OK, so I followed the instructions, copied all the files to my PSP, plugged it in just to make sure the battery didn’t die in the process, and loaded up the downgrader. I kept watching the memory stick light flash, which went on for a while. What I didn’t expect was for the thing to automatically reboot to a screen stating my configuration was corrupted in many different languages. Nothing was written about that! Almost gave me a heart attack! I instinctively powered off and waited for a minute, then turned it back on with pounding heart – I was sure I had bricked it and was cursing myself for being so impatient and not waiting for a final version. I read the warning a little more carefully, though, and it said press O to restore configuration. That I did and was instantly relieved to see it was asking for setup info. I re-entered everything and VOILA! 1.5!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSS!!!!! I’m so frigging relieved, you can’t believe. Honestly, though, I wish I had been warned about the automatic reboot and warning screen.

Success here too it worked!!! I was very nervous despite all the people claiming it but I thought what the hell if it doesn’t owrk I will take it back to the store (who provide a year gurantee as they wouldn’t know what was wrong!!). Was originally a 2.5 > 2.6 now a 1.5!!!! :)

This Downgrader is great. It worked on my PSP which I had upgraded to 2.5 when it was orginally 1.5. I got a little freaked when some weird message popped up telling me to restore to factory settings. When I turned off the PSP and then turned it back on it gave me the same message, so I pressed “O” and went through the settings and BAM I have 1.5 now. Thank you very much for this working beta.

well i’m going to try it right now… i hope this isn’t the last tie my psp will be working.

After the downgrade, wouldnt it be better to upgrade to 2.0 and then downgrade to 1.5? This will help us counter any side-effects, if any.

well all went well for me! I went to pspupdates.com and got the 1.50 helper files for my 1.5 psp, i also got the downdater 2.60 files, then i upgraded my 2.50 psp to a 2.60 psp just to make sure, and then i fallowed all the instructions for what to do with the 1.50 helper files. I got all the files i needed from my 1.50 psp. Next i fallowed the instructions for the 2.60 psp downdater test and put in the ac power cord. waited a long time for the light to stop flashing and then it did it restarted automatically and said i had currpted files so i pressed O and then it rebooted and now i’m sitting here with two 1.50 psps

I hope that helps some people.

This worked 100% really well just make sure you read the screen after it automatically reboots and then press O to load the default config.

Secondly, to all those of you asking really stupid questions, please… spend some time reading about what is a TA082, a factory 2.5, 2.6 and such infos important to downgrading properly before even attempting anything.Cause after the downgrade, there are still eloaders, iso, emulators, etc.

Lastly, I have a TA082, factory 2.6… I’m still waiting patiently…. fingers still crossed, let there be light at the end of the tunnel.

OK people that are asking stupid questions,it does NOT work on a 2.01, if you have that then you have to upgrade to a 2.5/6 to use this. And if u have a factory -2.5-or-2.6- then you cant do it, you must have bought your psp with a diffrent firmware and then upgraded to 2.5/6. and last of all your psp cannot be a TA-082 because if it is, then it wont work. to see if your psp is a version TA-082 look here:

to andy – it will work, you are not supposed to use a different country’s update but it will work, i have jp psp and updated to 2.6 via american update, as for PAL NTSC, those region encoding set ups do not apply to psp, only to home consoles

thomas – it cant be a factory version because it was encoded differently but if you have 2.5 and update to 2.6 then downgrade it will work (as long as you are lucky, it may still brick but this is a beta), if you got a factory 2.6 then dont do it yet as it will more likely than no become a brick

Worked beautifully on my factory 2.5 PSP (not TA-082). I upgrated to 2.6 first, then used the 2.6 -> 1.5 downgrader. Like everyone said a zillion times here, the ms light flashes for a couple of minutes, then the psp resets and tells you your settings are corrupt… press O, system resets again, tells you “error reading disk”… turn it off and back on, and now you will have a perfectly viable 1.5 PSP.

TA-082 — several people have reported bricking these with this downgrader. DON’T TRY IT if you have a TA-082 PSP. There’s currently no modchip for it either, so it will be bricked for good.

Im having that same question rob. My JAP system isnt a TA-082 but it came to me with 2.5 firmware. It seemed like where I bought it from opened it to test it though (It had some grubby greasy fingerprints on it >:| when i opened it) , so i have no idea if it was any firmware version before.

Worked for me. I started out with fw2.01 went to 2.6 using the US version on this site (I have an EU PSP). And then back to 1.50.
Man that was tense, but if youll excuse me I’m kinda busy now :P

You recognize a TA-082 when you open the UMD-drive, with the opening upwards and look from the back of you PSP then you see IC1003 printed (upside down).
I think they were only sold in Asia.

it took about 4 minutes waiting for the mem flash to stop then my PSP got restarted by itself with something like russian texts then it restarts again and refuse to accept Original GTA UMD Which means it converted to 1.5 :p

Use it instead of that TOO Expensive U.D Mod chip so they can lower the price ;)

- I had a factory 2.5 PSP from Europe
- I updated it to 2.6 from a Europe Game (i think it doesn’t cares which game or region)
- I used the downgrader for 2.6
the result:
– it works perfect for me!!! -

so people, the factory FW doesn’t cares at call cases. But it’s still a risk.
And be sure that your batteries are loaded, before trying an upgrades. For 100% safeness, use your AC adaptors!

Hey, great job Dark_Alex, I just hope there won’t be any bad side effects on my system on down the line. The downgrade worked without a hitch, and restarted itself so I didn’t even need to perform a hard reboot. Thanks psp-hacks for packaging the required files for each version. I do have a question though, is it OK to delete the files used and the log files that were created or is it neccessary to keep them there.

i think it dont work on the TA082 as sony could of added in so it lists the firmware version over multiple places over the hardware instead of just the flash sony has to do more than software mods to stop these things

i just wanted to report another successful downgrade here…originally 2.01 FW European non-TA-082 PSP, upgraded to 2.5 and then 2.60, and now back down to 1.50…so yes it works not only on US PSPs but JP and EU PSPs as well….Thank you so much!!!!!!!

wel the downgrade files would have been transferrerd on to ur psp try loading yur psp with a different or ni memstick if it works then deleat the files

Syphon filter with runumd (torrent) refused to boot on 1.5 when i downgraded from 2.6 – 1.5 but worked on a stock 1.5 same mem card.
updated to 2.0 and back to 1.5 and it works ok now
looks like their is something not quiet right with the 2.6 downgrader.

I am trying all sorts at the minute to get this to work.
I’ve copied the 2 folders onto my PSP.. I run the eloader, and downgrader program and its coming up with cant find eboot… then kicks me out of eloader.

Ive updated from 2.01 to 2.60 today- which folder do I stick the downgrade folders in please?

My psp is 2.6 from sony (refurbished) …. didnt work … just made my unit not read umd’s ….. shut off the psp and its back to normal ….. o well guess i have to wait :(

-downloaded the 2.6 from psp-hacks and copied to memstick
-loaded eloader and upgraded
-now 1.5!!!! woohoo!!!!

I just tried the 2.6 downgrader (the 9.8 or so MB version from this site) on a PSP factory 2.6 referb. I used the stock 32MB PSP memstick (which I PSP-reformatted before doing anything). I installed the downgrader then I installed eloader Boch on the memcard. After booting the PSP, GTA started and eloader loaded. I selected the Downgrader (the only option) from the eloader menu, waited about 2 mins and the PSP automatically restarted. I entered in the locale info and then looked at the System Version: 1.50! Following these steps worked for me for my v 2.6 referb!

ya, mind restarted right to the fw 1.5 just like philip, but the first few minutes were weird, like the disk drive would freeze, the volume would freeze but i restarted it and everything is fine

Hi there all! I just tried this at about 11:40am, and it worked great. My psp came stock at 2.01 and i upgraded to 2.60 and left it. I just tried it and you just add that downdater file to the root of your memory stick (the spot where it says psp, etc.) and put the other downdater in the game folder. I was very skeptical but it worked fine for me, it takes about 2 min for it to do its thing flashing and then you just turn it back on and boom your there. Thanks all of you for posting info, it helped me make my decision.

Just done this on a friends PSP.

It does work, programs tested devhook and daxziso worked and loaded back ups. However Dgen the mega drive emulator will not run this is using files copied from my 1.5 PSP which it runs on fine. The downgrader works but isn’t perfect. Tried upgrading to 2.0 and back down using MPH’s downgrader but the same problem still exists.

Another happy customer here. Sucessfully downgraded a 2.6 (updated from 2.01). To fix the cant read UMD, i just removed the disc and then put it back in.

I’m not sure what my psp’s original firmware was, but I think it was 2.5, because I got it for christmas and right after updated to 2.6, and it was a giga pack, so i’m pretty sure it’s a 2.5, though I’m not totally sure. I’m gonna wait until a full version is available, because if you screwed-up on a full version, then I bet the chances are most likely it will restart to 2.5/2.6, so it will rarely ever be bricked.

@ glenn The PSP I tried it on (I have 2! yay!) was an original 2.5 eur! Updated 2 2.6 and then did the downgrade! Easy! NO PROBS AT ALL…. Good luck man, you are gonna love 1.5!

do you need to download the eboot loader for gta (fanjita.org) and have a GTA liberty citys

then put the eloader stuff on your psp

or do you delete the eloader stuff when your doing the downgrade

it worked for me. i had a factory 2.5, updated to 2.6 then used the 2.6 downdater .

omg… was freaking the whole time… SUCESS!!! 1.5 to 2.6 and back to 1.5!!!!

HELL YA IT WORKED IT WORKED…. but it bricked my friends psp because he has TA-082 so is you have that psp DO NOT DOWNGRADE

1.) I bought a psp value pack with 2.0 demo disk included.

2.) When I checked the system information it said 2.01

3.) I also bought the Daxter game and updated my psp to 2.6 (Becouse of eLoader i figured that a dowgrader would come someday, as confirmed these days.)

4.) When that game was completed I bought GTA and Completed that one too. Two fun games :)=

5.) I used the function Restore Deafault Settings and reconfigured mye psp.

6.) Then i formatted my 32 mb memory card.

7.) After that i choosed the function USB connection.

8.) On my pc I downloaded (2.6DOWNGRADERBETA) from psp-hacks.com and extracted the files to a folder with the same name.

9.) Then I copied the (DOWNDATER) folder to the root of my memory stick aswell as the contents of the (PSP) folder. I also looked trough the (README)

10.) Then I downloaded (eloader097_nocache) from fanjitas homepage. Extracted the contents to mye PC, then extracted (l_097) and (utils) to the root of my memorystick. After that I also took the contents of the (PSP) folder over to the memstick without overwriting anything.

11.) Then I loaded GTA LCS and the game automaticly loaded the eLoader savegame. That was included in the (eloader097_nocache) folder. (I used this method instead of loading the eLoader savegame from the ingame menu. Had some problems with snes9x Tyl 0.42 Standard crashing. Therefore I considered this the safest method.)

12. The eLoader loaded with a picture of a white psp. I then started the downdater/downgrader test. The red light started flashing like this. .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . .. …………..
My heart rate increaced, and my crossed fingers turned red.

12. The psp rebooted to an error screen i pressed on all the buttons. The psp rebooted once again and i had to configure it again.

13. I choosed the menufunction (System Information) and it said that it was a 1.5.

It was an complete success. Good Luck, people. :)

i got a question. When or IF a way to run homebrew is found on 2.71 firmware, do you think this same downgrader would work?

It says you cant have a factory 2.6 but i downgraded my 2.6 to 1.5 sucessfully.

its risky but its worth it..! Id suggest this to someone I know but if they busted their psp by not doing it right or had me do it for them and it broke it I ain’t gettin blamed lol but this shits great more 1.5s!

Just downgraded my 2.6 us psp to 1.5 :) with no issues. mine came with factory 1.5 then i upped it to 2.5 then 2.6.

Basicaly if you use the archive provided on psp-hack.com that’s all you need. You don’t need any other 1.5 files or anything else.

But you will brick your PSP if:
1.You try to downgrade with a 32mb memory stick. You need atleast 40mb of free space for the downgrader to work.
2.Your psp runs out of battery. My suggestion just plug it in.
3.You have a TA-082. (There is no downgrader nor modchip for these yet)
4.You are a complete idiot.

And for those with 2.7+: there is no downgrader or any sort of exploit for your firmwares. So stop spamming the site. Your own f***ing fault you upgraded.

For all other willing to downgrade, good luck. I downgraded my not even using a PC, Anonymous tipsters zipplugin, eloader, and downgrader files. Did everything on PSP and now i have a 1.5 :)

Upgraded from 2.01 to 2.60, then downgraded to 1.5 successfully. AWESOME JOB DUDE!
