100% AND IN ORDER ( DO NOT SKIP A STEP FOR ANY REASON OR THIS PROBABLY WONT WORK)

1. remove all files from your attempts to make it work and redownload the files (this process only worked on my psp after i removed the files a started fresh)

2. put the font hack files on your psp in the photo folder( unzip them ectera )

3. download the system files from the link on # 58

4.unzip it and put the system.dreg and system .ireg on your root menu ( the one that opens up when u conect it to computer)

5. on your computer go under the photo folder run Fhack.exe and load a font to your psp (make sure the directory selected to intal to is your psp then open the file. press add font a pick a name for it. then press intall to psp)

6. on your psp go to fonthack file (under photo) and press start, if it frezzes restart by holding the power button till screen goes dark and try again

7. once u have got it open press (o button) to load the system files to your psp

8.press home and when your psp restarts your font should be there

When ever i copy the modified registary back to my psp, it restores the default settings the next time i reboot, therefore replacing the files! Any1 know whats wrong, im on 2.8.
