PSPUAE v0.55: Amiga 500 Emulator

greg | September 12, 2006

FOL and Ric have released a new version of the PSP Ubiquitous Amiga Emulator, or PSPUAE for short.

PSPUAE successfully emulates the classic Amiga 500 home computer system. You will require a valid Amiga KickStart ROM in order to experience the marvelous wonders the Amiga 500 holds – all on your PSP! That of course can be found via simple Google search.

PSPUAE v0.55 changes:

  • Added some more Joystick mapping options. You can now use any button to control Amiga joystick 0.
  • Changed all sceCtrlReadBufferPositive to sceCtrlPeekBufferPositive. This should speed things up a little, because sceCtrlReadBufferPositive always waits for vsync.
  • Fixed a “bug” that caused the PSP to crash if you tried to exit using the home button.
  • Added Bilinear filtering when zoom is turned on.

I’m tired of hearing that, “I upgraded foolishly I need a downgrader!” Who cares? You’re the kind of person that makes me say, “No, we really don’t need a downgrader,” since you were idiotic enough to update. Converting to the 1.5 side again? That’s like switching to the winning team just because of that fact, deal with it. : )

hey, hey, thats your opinion, thats your opinion, back when i had 1.50, homebrew sucked, okay it sucked the royal “picock” and only recently has hombrew started to get good. i wanna get in on it, i wanna bask in the warming light of security free psp!!
as a factory 1.50, now 2.80 owner, i feel it is my duty, to return my divine psp system, in all its delightful divinity, to its divine natural state. hah. beat that…….gay lord!!!!!!

Okay. That’s your fault. There. : )

You thought for the rest of the time that PSP’s were out (Which I think… somewhere.. they’re still beind sold… I think walmart has a few left.) that NO good homebrew was coming our way? Kind of blunt.

@Justin.

The amiga 500 was 16 bit home computer and f**kin rocked. Not only were there loads of great games released on it but there was a good homebrew/demo scene.

Love

Kenny

Anybody tried to run Blood Money? Psygnosis intros and music were real art.

the amiga 500 and other amigas models
set the graphic showcase for computers back when the pc was nothing more than a number cruncher.
the amiga and atari st is were most of the good coders began. if it wasnt for amiga and atari my life would have turned out very different.
amiga a king and a true ground breaker for its time.
and dont start me on the genlock and video editing power of the amiga chipset.
:)
sensible soccer – cannon fodder – speedball – just the tip of the ice burg google the amiga you be surprised.

Anybody have a clue how this is running? I haven’t tried it for a few releases, and can’t download it as I’m using a public computer for the next week or so while my pc gets fixed (HARD DRIVE FAILURE). The last time I had a look it was still a little slow.

I always recommend taking a look at the “Castaway” Atari ST emulator for the PSP alongside this. It’s pretty much perfect.

Looking forward to trying this.
