PSPUAE: Ubiquitous Amiga Emulator
greg | July 10, 2006
Its been awhile for this one, PSPUAE – the Amiga 500 emulator for your Sony PSP! This new version supports 1.50 FW compatibility and more… 4 channel sound mode, the save-states have been re-introduced, and the Kickstart Rom Selector!
For a little history lesson on the Amiga 500 home-computer system, check out wikipedia!
Thanks to Ric & FOL for the release! I personally appreciate this update; I grew up with the Amiga 500 and it brings back glorious memories.

first maybe nice app
whoohooo .. Amiga all back in town again .. can’t wait to see if i can show of some good old demo’s on my PSP
4 channel sound? as in surround sound? They had that back then!?
and the PSP has 4 speakers???
4 channels means two channels per stereo speaker. Lisa audiochipset for Amiga has native 4 channels to play simultanious samples, however it can emulate more through AHI.
Any hopes of imrpoving speed on this? This is my favourite app on PSP for sure!
Hey, anybody know what games that is on the screenshot?
Does this work on a psp vr 2.01?
Game on the screens is – Stunts Cars, really cool one 8) Present game – TrackMania it its remake btw.
I have a quetions too – where to get Amiga Dump File?
The readme says that you have to have a {VALID Amiga ROM dump file} where can we obtain this?
Can anyone tell me were i can download amiga games for this umulator?
Try this for games – http://ancient.amiga.hu/d.html
thanks man
but know i need the amiga rom dump file.
another thing, to make this work because i have a psp vr2.01 i have to have gta libert city stories?
Heh. Anybody tryes Google for Dumps? 8)
If not – here is it for you, dump files:

First test – 1.50 with Kickstart 1.3 and “SWOS” (original version, not 96-97) – sound corruption noted, and the load is actually quite long (far longer than before), but at least it runs (unlike the previous release, where it hung on the intro, at least on my PSP). Gameplay is possible, but not entirely pleasant (and seemingly around 50-60% speed on zero frameskip, and about 70% on frameskip one – after that, it is not really worth playing), but still encouraging, albeit sluggish. Work on the load time and a few gameplay tweaks would be great. Doesn’t emulate the A1200 yet…I don’t think, even if it includes options for Kickstart 3.0. If somebody can put me right on this, that’d be great. See below for an AGA test.
By the way, just in case you run Amiga “SWOS” on your PC, check out http://www.eibmoz.dk/swos0506/index.html for an 05/06 update (would be lovely to eventually get this working on the PSPUAE).
Second Test – Just to check out the A1200 compatability: “The Clue” (AGA) – crashes the PSP.
Third Test – “Pizza Connection / Pizza Tycoon” – takes AGES to load, and had a problem inserting discs after Disc 2. Would appreciate somebody checking this out.
Would try out some more later…

Thanks for checking SWOS Doody, I’ve been playing the Megadrive version of Sensi up till now, I hope the Devs can pull more speed from the PSP so I can play SWOS 96/97 on the go!
CoasterFreak:
The game is called Stunt Car Racer (don’t say it when you’ve had a few).
What’s the speed like with this emu? Brutal Sports Football ran OK with the last one, but the State Of The Art Demo was a bit sluggish.
Cheers
Kenny
Gawd I love stunt car racer. It played really well on the last version of this emu, North and South was playable too. I’ve been looking all over for brutal sports football but cant find it anywhere! Oh, The New Zealand Story was another one of my faves, tho Its easier to play the Mega Drive version on DGEN.
! STUNT CAR RACING !!!
HELL YEAH !!!
ah crap – i had more than a few
strnt car racint – stunt car racing – strunt car trosaing
ah no problem
The mega drive emulator has a ‘fit’ to screen option that works well, anyone know if theres a similar option in PSPUAE as the zoom chops the top and bottom off the screen?
Further Test: “Barbarian” (C64 Port) – it doesn’t run well at all either. It was fairly slow as a game already, but at least the load time was quick.
Will keep you all updated as I check through more over time.
…
I think in the meantime, while this emulator is improved, it would be worthwhile taking a look at the AtariST emulator (”CaSTaway” ((Release 005))), which is the best example of a home computer emulator I’ve seen (if you forget the tailor-made ScummVM project, which doesn’t actually emulate a particular system). It certainly shows what can be done (I think it’s practically perfect, and it has a stunning virtual keyboard), and besides, I don’t think the Atari ST was that different to the Amiga 500 (both had 68000 processors, even if the Amiga had custom ones), so it should be possible to tweak this Amiga one further, so I remain confident about such a future release.
ATARI ST EMULATOR LINKS.
A little complicated, but you need the following:
1) Emulator (which couldn’t be found on PSP-Hacks):
http://www.emulation64.com/files/info/646/
Make sure to read the readme file as it specifies where to put your files.
2) Roms (which are hard to come by):
http://www.aitpast.com/aitpasti/action.php
(A French site, but with 75% English language games).
Also the best one:
http://www.atarilegend.com
(You HAVE to register here, because the game rom files themselves only show up after doing so – look under “gamefile” on the page of the game you wish to download when you complete the process and you’ll be able to see the download link – it’ll be in the middle right-hand box – it won’t appear otherwise. Many, many, games available, including “Another World”).
3) TOS files (just like Kickstart files – these go in the “Atari_ST” folder in your “GAME” directory):
http://home.ptd.net/~cjhafner/
(Get the 1.02 one).
IMPORTANT: if you experience a failure in the TOS file, make sure it is named “TOS.ROM”.
I hope that will tide things over until this UAE emulator is ready. “Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe”, for example, works perfectly, as does “Cruise for a Corpse” (if you have a manual for the copy protection, or a cracked version) and a number of other “Amiga” games :). I’ve gained a great deal of respect for the ST in the past couple of weeks, so I hope you find this fun.
Leave any questions here and I’ll answer.
Enjoy,
^Doody.
Final note:
For the cracked intros of most games, use the virtual keyboard to click on “Alt”.

More games – probably an even better site:
