this is NOT working on the TA-082 hardware! you may be sol if it is, because the modchip won’t work for you either. there is an easy way to figure it out without disassembling your psp. google it, and good luck.

As a rule, I don’t trust anything that claims to downgrade from a 2.60 firmware. Apparently, full access to 2.60 kernel was just discovered, so it’s very unlikely that this downgrader would work so soon after the discovery.

I know this downgrader has been tested. PS2nfo said they tested it. They said it was successful, with some “unusual side effects.” A few other sites also mentioned the side effects, but didn’t say exactly what they were.

dude what version did you have? was it a TA-082? if so.. that sucks it specifically said not to try it if it was a ta-082 psp.. either way.. in it’s current state, it is nothing more than a bricker.. i will wait until it has been tested by fols who have a modchip installed already.. duh..

Josh, could you post the model of PSP you had, whether your PSP was a 2.6 originally (never upgraded before) and where you got the 1.5 files needed for the downgrade.

I think you should provide us with every single detail you can for two reasons:

A) Credibility

B) If something’s gone wrong at some point with the downgrader, programmers can gues the reason why and polish it as to make it 100% working.

(although I part of me cant help thinking did you have the modchip fall back in mind when you tried the downloader. I mean with a 2.6 firmware getting the modchip may have been a serious consideration anyway if this firmware worked you would have saved yourself some money and if it bricked the 2.6 needed a modchip anyway….)

I can’t say I pity you. As countless others have said before me, including yourself, it was a risk you chose to take. Why in the world do others have to pay for that? It’s not fair that people posting these comments can’t just make a civilized comment and have to resort to pointless name calling and mockery. Still though, I’ve read the updates and seen that you only need $18 to buy a mod-chip and you can’t even comeup with that. Maybe you should have thought about that before you decided to do this. I once tried to solder a mod-chip to a PS2 and broke it. I didn’t ask for donations I just bought a new one. I wish you the best but it really is your problem.

I think you should post all of the information regarding your psp model number and an accurate description of exactly what you did or thought, as that may justify that you actually performed a service for the public good. However, I cannot pity you because this is psp-hacks.com, you are aware of the consequences, you denied to acknowledge them.

I am not trying to be a know-it-all, but YOU should know that when a developer releases something experimental, ESPECIALLY ANYTHING REGARDING A DOWNGRADER OF ANY SORT, you should not mess around with it until confirmed by the author himself.

You thought that if you “tested” the test downgrader that if it worked, you could be the hero and tell everyone, and if it didn’t then you could just play the pity role on the website and ask everyone to donate money because you were the only one to take the “risk.” First of all you weren’t the only one who tested this and came out with a bricked PSP, but you are the only one who asked people to donate their money for your asinine mistake. You didn’t take a risk because you knew that either way you would still have a 1.5 PSP.

I am sure you wouldn’t put your PSP on the line for others so they wouldn’t turn their $250 dollar PSP into a $250 dollar paper-weight. Thanks again to everyone who donated.
