[...] Currently, the PSP is running 2.71 SE-B Custom Firmware. At the time of purchase it was running 2.50, however around July 1st 2006 a downgrader was released that takes advantage of a known exploit in the GTA:LCS game. This allowed version 1.50 to be loaded onto the PSP’s internal flash. This was somewhat of a gamble at the time, due to the early unstable nature of the downgrader. However after upgrading to 2.60, and then running the downgrader, it went off without a hitch. Now the PSP is running 1.50, and has DevHook 0.41d running which allows the loading of compressed ISO’s (disc images of games). So far, NBA, Lumines, Wipeout Pure, Cars, and Street Fighter Alpha 3 all have been run, and all work fine with no crashing. DevHook uses a combination of techniques to allow games to be loaded. First, it can emulate various firmware versions in order to allow newer games to be run. After starting DevHook, and it reloading your PSP (sort of), it looks exactly like a higher version of firmware. However after playing the desired game, you can reload your PSP and you are back at 1.50. ISO’s are the preferred way to play games off your memory stick for a couple of reasons. Simplicity, organization, error hashing, and other reasons. [...]

Well I have a psp that was Originally a 2.0, it was upgraded to 2.60 and it does not have a Number on the back of the UMD slot. I don’t have GTA but I can run the eloader that I downloaded from the internet, I can run the DOWNDATER TEST but when it stars all goes black and the memory does not flash. I think it has to do with the DOWNDATER folder that has the 1.5 dumping…WHERE is it that goes? exactly??? I have tried to put it everywhere. It’s great stuff for PSP user, I try with brand new PSP with 2.5 and 2.6 factory firmware. It’s WORK with out problem.
Now with DevHook.4X launcher, I also can play UMD games max 2.71 firmware. Love more my PSP.
I love you guys too, thank you for the hard work.
Can’t wait to see other new stuff come again ;P
