PiMPStreamer v0.74 Released

greg | September 11, 2006

Incredibly sorry I missed this… PiMPStreamer v0.74; it was released only yesterday but still deserves a spot here on PSP Hacks.

PiMPStreamer - stream video (MPEG, AVI, etc…) to your PSP over any wireless connection, in realtime! The supplied Windows installer will take care of all the dirty work for you. Just connect your PSP via USB for the initial installation and follow the on-screen steps.

DickyDick1969 has continued bossing up & has incorporated a few worthwhile changes in v0.74:

  • JPEG images will be transferred as jpeg (faster!) all others as PNG
  • can handle all image sizes (rescale on server)
  • small images centered
  • large images rescaled
  • image slideshow (just the same as playlist)
  • better psp/ip detection in installer
  • bug removed with identical rss feed titles
  • rss feed date added in listing
  • some other stuff
  • correct name in irshell?

Download: PiMPStreamer v0.74

By the way, here’s an interesting guide:
Any Video Source + WinDVR + Pimp Streamer = Live Stream To PSP

#2 what would be the point of streaming over USB? you’ll be like 0.5m away from your PC….anyway this is one of my best homebrew apps, keep it up!

Yup, usb support would defeat the purpose of the app. Conviently making videos viewable on the psp without have the hassel with memory space and converting and etc. Unless you have a really long usb cable then whats the point of viewing your vids on the psp when you’re most likely to be able to view on a big tv screen.

Plus, get irshell and use the usbhost. You have to convert your vids to pmp but it’s all good.

In defense to the one requesting for usb support, I think there might be cases wherein it’s a favorable option. For example, in our office, I cannot connect my psp to the wireless network. I don’t want to watch videos using my monitor since it occupies my windows work space and I hate to use alt+tab to change windows. Having the psp setup just below my monitor acts as an convenient additional mini screen for videos. But still PiMPStreamer works perfectly for me at home! Thanks Dicky! :)

Then why don’t you just use the windows media player bar? You can view your vids in the corner next to the systray. USB would be useful in certain cituations, but this streamer was made for the wifi capabilities of the psp. For now though, you can use irshell.

Besides playing games, this is one of the reasons i even pull out my psp. Im usually by a wifi, and use my public ip to connect to my home pc to watch my vids, and music, and now my pictures. BY FAR, THE MOST USEFUL “LEGAL” PSP APP EVER MADE.

This piece of software rocks!!!

Not only it´s fast and very straight forward, but also very powerful!

Can I make a suggestion to the author? Can´t you make a directshow/tv card mode in order to stream from it directly? (without having TV -> FILE -> PIMP).

Or at least a way to VNC -> PIMP -> PSP? (perhaps pimp take VNC´s http feed, convert it on-the-fly and send it for PSP client?)

Thankx!
