Vice City Stories Info and Screenshots Revealed!

An Australian magazine called Gamepro had the opportunity to provide the first details and screenshots of the most anticipated PSP title of 2006 - Vice City Stories. You’ll be playing as Victor Vance - Lance’s brother. Vic can be seen in the opening scene of GTA: Vice City, as he get killed by a SWAT team.
Below are the details on the game taken from the magazine:
• The game takes place in 1984 - two years before GTA: Vice City
• Victor is a 28 year-old US Marine
• Players can now take on the water of Vice City With jet ski’s!
• The animations are more life-like and is a ‘’step-up from previous titles in the series”
• A multiplayer feature similar to the PSP version of LCS is in the game
• VCS is ”much, much bigger than Vice City”
• Some landmarks are half-built or yet to be refurbished to their state circa 1986
• There’s new or altered locations and buildings
• All new vehicles and weapons
• You can fly helicopters!
• Radio stations from Vice City make a return
• New weather effects that could include hurricanes
• You can swim in the game!
• Bikes handle better than before
• There’s also no more seamless exterior-to-interior gameplay as seen in LCS (There’ll be a slight loading time)
• A new addition in Vice City is the chunder-wheel, which you can ride in first-person view!
• Binoculars is in the game
• LCS is ”rookie first-gen PSP title compared to VCS”
• Draw distance is great and is said to be better than Vice City on PS2
• Trip skips make a return (If you die or get busted a taxi will take you back to the location where you received the mission from)
• New animations which give both the lead characters and pedestrians a whole new degree of humanity
• Far richer color palette that brings sunsets to all new levels of beauty, and realism
• Increased density of pedestrians, cars and objects
• Reduction in clumping (where groups of the same model type appear together)
• Far more interiors that its predecessors
So far there’s no word on the following features:
• Character customization
• Vehicle Customization
• Wall climbing

This is a big step up from LCS, Hopefully by the time it’s launched DevHook is caught up to the required firmware. This game is going to be a must have for sure.

i started to cry when i read the new features.
back in the days when i had vice city, i could play 24/7 without doing anything else. it was as addicting to me as cs is to hardcore gamers. it was seriously the only game i played for like a year or something. GOD I LOVE VICE CITY!!
im definetly upgrading for this even if it gets firmware 3.0 with no homebrew at all.

to make a correction on the origional post, the full article says that VCS is twice as big as Liberty City, however im pretty sure that the VC map was already twice as large as the LC map, even though it actually seemed smaller. maybe someone can clear this up. exciting news eather way

The only thing that I noticed is that there will be no more seamless building entry…Is it because they are bigger…or because the game is bigger…I hope they bring back the fact that you can rob stores…that was so fun. Another thing is, no character coustomization…If they dont do at least the same thing as in LCS then people arent going to be happy…

it’s your psp you do whatever you want with it, but I plan to spend no more money on the psp, nor to permanently upgrade it and am planning to play this game (hint hint)

this would be the only reason i would update. just like LCS, i upgraqded and it came out that the game allowed all you cheapskates to play iso’s.

Alright, I gotta make a comment on this one…Looks like a KICK ASS game, but character customization is only speculation at this point. WHo really cares tho..That’d be like Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion…in other words, an hour of customization so you can stare at the back of your character’s head lol. The 3.0 update will be released with the PS3, or so most sources are saying. If they do that, and release an update JUST to play GTA:VCS, that’d be crazy. Also, I’m gonna say something that has been said a thousand times before. Without Sony, we wouldn’t even have the PSP. So yeah, you can hold a grudge for Sony, for being so over protective of their properties, or we can pray that they’ll bring back the good old days of homebrew for their great console, even if it means a block on booting files on the memstick as UMDs, which would be possible. Or you can hold the spirits of an annoying twelve year old and bitch about how Sony sucks ass. Stop and think, you COULD be playing the DS, buddy boys.
