Yeah how do you install this thing? I moved everything in the psp folder to my psp fodler and tried running it in 2.71. However it just says the game could not be started. Any help?

The 2.xx homebrew is POC, so we need to convert our homebrew in order to make them work for emulated 2.xx. After being converted, you can launch it off the emulated 2.xx but I believe it also makes the homebrew unuseable on the 1.50 XMB

Why is this file (usbhostfs_pc.exe) Opening 3+ times in the Task Manager? Why is this file taking up 75% to 100% of the CPU Uasge When the USB is not running? Why is this file acting as a server to the net and taking up my bandwidth when it’s a USB connection? Why doesn’t this file close when the PSPUsbLink.exe is closed? I Like the idea of hosting ISO’s on the pc but when it comes to trojan action files, The files gets deleted and shredded. So using the USB to run ISo’s are out of the question.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but won’t using this in conjunction with the Dual-Boot custom firmware allow you to boot straight to 2.7(emulated) and run homebrew(after they’ve been converted of course). So does the modchip have any advantage at all over 1.5 users any more?

How the hell do you run homebrew on 2.7? This is worse then 0.44 and the ultimate installer doesn’t help a bit, just takes out the cool loading of 2.71 and gives a really gay background, at least this still runs ISOs fine but I’d really like a 0.45 specific guide, not one that’s 0.44 but has an updated link.

Guys, isn’t it a cusom firmware of some kind? I mean, normal 1.5 with 2.7 functionality.

The only thing left to do is to flash this FW into PSP for good with the ability to unflash/upgrade to another CFW.

So can people with firmware 2.5+ run this software? Or is it still meant for people with 1.5 or lower? (or 2.0 with downgrader, whatever)

Ok, cadaber, heres a non-stupid question…..how in hell do u run homebrew on the 2.71 emulation? I don’t know and since u seem to know evrything about devhook, i’m asking u…….

and yes, i know that we have to convert it…..but, how do u convert it?……..just a simple question that everyone is asking in different ways that makes it harder to answer……

As for the ppl who r asking how to run wifi/web browser on 2.71, the fix hasn’t been released/created yet for wifi use on 333MHz (fastest CPU speed), so set it to 222MHz (default CPU speed), then once it’s connected to the network (after u get a page loaded) u can hit HOME+SELECT to change the CPU speed, then the wifi will be working on highest CPU speed giving u the best performance possible :)

but please remember that u must do this everytime u connect to a network.

for major n00bs: u’ll know it has connected to the network when the page loads on the web browser.

as a side note, the CPU speed also applies to the creating of a connection and scanning for available networks.

no matter what i do, or what combination of settings i use, the same thing happens. the memory card light flashes for a couple of seconds and then the screen goes black and a have to turn the psp off. i cant get any thing to work with this. please help!!!

outlander83: did u get ur memorystick from ebay? if u did, it maybe fake. If not, and ur trying to run 2.71, check the folders on the memorystick. I meen go into the ‘dh’ folder then go into the folder labled 271, if there’s wierd folders with names that r squares, and random symbols, then the file is corrupt, and u need to run diskcheck to delete it and then reinstall it

I think that in order to make homebrew work with emulation of fw 2.7 it needs to be 1.0 eboot compatible. Correct me if I am wrong as I surely believe so. Give it a try.

i never claimed to know everything about devhook, but to answer your question the package from chaos zero has a convertion tool (from what i understand)

and for my record my previous comment was directed to people who ask the same stupid questions over and over when the answer is right there in the original post or in the read me and thats why i say learn to read, the majority of questions would be answered if the asker would just read the original post

Even though it says you can boot homebrew in the XMB, I can’t boot homebrew in 2.6 or 2.71 or any of the firmwares. I get the “corrupt data” error.

But otherwise I’m happy with the new release :)

use the orginal gta because for so far i now the fixed one do not work with devhook shrink it to cso and there is no problem about size

for changing games only use home and right button
format your stick and use the ultimate installer then you have a clean install

indeed fuzzy dan its so easy maybe a good advice worked fine by me also format your stick install the ultimate devhook then you have a clean install for sure put a iso file in it and go! run devhook and play it all! all games work fine on it talking about 35 games!

bob dole: first, download a later version (0.44) and get the decrypted 2.71/2.60…..extract all the files to ur desktop, go into “My Computer” and open ur PSP, drag all the files right there……exit USB mode, then go to the games section and run DevHook, once in a black screen with white letters hit the circle button, then go to the firmware section and select 2.71, then go to the CPU speed and select the one with 222 then go to start…….

or pbp unpacker you have to look around

I still have the 333MHz problem where you can’t start DevHook in 333MFz mode, but you can switch it in the XMB with the “Home+Select” buttons at least. I don’t see that many changes, it must be all “under the hood”.

when i go to the memory stick section under the game icon and click on a hombrew game (e.x pspacman) it won’t open it

I’ve been looking on how to extract SFO files from PBP so I can convert them for 2.71 emulated fw. I don’t really understand the 3rd step.

I don’t seem to find anything like that when I open the SFO file with my binary editor.

pbp unpacker is for pbp files not sfo ..at least that’s what i think.

1. only 1.5fw can be run in kernel mode
2. devhook or any umd/iso loader can ONLY be run on a 1.5 FW (iow kernel mode)
2.2. FW 1.0 and 2.0+ runs in user mode
(althou i may have mixed them up but 1.5 runs in a different way then the other fw’s, or alteast have the acces to it)
3. Im working on a DevHook MPHL.ed. that might run 2.7+ fw req games (might not work at all)
4.check the tard forum or STFG if you cant run DevHook 0.3+ or even install it..at all
(or use Chaos Zero’s user friendly tard pack)
5.DevHook 0.23+ requires an umd in the drive ( which is still the “old” way) to run an iso game with f.w 2.5+
6. DevHook MPHL.ed those not require an umd in the drive but the fw booting thing is left out..
(6.2. and cannot run Fw req games 2.7+ atm)
7. which is a shame but takes less space tho ^^
8. also running a fw booted from your MS also takes a bit RAM space on your psp which might make “hb” unstable ( this im not 100% sure with tho)

9. to exit your booted FW press home then exit
(in which my case did not work at all)
if this do not work pull up the I/O (a.k.a power button) button for 10sec..
or take out the battery…
10. althou if its true that DH 0.44+ now can run all games up to date then its really great (without modifieing the prx files that is). Too bad thou, that the “must always have an umd in the drive when booting iso games req fw 2.0/2.5+” still exists…
11. my guess is to boot eboots on your 2.71 fw booted from ur MS in ur psp, you either have to use that gta exploit thingie or use 1.0 /2.0 fw Eboots
or what is now to come
12. and to those that would want an cmf like a 2.71 that can eboots err..homebrew..
remember only 1.5 has kernel mode which still has more space than user mode ( or vv)

1. compressed ( those into .cvs or whatever used) games like iso games have often the video/audio part most compressed which might make your iso games unstabble or might load/work at all or have laggy audio/video since almost all games have pmp files err..video running at the start of the load of each game.

3. In which this case would make about 80-90% of all psp games not loading at all. Only perhaps if you have ripped away that part or relinked those files..

4. all psp “games” can be run on all psp with the right firmwire movies are region coded tho..

ok i need some help first of all its pretty easy to convert all u need is the prxtool and pbp-unpacker but the only problem i have is when i open up the prxtool the command prompt just flashes and then goes away and yes i have the cygwin.dll

but back on topic: white man, answer this, did u get ur memorystick from ebay?…..it just might be fake, but there is a way to fix it in forums, well, it worked for some guy, it’s a batch file, that will fix something, or….i don’t know how it works but it might work out for u.

and if u didn’t get it from ebay, then charge ur PSP, and if ur trying to run 2.71 on 333MHz, then u need a UMD in the drive, but u can run it on 222MHz without a UMD with thes new version ;)

plug ur PSP into the computer and put into USB mode, then click start and then click on “run” then type “chkdsk e:/f” into that (without quotes) and then let it do it’s thing, and read what it says, and follow it’s directions, and then ur set.

if u don’t feel like going through the trouble of using a DOS based command then follow this:

Plug ur PSP into the computer in USB mode, open it the same way u put this fine piece of homebrew on to the system. but go into the ‘SYSTEM’ folder and u should see a folder named ‘RSSCH’…since u can’t delete it with out the last step (it’s corrupted and doesnt’ take much space ne ways) so right-click and rename it, then create a new folder named RSSCH and then use the test RSS channel.

I’ve done this and have told other ppl about this and has worked for them too :)

“Caravan” and “DMU” game Dumpers often have untouched isos so either use them.

but since many sites / torrents that host isos which i spoke of a couple of days ago ruins them.. they either: change the original prx files..the game folders original setup etc.. so often try to to find what release group ur game is from but now about 90% of all those dumps are either touched / edited by some ppl and then reseeded / resupplied again on “those” sites trackers err..servers..

and i guess that more than 90% of you ppl either use theys versions instead of untouched ones* meaning a pure rip and stored on ey image fil (iso) iow

which leads to a problem now ey? ;D

We/I know that talking ’bout isos err.. umd dumps.. is illigal in some way but more than half of the psp users in the world already knows this and dont care.

so in other words, finding untouched ones is very hard now depending on that most sites / ppl dont leave the old or new info files in each release just a simple LEER.txt

im having problems i cant even access internet on .45 but i could on .44 it appears to load then just sits i can still use the psp but clicking on internet doesnt do anything and clicking on rss freeze’s the psp yet on .44 they both worked… well saving rss for me didnt….

@ Thaya – DevHook 0.45 only works on 1.5 PSPs. As of now, you can not downgrade 2.70 or 2.71 PSPs.

first i thank you, for being the first person who actually read and thanked me for helping. but getting on to ur problem, I personally have not tried that program, so if u could give me the link to the app+that cygwin.dll that u keep on mentioning. Then i could help u. But i have had that happen when i tested mi own LUA games! so it’s kinda the same thing.

If ur PSP is version, like u go into system settings, and it’s 2.71, then u can’t use this, this i ment for v1.5 PSP’s to use to emulate up to 2.71 firmware. So this is not for u then. srry :(

i don’t know if this wuld help but i’d try reinstalling the firmware dump on the memorystick (u don’t have to chang much settings ne ways). if that doesn’t work, then the drive itself is broken and i don’t know wut to do unless u know where to buy it, and how to switch it out.

Well, u did say it was working in 1.5 right? so i’m thinkg that 2.71 file is missing (my 2.71 got messed up and i had to run a disk check to fix it, then reinstall it, so maybe the disk reading part of 2.71 is screwed up?….just an idea for ya

no i would it was that simple even reading a disk in 1.50 isn,t possible no my drive is broken i hope in the next devhook using your own iso,s without reading the umd drive but thanks anyway

Ok, i got it working, u have been trying to run it by double clicking the prxtool.exe file haven’t u, the instructions in the readme.txt says to run it through command prompt so here’s wut i did:

1) move the prxtool.exe and cygwin1.dll into ur ‘WINDOWS’ folder (just where i put it for less typing)

2) click start and select “Run”

3) inside the “Run” type box that came up, type in “cmd” (with out quotes ofcourse)

4) when ur own command prompt comes up type in “C:\WINDOWS\prxtool.exe” (exactly that way)

follow these instructions and it should work :)

Well, u can really put it in any folder u want, just with no spaces (i tried the desktop at first also with no luck), so i just chose to put it there, cause it’s one folder up where command prompt is.

I can’t give info on where to find apps for the developy ppl on this site, but i can give help on how to use this app (plus more) to it’s fullest (minus the homebrew part on this version of this app). But if u happen to be missing a .dll that is needed to run such an app though. I just haven’t explored this forum, or many other forums that much.

U can get the dump for 2.71 from DevHook 0.44. U can get 2.60 from DevHok 0.43, u can get 2.50 and 2.00 by ur self by downloading the firmware isntaller, and the actual updates. then extract the DATA.PSAR from the updates put the DATA.PSAR in the root of the memorystick (first area u see when u open the PSP on the computer) and run the game titled “fw installer” and it will dump the firmware for u, can’t be done on 2.71 or 2.60, hence y i pointed u to the past versions for the dumps.

Instead of starting DevHook and telling it to load it at 333MHz, start it at 222MHz, 333 requires a UMD in the game, and 222 doesn’t, the 333 speed out thinks the loading of the memorystick (so to speak) and it crashes, but 222 is the default so u don’t need a UMD here.

What i meen by those numbers is: Underneath the Firmware version there is an option for CPU Speed. if u use the default 222/111 u don’t need a UMD to boot 2.71, but if u go further and set it to 333/166, then u NEED the UMD to boot it.

I believe it’s with DevHook 0.42/0.43, go to the downloads section and clik on firmware, then i forget, but there’s an obvious looking link that u can take that will lead u to all that is homebrew, i think u can evn download the dumps directly from this site :) so have a looksy at that.

well, first it’s a long process that i read…….
secondly, i don’t know, but if u go to the link that pspforever gave me to get the prxtool, it has a kinda ghetto tutorial on how to do it….i don’t really understand what alot of the stuff they’re talking about caus i don’t develope homebrew. But i am slowly looking into it, although, i can easily just go back to 1.5 and be using the homebrew, so it doesn’t really bother me.

But I have an idea for the devs:

im back well it aint a fake its a sandisk one i bought from a store and i tested it on a proper 512 mb stick doesnt work on either… so im f*cking confused the sticks both of em including the 512 mb i only got 2 weeks ago have worked perfect for everything else but .45 of devhook i reinstalled the firmware no help by the way .45 works for me if i only load 2.6 firmware not 2.71 but i want flash movies… and i want to be able to use rss feeds properly

have u tried putting a UMD in the drive, then run devhook at the highest CPU speed and then hit HOME, then YES and it should take u back to the PSP’s spiffy emulated 2.71 XMB menu :)

try a UMD emulator that are used with ISO’s to make DevHook think that’s loading another UMD when it’s really loading an ISO….worth a try.

yes its worth to try i already looked for it i can not find a good one heard about fastloader dax but they dont tell what version to use i have called to sony also but they say to me they do not repair but they give you a totaly new psp of course with firmware 2.71 well that sucks for me of course..the first thing they say to me was to upgrade to 2.71 then the problem most be solved ha ha you believe it

Y do u need 2.00 to run homebrew?….if u have 1.5, then u can use homebrew with out 2.00……but having 3 separate firmwares takes alot of space, wut size memorystick do u have!?!!

squidman no for the flash folders there is a readme file saying:

devhook FW1.50 with MemoryStick file root directry.
flash access is redirect to this directry.
You should be copy all files of flash0/flash1 under here.
And replace flash0/kd/*.txt with plain modded config files.

Oh, that, It’s just saying put the flash0, flash 1 and ipl folders right in there for it to work with DevHook.

Simply: Put the full firmware dump in that folder

if u were to put the dump for 2.71 in the 200 folder, and selected 2.00 under the firmware selection, it wuld load up 2.71

Do any of ur other games load? but if DevHook doesn’t work, and u don’t care about the features of 2.60/2.71 then u can use other apps that are made to specifically load UMD’s like the Genesis Loader, etc.

I hope u didn’t change anything below the Clock speed.

well, apparently some1 bricked their 2.71 PSP for unknown reasons. That meens that something was going on with the PSP’s flash disk, so if the story is true, there’s a hole somewhere in the 2.71 firmware that could possibly create a downgrader.

But the story hasn’t been clarified, so don’t get ur hopes up.

Atleast u can get a small taste of ghetto homebrew written in flash ;)

BTW: I had no patience for 1.51FW (mi PSP’s firmware from the store), but i waited and waited, then they came out with the downgrader for 2.00, so i updated then downgraded………life lesson :)

i know… i got my psp from singapore recently with 2.60 and looked hacking scene for a while.. i admit i was hasty… i know i will wait now.. lesson learned.

but then u did have a 75% – 15% chance of the downgrade working…….on 2.6, better chances on 2.5, but the 75 being it working……….well, i hope that they do create one for all those 2.71 ppl, my cousin doesn’t understand homebrew, he almost updated mi PSP to play Shin Budokai…..

Yes, i’ve gotten it working, wut’s happening to it, will it even load the web browser, or is it not connecting to a page over the web?

If it’s not working (just freezing up on ya and crashing) then reboot the PSP completely and start up DevHook again, then make the browser the first thing u use before u do anything else. It should work, though there is a wierd glitch that won’t load it after running a UMD game/movie. (Keep that last sentence in mind).

If it’s not connecting to a page, then simply set it to 222MHz, then once it’s connected to wut ever ur connecting to, do HOME+SELECT to set it back to 333MHz

Well, just a small correction, 333MHz does work, u just need a UMD in the drive unlike other emulated firmwares, it doesn’t need a UMD when set to 222MHz though. But u can set it to 333MHz any time u want to by hitting HOME+SELECT.

but to put it on the memorystick:
1) go into USB mode
2) go into the folder labled “dh”
3) then put the dump directly into the folder named “200″

If u look at the rar that i uploaded for ya, i put it in the placement it should be, so inside that rar there should be a folder named “dh”, so just open that up and move the contents of that into that “200″ folder that i mentioned earlier.

question i really really like how when you boot up 2.71 with .44 it has that auduable sound saying “playstation portable….” what file is that i wanna use it as a game boot sound so it says that everytime i load a game or iso instead of that “slasher” sound it makes now. i already got the game boot vid back to normal i just dont know how to manipulate the sounds.

all this chatter is going on because we’ve been over the homebrew loading on 2.71, to answer that, all i can say is, leave it to the developers, there’s prolly going to be an app on the copy that does it for u in the future.

The sound i don’t know about, all i know is where the noise is for when a game is started. It’s part of the movie sequence, so ur gonna need some special tool (unknown to me at this moment) to separate it. If u wanna look at it, it’s in “x:\dh\271\flash0\vsh\resource” It’s called “gameboot.pmf”

during the emulation, it really thinks that it’s 2.00, so u can use the GTA loader or the TIFF loader, the only diff between the 2 is that u don’t need GTA for the TIFF loader, it’s just a pic that loads it.
