Japanese Flashcard Review Update!
greg | August 15, 2006
Its been awhile since we’ve heard from Phil and his Javascript Japanese Flashcards which aid in the learning of, you guessed it – Japanese! The latest installment features more words and the ability to display multiple words which have the same meaning in the same deck. Of course all the previous features still exist from the last release, which can be read here.
Quoted from the README:
To get started, you just need to unzip the japanese.zip file, and if you’re reading this, I assume you’ve made it that far already. Then just place all the files onto your memory stick. Personally, I put the entire “japanese” folder at the root level of the memory stick. Then you fire up the PSP web browser and
enter the URL “file:/japanese/index.html” (unless you put it somewhere else).A few problems to take note of:
- If the vocab reviewer doesn’t fit on one page, you might need to set your text size to Normal and/or your display mode to Normal.
- If you’re loading the vocab page with all the words so far, it takes a little while to get started because it needs to first shuffle the deck (which takes a while with that many cards)
The attached zip file contains a few html documents (JavaScript) and 1×1 pixel images.

Happy learning!

awesome tool. I keep it on all my ms’s
dozo yorosiku hehe :D
This is very cool. One problem though, i’m finding it hard to select an answer. Its hard to get the litle hand to come up, i have to keep clicking and moving the pointer everywhere.
damn it i was 2nd and they took it off! anyways i STILL think this is KINDA STUPID
who the fuck would want this?
oh i know! is it people that have a psp a what to learn japanese?
Would someone explain slooowly what this is? Allows you to learn japanese on the PSP? Don’t we have other problems, like slow emulators? Crashing “.iso”-loaders? Buggy shells? Fw 2.8 and soon 3.0!? Why aren’t people producing things we NEED instead of this junk? Anyway i am graetfull every time anything is made at all so good work i guess. :S
its prob just sum extra lil bullshit homebrew 4 the sake of it cos dey can lol
#2 thats doozo yoroshiku i belive :P
and japanese rock0rz. its a helluva lot better than our sucky language
Please help!!! I did everything it said and tried to use it on the browser then it said content cannot be displayed, so I figured I installed the japanese folder wrong, I went and saw it was in the root directory so I tried deleting it to re put it in but it won’t let me delete it, it tells me that the directory is corrupt. I can’t get rid of it or overwrite it now. Please help!!!
Nevermind I fixed it! I just right clicked it and clicked add to archive then WinRAR came up so I clicked delete files after archiving, it had an error getting the files for the archiving but was able to delete the folder and files so I simply deleted the archive.
Japanese is hard to learn if you barely have a grasp of how the language is spoken. No, just because you watch animes doesn’t mean you have a grasp. Forget about reading kanji…..
I don’t understand how this helps if the whole thing is a quiz… Do you just fail and fail until you get it right then you have to remember it?
LOL this is great
plz where is the good stuff like 2.8 emulation, emulators running at close to 100% with sound, homebrew for version 2.0,2.5,2.6,2.7,2.71,&2.8. this is just crap. it should never have been posted.
Yeah, sorry D3lud3, it was designed for use with the d-pad .. not the analog stick
This is a nice program
You know you guys who bash this stuff because its not what YOU want are complete dumb@$$es. Its not all about you, if you want better emu’s, then go make one yourself. I for one am grateful for this piece of work because I have always wanted to learn japanese, and the books are quite expensive. If you dont care for it then fine, go hide in your room and dont care for it, but you dont have to go bashing hard work that people put into it because its not what YOU want, n00b.
Varekai u rulz !! yea guy those great developers are not under ur command they r not ur slaves , just thank them on what they do wether it was good or not , cauz any damn simple apps 4 the psp costs very hard work . any way thank you Phil for this great stuff and keep up the good work .
Hey, I’ve no interest in learning Japanese just yet, but it’s great to see stuff like this in the homebrew scene – the more diversity the better!
^Doody
I might try this, actually probaly not,I’m to lazy to learn a language, and thanks mods for taking the first few messages off.
This is perfect. I take Japanese at school and this is very good prep. (Also great b/c i’ve got the unfortunate 2.80.)
7 and 15 really need to learn how to shut their pie holes. Obviously you’ve got a linguist out there that went ahead and ported a flashcard website to PSP dimensions for his own use, and decided to share. I can almost GUARANTEE you that had he not done this, R&D on emulators and firmwares would be NO FURTHER ALONG. The guy contributed the only thing he was able to for the scene, which is still a billion times more than what you whiners have done for the rest of us.
lol some wierd comments on this one…
anyway the thing works purty good i use it on devhook browser hehe
