hi i need some help with devkook

okay i can’t flash the thing- when i do what it says on Chaos Zero’s tutorial my psp says it is flashing the stuff, but when i start to run 2.71fw i don’t think it has even flashed because everthing is going slower and according to what people have said it should be going faster. (E.X- i go to the internet browser to start it up and it takes 7-15 seconds seconds to start also i see the memory stick light blinking) if it has been saved to the XMB it shouldn’t be reading the ms, right?

hackers vs sony: this is the type of conflict that is needed in all natural sytems to drive evolution. sony tries to get clever by shutting out homebrew with firmware updates and as a consequence the devs get a bit cleverer by hacking these new restrictions. This will go on and on for a long while yet and i feel sony will eventually loose. But this is no big deal yet.

I love what the epsilong bios does, and I really want to see it happen with DevHook, BOOSTER, please don´t work for them, cause if you do, your knowledge will imply sony to make you help them make Firmware 3.0 will all sorts of security hacks, that will make not impossible, but very hard to hack in later time.

Sony’s not going to be able to stop Devhook. The ony statement Sony has really made regarding Devhook, or hacking in general, is that they discourage it, and it voids your warrenty. They can change the rules as much as they want, but they can’t legally touch Booster. They can sue him of cource, but they aren’t really going to get anywhere. This is just Sony’s first step. Next, they’ll try to get rid of emulation. The sad part is that they can’t. Legally, you can now emulate any discontinued systems, such as the snes, PS1, ect. The only way they can legally touch you, is if the game is ESRB protected. (By the way, I have a rom of the Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past if anyone wants it ^^) SOny needs to just embrace the hacking, and emulation of older games. If they do, they could, and probably would, make a lot more money….

Thats what I do with DevHook now? Never used the boot back part because I don’t like remembering serveral buttons and switches to make it work. But it sounds like to me that removing the part that alows to boot back to 1.50 without resetting the PSP is all that Booster or any other programmer would have to remove

Thank you for your interesting post ‘Mark’, yes i agree that it was only a matter of time that sony willl seek legal right and the stuff about u have to go through my sony1.5 is total bullshit.

However, as a games designer and enthusiast i will tell you one thing, the psp had the greatest potential of all the consoles, I infact preordered mine straight from Japan, at the time I also owned a DS, and I can honestly tell you that Sony does not care about producing games that are innovative and have great play feel, it only cares about £££$$$$, upon evaluating eahc console and the games that are available the DS is far better than the psp , you just have to think of Mariokart, Kirby’s magic canvas, Nintendogs, Metroid Prime hunters, New super Mario bros and the upcoming Zelda title to know that it is a better games system, wat it lacks is the video and audio capabilities of the psp. The only game on the psp that can have any credit; because i have spent so long on it is Lumines. But thats it….Sony for me is not worth the money and if i could reverse back time I would have never bought one.

this is to the ds lover, none of the games you listed are original they are all based off of other games. there arent many “innovative” games around because they gaming industry just like the music and film industries (owned by many of the same groups) do not care to see the goods of new and uniquie points of view because they don’t perform well with testing groups. I’m not basing the DS just mearly stateing there are no orignal games (very few to be more correct) I for one hope that more games such as HOT PXL or whatever its being called now come out sooner rather then later. Also its very true there is nothing that will produce a truely hack proof system or game, aslong as its out there, someone will find a way to do what they want to with it.

okay i can’t flash the thing- when i do what it says on Chaos Zero’s tutorial my psp says it is flashing the stuff, but when i start to run 2.71fw i don’t think it has even flashed because everthing is going slower and according to what people have said it should be going faster. (E.X- i go to the internet browser to start it up and it takes 7-15 seconds seconds to start also i see the memory stick light blinking) if it has been saved to the XMB it shouldn’t be reading the ms, right?

1.) booster will not go to jail .. worst chase is he pays 1000-5000$ but jail is just ridiculous wherever you live

2.) devhook is not all about iso .. it allows you do boot other firmware releases and those firmware releases are free to download on several psp websites

3.) yes sony made the psp and i love them for that but sony now took DH down and brought us uberfirmware with crappy flash but no homebrew so i hate them for that :)

4.) 50bucks for a game ? ah go sodomize yourself .. i wont buy any game for that price .. go down to 20 and i stop using DH and cso´s …

i agree with crimson, if sony can lower the game price about 10 to 20 i’ll stop using devhook and iso’s, but if they can’t do it, so fuck it…. i’ll still use the devhook and iso’s for my psp

This is to ‘plz stop cusin’ and ‘hmmm’, if you have eyes then u wud have reda my original post as to why im on this website u bunch of planks!

However, as a games designer and enthusiast i will tell you one thing, the psp had the greatest potential of all the consoles, I infact preordered mine straight from Japan, at the time I also owned a DS, and I can honestly tell you that Sony does not care about producing games that are innovative and have great play feel, it only cares about £££$$$$, upon evaluating eahc console and the games that are available the DS is far better than the psp , you just have to think of Mariokart, Kirby’s magic canvas, Nintendogs, Metroid Prime hunters, New super Mario bros and the upcoming Zelda title to know that it is a better games system, wat it lacks is the video and audio capabilities of the psp. The only game on the psp that can have any credit; because i have spent so long on it is Lumines. But thats it….Sony for me is not worth the money and if i could reverse back time I would have never bought one.

I use the DS to play DS games.

I use the PSP to play homebrew and old Nintendo games on the go.

XD Sony’s PSP software is like a ball and cup next to a hot chick.

Meaning the PSP software is gay.

NOW, if you were able to make an original RPG like Nintendo did with Pokemon, but for a much older audience…

well mr sony, as you are among us, you could explain what you intend to do about booster and devhook…
not to mention undiluted platinum and future modchips, that will allow anyway to go on with homebrews/ isos etc
does the “pure”devhook (without reboot.bin) contain any copyrighted code from your company?

I congratulate Sony for its excellent harware with the psp. Now we just would hope more innovative titles to enjoy it. As you can see, without them, many of us use the console more fore its multimedia abilities (thanks pimpstreamer and all) than to play… It’s rather sad.

Olilek u aer asolutely correct, the hardware is there but not the software, most people buy the psp these days for the multimedia properties but most of all to hack it and im afraid sony u buggered it up this time, becuase when u stop the hacking u stop ur sales

Touch screens are overrated and when combined with button useage it degrades gameplay, who the fuck wants to have to tap buttons while at the same time tapping the screen, switching hands all the time (the guys i know who have a ds, hate them and have all gotten psp’s because of me). Any game that isnt the first one with its name, and type is not original. supermario bros 3 was not original neither are any of the other currently avalible (”New”) nintendo games (nintendogs is the closest, which is just a remake of the pc game Pets and all the retarded little digimon and tomigachi toys.) This isnt just a problem with nintendos, its a problem with all media. (thank god for afew new psp games coming soon, hot PXL or wtfe it is, very interesting, aswell as every extend extra)

Next this is to all of you who intelligently posted about boosters legal status, True, booster does not and has not ever uploaded any copy righted material.

Also to everyone saying the software of the psp sucks, indeed it does, otherwise there would not be such drive and power behind the homebrew “scene” to make it better. Sony should be kissing any and all psp homebrew devs for making their console better and more complete. Plain and simple.

and last. There is now an iso loader for 2.60 firmwares and works on all motherboard versions. all i have to say is, good job.

would you take bribes from sony so you wont do it anymore?

would it not be possible to use a devhook patch to over write the original firmware.bin that way it could be released without containing any of SCE properties. making it tottaly legal, the bins can be download from sony so wouldnt be a problem finding them.

you just specify the location of the firmware after running the devhook patch, it then patches over the original firmware.. just an idea?

I dont know how this relates to IT & source codes but in the music industry, intellectual property means only the destination of royalties are directed to a certain party or person. The amount is determined by the govening body and since there is no APRA/AMCOS for source codes, as I understand it (& I may be wrong), you could in theory pay Sony a nom. fee to use that code. Anyone can play anyones song whenever they want wherever they want how ever they want without actually owning or buying the song itself. I’d buy devhook for a cent/penny/pence and all its updates while it is using (not owning or buying, just leasing) Sony source codes. It could be a temp. remedy for this situation.

Is there anyone that knows more about this in the dev world that scrutinise this idea.

Does this mean that no-one can use this code even if it was preburnt on a UMD that happened to be in the drive at the time and the HB app (DH) just so happened to access that to fill its purpose?

Sony is a business and can not afford appear to be not trying to support software companies who work hard to produce titles for the PSP.

So pirates like myself do make it hard for the Sony…. but to give a little back I do buy Sony hardware as it usually is reliable (except for than damn Mini-disc player !!!…what a pile of shit).

Sony cannot do a thing. As long as he isn’t selling his work or profiting from it, they can’t touch him. Yes it’s true he is using their source code but as long as he isn’t making any money from his work, nothing can’t happen. It’s true Sony may have somewhere in the manual where you are not “allowed” to reverse engineer or modify system files or something like that etc etc etc. It’s sort of like me buying a DVD then me making a copy for you to have. Yes it’s frowned upon but if nobody can prove money changed hands then nothing can happen. Yes there is a warning on all DVDs that copying and distributing is illegal but no Judge is going to waste his time if no money changed hands OR that person’s actions aren’t so hinderous where his actions are causing serious financial harm to Sony, which isn’t the case here.

Let it be known, Booster is now working for Sony :(

Booster is working with Sony to allow homebrew on the newer PSP, named the PSPB, I don’t know what the B stands for at this time, but one could say Booster?

The newer model has a faster cpu, more ram, and optional HDD, and a slightly larger screen, yep it’s still UMD.

There is plans for some other ports, maybe this is to allow playing of PS2/PS3 games?

it’s due for release in 2008 when M$ release their portable, no name for this yet.

Hacking is wrong. Its is, face it. Sony has every right to pe pissed. But i read a comment before, Its our psp, we can do what we want with it. This is really true, and if we want to hack we can. Sony should accpt that things like homebrews are not iligal and arent going to go away. They need to stop fighting and imbrace Hacking.

I think sony will make a new frameware and then say this is hack compatable, and it will be, but then trick us into no games working on it if you dont upgrade, and they make it impossible to downgrade. That would suck my left nut.

please help! im on version 1.5 for my psp and iv got devhook version 0.46. 1.5 version for the psp wont let me go on the internet but throught the devhook it will let u on the internet. Sony sends sort of blockers to stop me. When i go on devhook now the sound goes up and changes color of my background then puts a screen up saying settings are corrupt, please restart, wen i restart the same message comes up, plz help.!

how come everytime i want to conect something like this pop out a connection error has occured the wlan switch is not turned on how can i conect it on
