The main difference is that its possible to write DH 0.46 to flash0, giving you the option to start it from the psp’s flash instead of running it of the MemoryStick. Should save battery juice and speed up some games.

sorry, that was my fault – it’s not actually a zip archive. If you have already downloaded it – just rename the .zip extension to .exe and it’ll work. I’ve corrected the file on the server now.

This is just an app on ur computer that installs DevHook on ur PSP automatically, not new news for ppl who know how to install it, but extremly good for ppl who are still having trouble installing it.

@vicecity55 1.50 is firmware version u should try to download hombrew for 1.5fw but if u get any hombrew for 1.5x+ then run it throgh kxploit

axelS, you can stuff your 2.71 upgraded psp into some hole until anyone finds a way to get it back. Cause it’s wise to think first, than do things. Any FW above 2.60 is unable to run homebrew apps as of yet.

I got a 2.00 retail, and downgraded it to 1.5. Best thing I ever did. It takes everything. :-)

Use PBP Unpacker to remove the AT3 file from the eboot

Extract the EBOOT from your devhook
%__SCE__DH_ENG folder

You will see the PARAM.SFO,
icon0.png , PIC1.PNG and a SND0.AT3 file

Just remove the SND0.AT3 file (The sound File) ,

And repack the EBOOT without it.

Hello all. I have few problems if anyone is kind to help me out. I just got my PSP 2.71 and I want to install Devhook 0.46.

I tryed Ultimate installer 0.46, putted my memory stick into my notebook, installed devhook 0.46 on it, removed memory stick, putted it into PSP and tryed to run devhook that I see under Game and nothing, I get always this error: This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted.

Anyone knows what I did wrong, any clues what to do to get it working. I would really apreciate some help.

You need kernel mode access. v2.71 does not have that. Only fw v1.50 does. If you had, say a fw prior to v2.70 (1.00-2.6/compatible motherboard) you could attempt a downgrade to fw v1.5. Sorry, but you simply cannot use this, dude.

Oh oh I see hehe stupid me. So if I understand right. If I have FW2.71 I can not run devhook and run .iso files. Will that be possible soon? Is there any avaible downgraders from 2.71 to 1.50?

Sorry mate, afaik there is no way to downgrade, neither should you hold your breath about a fix I think. I returned my first 2.71 PSP as it couldn’t run any homebrew.

if you can use it an any way you better. works freaken flawless yea you gatta learn a little bit to use all the features, but its worth it it dosent just trick the psp into thinking its another firmware its compleatly converted to it this is a god send…..sniff sniff lol

I compress mine to cso. I think you have to use a different loader than devhook to run dax compressed files. But I’m not positive as I’ve never tried it. Compression level 9 is the highest compression rate for cso files. I think dax compression is a little smaller but not much.

I flashed the settings and stuff on the psp and i can assure u, it works like a charm.
I use harleyg’s custom fw and a number of other mods, all of which didnt affect the flash to the least.
Just keep that AC plug on and theres nothing to fear.
ps. u get increased speed almost everywhere + u keep ur settings always with u.
Recommended.

Devhook is a fw emulator. It allows u to load a fw right off ur mem stick without writing on ur psps internal memory where the actual fw is installed. ie u can load 2.71 on 1.5 psp. This lets u play new games and use stuff like the internet browser not available in 1.5

polsky use 9, its the best option. u wont notice quality loss

I cant get 2.6 to work with the auto-installer. I installed 4.6 first and then went back and installed 2.6 firmware for it too, but when i try to boot up as 2.6 it freezes and the psp shuts off. But 2.7 still works fine.

as long as you dont have ta-082 or whatver it is mother board or ic60061 on the inside it should work fine, if you had a factory 2.6 psp it will work because my psp was a 2.6 facotry and now im on 1.5 but its up to you if you want to take the risk of bricking to downgrade your psp i did and its great!

why does the bleach custom pack doesn’t work for me? when it starts and the logo psp appears, it freezes, and it’s quite annoying, any1 with this same problem?

I just installed DevHook 0.46 and flashed the files to the internal memory(I used the ChaosZero’s tut just to be safe) and it worked perfectly. The internet and games seem to really load faster. Cool

Also, robs1968, Thanks for the thing about removing the sound file, I had the program but never even thought about it. Even icons are simple to change.

Thanks for the help, went research on how to downgrade. Have checked that mine is not ta-082 and my factory FW is 2.5. But i need to have old version of gta in order to downgrade. Think it’s hard to get it in singapore…

i have tried both versions full and simple

both have all working ok
exept that the browser gets stuck at optaining ip adress in both version and it seems worse at 333mhz

try using the uninstall program left on your memory card when you installed the first time and then try to reinstall it yt

Ok, wut that meens is that a file from either the flash0 or flash1 directories is missing. I recommend reinstalling the firmware….manually, it’s not hard at all, just download DevHook 0.44, it comes with the 2.71 firmware dump, all u do is extract wut ever is in the .rar file that u downloaded and grab the ‘dh’ folder in it then put it where the other ‘dh’ folder is, and when it askes u to over write it say yes, and it should be fixed, but u don’t need the EBOOT from DevHook 0.44, just the ‘dh’ folder.

srry to ask stupid questions but i am a noob

okay so i finally got the 2.71 fw dump, but now i can’t flash the rom- when i do what it says on Chaos Zero’s tutorial my psp says it is flashing the stuff but when i start to run 2.71fw i don’t think it has even flashed because everthing is going slower and accoring to what people have said it should be going faster. (E.X- i go to the internet browser to start it up and it takes 7 seconds to start also i see the memory stick light blinking) if it has been saved to the XMB it shouldn’t be reading the ms, right?

PLZ IF SOMEONE COULD HELP IT WOULD BE NICE

is there a special option saying to run it from the flash? I haven’t flashed it because i honestly fear the bricking, so just wait for someone who has flashed it and gotten it working to respond. Try experimenting and trying different options to see if it works.

@squidman- there is no special option asking u whether u want to run the fw from the flash, but i think i will just stick with version .45 and hopefully after all his legal troubles are over booster will make a newer version of devhook

first off, the web browser wus created to run at the default speed (222/111MHz), so if u set it to run at 333/166MHz, it will crash. some odd ball reason, can’t fix that tho.

and ur games not saving……i don’t know wut to do about that, try manually reinstalling the firmware, i have had no problems at all and i manually put it there. Just ask if u don’t know how to manually install it with out this hand dandy notebook, er i meen app

If it were to come preloaded at 333MHz, u wuld be able to change it.

I honestly recommend manually reinstalling the firmware, not using the installer to do so.

there really is something flawed in the auto installer cuz when i did it devhook would not emulate 2.71, but once i did it maually it worked fine , but no flahing

i got the games to save by using a ordinary card as i was using the datel4gb hard drive b4 but still no internet browser (i checked and i am running at 222)also could someone tell me how to get this to load up the 2.00 firmware

Way to go, u figured out ur game save problem!

to put 2.00 Firmware, u need the dump for it, then u need to put it in the folder “x:\dh\200″ tell it to overwrite any existing files.

P.S.
u can get the 2.71 dump from DevHook .044 (i think), then u can just follow wut i told u to do to put 2.00 on the memorystick to reinstall 2.71 and mostlikely get it working

u dumped it with the devhook firmware installer? it should already be in the correct place. it should be in the folders like this “x:\dh\200″ so the folders for the 2.00FW (flash0 and flash1) should be in that 200 folder.

the numbers represent the firmware number with out the decimal point.

hey peeps, i tried this version DH 0.46 auto installer, but after installing my iso files wouldn’t run. I had to revert back to DH 0.43 in order to play my games !

ppl have had a little too much trouble with this installer.
Just download devhook 0.44 it comes with the dump for 2.71, then put that on ur memorystick, then download DevHook 0.46 so now u’ll have a fresh and working 2.71 firmware dump rarin’ to go, and an EBOOT without any flaws.

If u don’t know how to do the manuall install, just come back and aks ;)

If i knew how to program, I culd prolly help out more and make a installer that wuld prolly work better, but i can’t say that, good job Chaos.

u meen the screen that says “Sony Playstation Portable”? set it to 222MHz, it requires a UMD to run when set ot 333MHz, but u don’t need a UMD when it’s set to 222MHz

But if u start it at 222MHz u can hit HOME+START and change the CPU Clock speed to 333MHz anyways.

now that i’ve helped the question that u asked, evryone experiences that……it’s not normally ment to run at a faster speed, so it crashes
