PSPAtari and PSPCAP32 Emulator Updates!

greg | July 9, 2006

This guy never sleeps, I swear! ZX-81 has just updated PSPAtari – the Atari 800, 800XL, 130XE and 5200 emulator. And has also shared an update for PSPCAP32, the Amstrad CPC emulator. Two classic systems with plenty of addicting games [roms] to keep you entertained for awhile!

First we’ll look at the PSPAtari update:

PSPAtari Screenshot

PSPAtari v1.0.3 includes:

  • Improve the sound, it’s now much more better
  • The percent of battery left is now displayed in the emulator window
  • Add a watchdog to automatically return to the emulator menu when the battery is very low (< 5%)
  • Enter directly in the emulator menu on startup (instead of the ATARI screen)
  • Bug fix in smooth image algorithm (resulting in wrong color display)
  • Add keyboard change skin option (you can add your own virtual keyboard images in the graphics directory).
  • Modify the file requester to memorize separately the last locations/directory of rom image and keyboard (much more convenient!)

For anyone having difficulties loading 5200 ROMS, you’ll have to load them using the original Atari800 emulator menu. Select “Cartridge management”, “Insert cartridge”, and specify your disk image file. Choose the cartridge type 5200 and go back to the emulator using the LTrigger.

And now for the PSPCAP32 v1.1.1 release:

PSPCAP32 Screenshot
  • New keyboard files from Loic Daneels (more than 470 games!)
  • Improve the sound, it’s now much more better!
  • The percent of battery left is now displayed in the emulator window
  • Add a watchdog to automatreturn to the emulator menu when the battery is very low (< 5%)
  • Add option to modify the “sound tick average” value (usefull to avoid sound distortion on many games)
  • Enter directly in the emulator menu on startup (instead of the CPC screen)
  • Bug fix in smooth image algorithm (resulting in wrong color display)
  • Other bug fix (sdl semaphore) and code cleaning

For more details regarding both emulators refer to the README.txt file – it’s included in both archives.

Quality, Atari XE, I had one of these as well as the 2600 years before of course, anyway on the XE was a game called Rescue on Fractalus by Lucasarts, man I used to love it, would be great to play that on PSP!
