X-Flash Kerrang Build 4 Released

greg | July 29, 2006

This app is extremely powerful - if you know what you’re doing… For unknown reasons its been neglected to some extent on PSP Hacks as we haven’t covered the continuing updates & improvements. No less, here is X-Flash Kerrang Build 4 from homebrew developer Art! When used properly [and with caution] this application can change various aspects of your PSP’s firmware, also resulting in your very own unique customized firmware version!

Kerrang Build 4 changelog:

  • Fixed in program sound effects to come out of both speakers instead of just the left speaker. Program also displays Mikmod Sound Library version on startup.
  • Added support for analogue joystick in XMB Menu Editor, Document Reader, and Custom Firmware Configurator.
  • Improved XMB Label Editor with faster cursor movement, and changed text is highlighted.

Again, this app touches the PSP’s flash memory - it’s to be used with caution and at your own risk.

I was just wondering wot the point of this is, why would i wanna chance messin with me firmware, wot does this accutually do, does it let me boot up iso’s, from the mem stick or of my hard drive, does it let you surf the net. or is it just a flashy looking thing.
Dev Hook for me all the way….

And guys stop cussing Sony, (not this thread, but plenty of them, especially when it comes to Firmware ie2.8)

If sony had give up then they wouldnt keep doing it would they. Come on guys bang those rocks together.

Cheers..

It states exactly what it does in the discription. Man. Reading is clearly NOT fundimental.

This is a customization tool, that means you can customize your PSP’s look & feel.
You can change “loader” movies, sound FX, & other aspects of the PSP’s interface.

It’s bsicly the same as the standard X-Flash, except it has a cheezy ascii finger instead of the arrows in the menu.

nothing special as far as I could see.

Yes. But when used right, it shouldn’t. But anything could go wrong. There’s always that slight chance…I’ll shut up now.

I just heard from someone that they bricked the fw 1.5 PSP with this. Be careful.

I bricked mine, too. Makes me extremely sad, because I used the old ones, but the ones having to do with Dark_Alex’s custom firmwares kind of screwed up my PSP when I tired to restore it. I cried. That was my second PSP, too..

To those who have BRICKED ther PSP’s, Didn’t follow directions carfully. This app (X-Flash) is truly a piece of Art.

Agree with RxM360!

Put just a litle effor into reading Art’s instructions correctly and you will be sitting with one hella-customized PSP! Read that some dude mention all the “customizations of 2.8″. And sure thats true but consider that we on 1.5 can run homebrew and with this, STILL customize more then you!

It’s this brew and DevHook all the way!
